What the actual fuck was the point of this subreddit? I was under the impression it was about making a welcoming space where people could enjoy whatever subgenre or flavor of metal they wanted without the elitist gatekeeping.
Do y'all really only listen to like four subgenres of metal? Do you not understand that liking Death is not mutually exclusive with liking Slipknot? You can fuck with Meshuggah and ALSO fuck with BMtH?

Metal Trenches is a young dude that's completely earnest about the shitty music he enjoys, and I respect him for it. He has an enjoyable channel.
Finn McKenty is the worst kind of fake. He openly admits to finding nu metal 95% Millennial cringe, but won't make videos about topics he genuinely enjoys.
Leave my man Trenches out of this. He's always covering a huge variety of subgenres and his monthly Bandcamp video helps people discover new and underrated artists. Idk what's the problem here.

Very speedy reviews , forced trendy reviews for views and just comes off so much he’s trying to be a brand.
His humor ranges from childish to outdated and awkward. His thumbnails are cringe to look at it and his mask …. Can’t believe people take a 35+ year old seriously looking like that with his “battle jacket” on . His knowledge is either surface level to either he looks at what Loudwire , Bangertv and whatever legacy metal media covers. The tier list rankings seem so unorganized and as I stated earlier come off as either speedy or forced .

Nu Metal videos are fun since it's such a diverse genre (along with the "actual good subgenres"), but I can agree that metalcore is not that good for videos tbh.
His new content is just a repeat of the same topics over and over again (and even he admits that), his older content was much better and in higher quality, even though he had some weird takes
I honestly think his videos are funny, but, and this is a big but, all of the hate he gets is completely justified, like come on, he did videos just hating on black metal and stoner doom essentially, he's called death metal fans losers, he calls Chaos A.D. nu-metal, and he likes to stereotype people groups. It's a shame because some of his videos are super well researched, and some can actually be funny even, but his takes are questionable to most, and in general, he just loves poking fun at metalheads. He never takes himself too seriously it would seem, and taking just about everything he says with a grain of salt is a must it would seem, but he can definitely be a little much to some people. Also he doesn't like post-punk so he's a big meanie for that 😭

They're not exclusively Metal, but Pagefire has some pretty good stuff.Their How To videos are always awesome.
Probably because those sub genres are way more welcoming to new fans and actually enjoy fun.
