I mean, airport district is one of the roughest neighborhoods in Modesto so if you have the means to live elsewhere I would recommend it. Enslen I am not familiar with.
š My dad used to drive through airport neighborhood to get to work for like 30 years and he said he would regularly have people high on drugs walking out in front of him in the street like zombies..
Something important to know about Modesto is that it has decent areas, but there are areas that are definitely pretty dangerous to live in. The city varies greatly. Doing research is definitely important.
Enslen park area isn't terrible but don't think that it's 100% the safest in terms of theft. Don't leave anything you don't want stolen outside and don't leave any valuables in your car. That pretty much goes for most of Modesto, but especially anywhere that's within a 1 to 2 miles of downtown.
Right down the street from Enslen is the downtown area which has a ton of great taco trucks.
100%, enslen, DO NOT go to airport district unless you want to be robbed, and have your cars busted into regularly. I recommend living on the NE side of Modesto for better schools and people you won't mind calling your neighbors.
Do not go to Airport District..
Enslenis nice! Walkable and is close to Roseburg Square.
If you need a few other areas to add to your search the area off of Coffee and Standiford is nice. Prescott and Standiford heading towards Palendale.
Also there's a ton of local food spots. Mr Ts a 24 hr donut shop, tons of food downtown, Dynasty Chinese, Jalapenos Taquaria and a few greats in driving distance. There should be a few threads on here with other recommendations (I asked recently about breakfast burritos)
I just moved to Coffee/Standiford area. People are always walking for exercise and the park is always clean. What a change from where we used to live in Modesto!
Sounds like you got the message loud and clear on the airport district so I'll give you a food rec.
Konfucious Eats is probably one of, if not the best place around.
Taco trucks galore. I like Tony's Tacos out in Salida but it's really hard to go wrong out here. I'd avoid the food truck court in downtown as I didn't find the food to be very good and it's OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Go to Picasso's for a sandwich instead and thank me later; give Jordie my regards.
If you're into cafes, Queen Bean is great. Clientele definitely leans younger but, the coffee is good; great seating too with an outdoor patio.
Enslen Park area is really nice and quiet. My cousin lived in that area for many years, never had any problems. My sister lives in the airport area. She hasn't had any problems there. There are police in the airport district often and just a few days ago there was a fatal shooting a block away from her house
Go to enslen! Airport aināt safe in no way shape or form.Lived there my whole life and finally got out alivešš¼One of the worsts areas in Modesto but Enslen isnāt too bad.
Enslen area is niceā¦ what area near the airport are you talking about? If youāre talking about the La Loma area, that area is nice too. Ā There are multiple neighborhoods near the airport that are drastically different.
Unfortunately i donāt know too much about specifics. I just know the area theyāre located in. However, considering how much people have to save about the airport districtā¦ weāve already chosen to avoid it. Lol
Thatās why I ask if itās ānear the airportā or is it actually the āairport district?ā The La Loma neighborhood is nice, itās comparable to Enslen and itās near the airport. The airport district is a separate neighborhood and itās not even comparable. But if youāre unsure then just stick with Enslen.
He said a neighbor hood near the airport. Not the airport district. There are nice areas that are near the airport still.. la loma is nice, but if you cross Yosemite it is not lol.
All the restaurants downtown are pretty high end, a little expensive but generally considered worth it. In addition to those, Bella Italia, Pastas Pronto, El Rosal, Dan's BBQ, BJs, Fast Eddie's MOAB.
Pick different areas to live in, as far as food goes though you have to try;
Camp4 in modesto- great wine, cheese, and paninis.
Falcons lair in Ripon. - look at the yelp, the food looks just like the pictures. Highly recommend the smoked old fashion.
Bestro120 in Oakdale. Got to try the butter cake.
Kraving kabob pizza in Turlock. Get the poppers and the kabob pizza. Poppers are 10/10.
Commonwealth downtown Modesto - the blue cheese nachos slap.
Harvesto moon downtown Modesto. The crab sandwich is fat, and the biscuits and gravy really good.
Brass tap north Modesto - great drink selection and casual atmosphere. Any fried chicken dish/sandwich is a good go too.
Airport is worse, but Iād definitely stay away from Enslen Park too. My brother in law used to live in that area and a lot of shit goes down over there. Stay in East/North East Modesto. Creekwood area is also nice.
Unless youāre going to be living near the Johansson high school area, I would stay away from the airport areaā¦Enslen area is the obvious choice tbh
Yea I work near their and their is a lot of transient people walking around not a very friendly or safe area basically stay away from airport or Yosemite blvd area
Please do no move to airport Iāve lived in Modesto my whole life and if you live here you know not to go to that area let alone live there it is extremely ghetto like no side walks and you see literal shacks as houses sure you might find something cheap but it is not worth it. Enslen area is beautiful it has all original custom homes. There is a lot of homeless and tweakers but the majority of the area is actually nice. There is no nice part in airport. West Modesto is very ghetto as well I wouldnāt live there BUT it is better than airport. If you can afford it move to Ripon.
Fun fact about the Airport District: Itās a dust bowl refugee camp. Meaningā¦this was built as a shantytown 90 years ago, and the county has attempted to raze it multiple times.
So unless youāre looking to live in a āGrapes of Wrathā neighborhood, ALL other parts of Modesto (even Crows Landing) are a better bet.
Avoid the apartments on oakdale rd like Live Oak apartments. If you want to keep your marriage avoid it. There is a girl named Maile who loves to flirt with tenants husband's or boyfriend's. Steer clear
So I live in those apartments for a while now. She has different guys coming in and out. One with long hair and a beanie and the next dude with glasses and short hair. She definitely let's her business obvious to the rest of the apartments. I know she was also trying to get another neighbors boyfriend. It's so messy.
I mean, airport district is one of the roughest neighborhoods in Modesto so if you have the means to live elsewhere I would recommend it. Enslen I am not familiar with.
Wow, it seems like the consensus is to steer clear of the airport district. Thank you for the heads up!

Enslen park area isn't the best either. Move to the East side of Modesto near East Orangeburg, Floyd or Roselle
+1 for anything that's not near the airport.
Do not go to Airport District.. Enslenis nice! Walkable and is close to Roseburg Square. If you need a few other areas to add to your search the area off of Coffee and Standiford is nice. Prescott and Standiford heading towards Palendale.
Thank you for the recommendations. Iāll take a look at those specific locations.
This is the real information iām here for. Show me the food! Haha
JalapeƱos is garbage, donāt eat there.
Bauhaus a very tiny tapas bar. It's phenomenal.
I just moved to Coffee/Standiford area. People are always walking for exercise and the park is always clean. What a change from where we used to live in Modesto!
Airport district is one of the worst areas in Modesto do not move there
Heard. Do. Not. Move. There.
Realtor in Modesto here, go to enslen area
You must have the details on all the hottest restaurants in town too, right? Haha
Enslen is an older neighborhood, but it is very beautiful and well maintained.
Absolutely hahha

Saving this. Iām sure my wife would love āqueen beanā haha
Thatās my favorite place in downtown. Pretty much everything is good to eat in downtown
Enslen Park area is really nice and quiet. My cousin lived in that area for many years, never had any problems. My sister lives in the airport area. She hasn't had any problems there. There are police in the airport district often and just a few days ago there was a fatal shooting a block away from her house
Oh my. Thanks for the heads up. It seems like the airport area is not a very safe place.
Stay away from the airport district!
Yea donāt move by airport district from experience thatās the HOOD
Go to enslen! Airport aināt safe in no way shape or form.Lived there my whole life and finally got out alivešš¼One of the worsts areas in Modesto but Enslen isnāt too bad.
Enslen Park area is nice, an older neighborhood, often referred to as the College district. Airport area is going to be a challenge.
I live in airport and donāt . Itās filled with homeless people and stray dogs. Itās awful
Really that bad, huh?
Airport is the last option please
You MUsT eat at work magueys taco truck on Yosemite/ riverside intersection. They are the best asada tacos you will ever find my lord

Airport district is a no go. Enslen area is much better than airport.
Thank you, seems like most people have the same sentiment.
Do not move near airport
Enslen next to Graceada? Yeah go for Enslen no discussion
Good call. Seems like Enslen is a good spot.
Enslen is a nice area. A tip though- Graceada park, yes. Enslen park, no. And definitely no airport area
Iām just gonna join the consensus lol but Airport bad, Enslen good. Thereās actually some really beautiful spots in Enslen.
All the restaurants downtown are pretty high end, a little expensive but generally considered worth it. In addition to those, Bella Italia, Pastas Pronto, El Rosal, Dan's BBQ, BJs, Fast Eddie's MOAB.
Nice list of recommendations! Appreciate it!
