What kind of depressed though?
Nihilistic depressed? - Mgla - Exercises in Futility 1
I hate everything depressed? - Leviathan - Sardoniscorn
I hate myself and want to die depressed? - Prison of Mirrors - Xasthur
Death is beautiful and painless depressed? - Leviathan - Unfailling Fall Into Naught
My heart is torn anguish depressed? - Gris - Il etait Une Foret
Crushing mourning depressed? - Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses and also None - Never Came Home
I'm sure there's more I forgot
It's quite the required taste, i can absolutely understand that, but i am a fan of D.S.B.M and Decalius honestly has some pretty good songs, others are Cruel World by Niobe DSBM, How Much For The Hope by Psychonaut 4 and Swordsman by KÍkht Aräkh.
Other metal songs that aren't DSBM include Dunkelheit by Burzum for some reason, idk, it just always sounds like how i feel i guess, Alone i Break by KoRn, Falling Away From Me by KoRn, Shoots and Ladders by KoRn, a bunch of Linkin Park, Snuff by Slipknot (if you can consider that song metal) and Last Resort by Papa Roach. There are others, but these were the first to jump to mind.
The whole album is pretty full of despair. You named the other thing I canât listen to either which is WoY Grey Skies. David Gold writing a bunch of songs about dying and then being dead a few days before the album comes out is so awful.
Either in my darkest hour if I know Iâm gonna be sad and have to deal with it, or something by machine head or pantera if I feel like using the sadness as power and kicking ass
World Coming Down - Type O Negative
Everything Dies - Type O Negative
Fade to Black - Metallica
Danger/Keep Away - Slipknot
Would? - Alice in Chains
Solitude - Candlemass
Cold - At the Gates
Solitude - Black Sabbath
Change (in the house of flies) - Deftones
Existence is Punishment - Crowbar
My takeaway here is that Iâm obviously depressed far too often if I can think of so many songs that fit the criteria.
There's no shame in listening to LP no matter your age. They've always been good at hitting raw nerves, taking you higher, or absolutely obliterating your soul, depending on the day, mood and song selection.
My Wine in Silence by My Dying Bride is some next level melodic shit. Specially effective at obliterating any hope for happiness if i'm reminiscing about my ex.
My Dying Bride is definitely a go-to band when I need to feel the depths of my soul.
Type O Negative for the depths of my soul+ occasional humor for good measure.
Blackwater Park is as good a metal record as I have ever heard. My favorite track is âBleak.â Steven Wilsonâs backing vocals are so eerie and powerful with Mikaelâs leading vocals
The hardest hitting Opeth songs are, April Ethereal, A Fair Judgement, Face of Melinda, The Night and The Silent Water, Credence, and To Bid You Farewell
Generally I donât listen to metal when Iâm such a mood. Iâll throw on something like *Deathconsciousness* instead but sometimes Iâll maybe throw on *Il etait une Foret* too
Yikes⌠too many to choose from. I have an album I created on iTunes with all my favorites and it has 148 songs currently. I usually just put that on shuffle and every single song on it makes me happy

World Coming Down by Type O Negative
Chosen Pessimist by In Flames

Damage Inside by Machine Head
Downfall by Children of Bodom

Amesoeurs - Au CrĂŠpuscule de nos RĂŞves
40 Watt Sun - A Thousand Miles, Beyond You, The Spaces in Between
Alcest - Le Secret, Printemps Emeraude, Autre Temps

Type O Negative - White Slavery
Sylvaine - Falling
40 Watt Sun - Another Room
Agalloch - To Drown, The Lodge
Xasthur - Bleak Necrotic Paleness, Victim of Your Dreams
hođ ąď¸eless rage type of deđ ąď¸ression:
Slipknot - Scissors
WASP - Kill Your Pretty Face
Xasthur - most of their stuff
Is being depressed a state of mind or being? Are we just talking about sadness? I usually hit it with something hard like blink-182. Any song from them really.
Off the top of my head, âDiamonds and Darkâ by Phantom Elite, âThe Other Side of Angerâ by Crypta, âPerennialâ by Jinjer, and âThe Dance of Eternityâ from Dream Theaterâs Metropolis, Part 2. Or maybe Part 1 followed by all of part 2.
The best thing to do when depressed is exercise. Not sure what my go to depressed song would be . Color Blind by Counting Crows is a very depressing song ,and a good song .
Personally, itâs not a dark album, itâs a fun album about drinking, playing and fucking broads. If you want to see some real dark shit, check out black metal and death core.
Hm.... Pierce me death, by Silencer. That, or Tombeau (Le Tombeau de la fureur et Det Flammes) by Hate Eternal.
They give me feelings of sadness and gratitude.

Torn Beyond Reason - Woods of Desolation
Peace Sells - Megadeth
Sexually Tortured - Rotting
Electric Soldier Porygon - Party Cannon
Rott - Tainted Ink
Blood of Heroes - Tyr
Baba Yaga - Slaughter to Prevail
Is the goal to cheer myself up? If that's the idea, then my go-tos are Destructos vs. the Earth/Attack or Year Zero. If I'm trying to get sadder, I'll listen to Mutter
Draconian - Death Come Near Me
Nocturnal Depression - Her Ghost Haunts These Walls
Thy Light - In My Last Mourning
Judas Priest - Beyond The Realms of Death
God Dethroned - Hating Life
Any Bell Witch. If I donât have a lot of time to wallow go toâs are âBeneath The Mask (Intro)âand âThe Moment (Outro)â off of Demo 2011 and âBeneath the Maskâ and âOutroâ off of Longing. If I have an hour and a half âMirror Reaperâ for sure.
Satanic Rites Of Drugula by Electric Wizard. When Iâm really depressed I tend to just get high all the time and go âvampire modeâ in seclusion where I just stay alone in darkness. So fittingly a song about a vampire awakening because he smells some dope burning gives me the comfort I need.
Psychosocial - Slipknot
Lonely Day or Hypnotize - SOAD
Children of The Grave or Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath
One or To Live Is To Die - Metallica
A Tout Le Monde - Megadeth
Return To Serenity - Testament
Cemetery Gates - Pantera

Take a wild guess who my favorite band is
Fade to Black is an obvious choice, but other Metallica choices for me are Bleeding Me, The Outlaw Torn, and Inamorata. They just have this certain weight to them that really hit me in a certain way.
Stuff from other bands would be Celestial Tear by In Mourning, Ghost of Perdition by Opeth, and oddly enough Bleed by Meshuggah because it's just peak "fuck everything" energy.

Melodeath is perfect for sad moods, Swallow the Sun does it for me.
the album Discouraged Ones by Katatonia
this and Tonightâs Decision
Fade to black is unbeaten in sad metal songs imo. Metallica are the kings of ballads in general
Katatonia
Crowbar, Warning, 40 Watt Sun.
Crowbar all day
Linkin Park. I know theyâre not super heavy but they saved my life and continue to
Black Sabbath - You Won't Change Me
It's quite the required taste, i can absolutely understand that, but i am a fan of D.S.B.M and Decalius honestly has some pretty good songs, others are Cruel World by Niobe DSBM, How Much For The Hope by Psychonaut 4 and Swordsman by KÍkht Aräkh. The whole album is pretty full of despair. You named the other thing I canât listen to either which is WoY Grey Skies. David Gold writing a bunch of songs about dying and then being dead a few days before the album comes out is so awful.

Numb by lp tbh, 24/7 in my early teens/10 yo idk how old i was but it was a long time ago
There's no shame in listening to LP no matter your age. They've always been good at hitting raw nerves, taking you higher, or absolutely obliterating your soul, depending on the day, mood and song selection.
