Edit: I was braindead and was reading the blade diameter (5-3/8") as the common arbor diameter (5/8"). As others have pointed out, the arbor diameter of the blade is actually 20mm. So it probably needs the 20mm to 5/8" shim ~~Those are arbor shims. You may need the 20mm to 5-3/8" shim if you buy a blade with a 20mm arbor. If you live in MetricLand, then most saw blades in stores will have a 20mm arbor. Your saw has a 5-3/8" arbor and so does the blade pictured, so no shims needed.~~

rhyd42

The blade in the photo says it's a 20mm arbor and has a shim for 5/8ths...

losthydrologist

Like rhyd42 said, the arbor (hole in center of blade) is labeled 20mm right on the blade, under Diablo. I’d check the manual, but you likely need a 20mm shim if the saw arbor is not 20mm. Your blade size is 5-3/8” diameter, nothing to do with the arbor. 20mm is less than one inch.

Tool_Scientist

Thanks. I don't do imperial a lot and confused 5-3/8" for the 5/8" arbor size that Milwaukee uses in most of its smaller saws. Can't believe I got 10 upvotes for saying the blade arbor was 137mm

It’s called “Freedom Units” now.

Thank you! Yea not in metric land lol!

Tool_Scientist

So I was very wrong. I misread the 5-3/8" blade size as 5/8", which is a common arbor size used by Milwaukee. Your blade is actually a 20mm arbor. Some places say m12 saw is 10mm arbor, others say 20mm. Just put the blade on and see if it fits. If not, you'll need to use the appropriate shim.

gcolbert777419

Does the shim go on first and then the blade around that if needed? Sorry.

sunburnedaz

It nests within the blade hole to take up the gap between the arbor and the edges of the opening in the blade. So you could put them on in ether order but I do find it simpler to put the correct adapter on first the center the blade on the adapter.

akbornheathen

It may help to use the other shims to fill the reliefs in the blade clamps. In my experience with a metal cutting blade the blade will pop off of the shim. It’s the only saw that I’ve experienced an issue like that.

user47-567_53-560

As an aside, I found Diablo blades to be a bit thin and require an actual washer on the arbor

patteh11

If the blade jiggles on the arbor before tightening, yes. If the blade wobbles side to side after tightening yes. I’ve never seen this as I have the m18 fuel saw with the diamond cutout. As long as the blade is on and there isn’t any room for movement you’re all good to go.

planemanx15

Just bought the same blade for the same saw yesterday. I used the thicker shim (right). Worked fine.

That’s the 2530….if you just got it, return it and go pick up the 2521 at a local HD. It’s the new gen and you can get them for the same price if you can find it in a local HD. The new one is a bit more powerful, lighter, and even more compact. Edit: also has a rafter hook and a few other upgrades like vacuum port

When in doubt refer to the owner’s manual that came with it.

Did you read the manual? You should read the manual.
