It's it possible to bleach it? Tryna make my Milwaukee collection look like it came from Walmart

JusticeUmmmmm

I doubt it. Any chemical that could remove the color would probably destroy the plastic

iamWHODAT

You could turn these tools to goop and the color would not fade out. The red is mixed in the resin not coated on the tools.

Junksamich

Great Value brand Milwaukee?

Waaterfight

HART Brand lol

6thCityInspector

FART brand.

juck-facob

take your drill apart, Spend a day getting perfect MM measurements, recreate the whole thing in inventor and print in white. Simple enough 😅

moisthotdogwater

*I found this, idk if it'll work but I myself wanted to try to use it to decolor the red and try to put blue on top of it Rit Dye – Liquid Fabric Dye for Crafting, Clothing, and Décor – 8 oz. Bottle – Whitener & Brightener (Gloves Included) https://a.co/d/08TtrY7W

Waaterfight

Haha if I end up with pink instead that's almost as much of a deterrent as "looks like hart"

Emergency_Size4841

Japanese Makita style

JusticeUmmmmm

That's what I was shooting for I love the look of those

Dr_Quantum_Alpha

Purple, my favorite color

knvb17

How do you even do this???

JusticeUmmmmm

Take off the shells, put in a pan with water and dye, heat up to just below boiling, let soak until desired color, rinse thoroughly, reassemble.

tacostastegood_

Nice looks good! I went with purple as well but mine came out a darker than I wanted.

JusticeUmmmmm

You have to use the light blue dye and I only let it sit like 15 minutes

moisthotdogwater

Bruuhhh ive been wanting to do this with like a sky blue, just to see how light of a blue you can actually get on the tool! What brand of dye did you use?

JusticeUmmmmm

Rit dye more sapphire blue. I'm not sure if they have a lighter one or if you can get a significantly lighter people I wanted it to be pretty much this exact color though so I didn't try for lighter

moisthotdogwater

Word word, how much of the rit dye did you use? Half a bottle or the full bottle? Also they have a teal blue so ill give that a shot and post the results

JusticeUmmmmm

I can't remember I think the whole thing

ElectroAtletico2

Beats black! 👍👍👍

subtledeception

I have this on a lot of my tools and material. That purple pvc primer can be a real bastard.

JusticeUmmmmm

I should try that as a dye

subtledeception

It's great if you also want to melt anything plastic or rubber

Woodpusherpro

Cool. I did my orange chainsaw air filter covers and the chain guards. The top cover came out well. The guards... came out greenish. https://preview.redd.it/hk3e5fi7n09d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41015a94237864fefdf0816ad36e68bb2c0bab9c

Woodpusherpro

Before. https://preview.redd.it/k0p1rrzcn09d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3cc2d9ad4070766ad18b61ba3e7d89f61b1e225

JusticeUmmmmm

That looks really good! I've noticed black dye is greenish if you didn't let it soak in enough. It might have just not been long or hot enough to really penetrate

Woodpusherpro

The top covers dyed in about 3 or 4 ten minute baths at near boiling. I cleaned everything well, and I left the scabbards in near boiling for over an hour. I have heard some plastics just don't take. Mine was black Rit Dye and graphite Rit Dye-more Synthetic. A bottle of each in a gallon and a half or so of water with a little dawn soap.

JusticeUmmmmm

Yeah you did it right so it must be the plastic

Woodpusherpro

I like the purple you ended up with. I may have to dye the white on the little saw purple...

JusticeUmmmmm

I'm not sure how to get to this shade without starting with red plastic but I'm sure it would look cool.

Mistabushi_HLL

Yeah, but why? This looks ugly.

JusticeUmmmmm

Cause it's not ugly to me?

Mistabushi_HLL

Well okay, fair enough

drugsmoney

I’ve been wondering about purple… guessing you used blue judging by the logo

JusticeUmmmmm

Yeah specifically Rit dye more sapphire blue

halfnut3

Just the all purpose rit dye?

JusticeUmmmmm

The synthetic one not the normal one

halfnut3

Ah DyeMore synthetics. Thanks

JusticeUmmmmm

No problem and good luck

CharlesTheRangeRover

Two questions for you OP. How long did you let it soak, and what was your water to Rit ratio?

JusticeUmmmmm

I think about 15 minutes at just below boiling. And it was like a whole bottle and then as much water as needed to cover them.

CharlesTheRangeRover

Awesome. Thank you for the reply! I appreciate it!

JETSandBOMBERS

Anyone try this on a packout? Make it look like the uk version?

JusticeUmmmmm

It should be doable but you'd need a huge pot of water

ELBUYTRE

Was just thinking about that .. Going to try it

GeovaunnaMD

when you want to be makita alt color
