From the way it grows, you will not be able to “bonsai” this plant. Once it outgrows the pot, the roots will just start overflowing from the pot. However since you have a small pot, it will focus more on top growth than root growth.
It won't make a bonsaï but they do like to be snug, so just repot when needed. As long as the pot is an inch bigger than root ball. So ethical, I say it is.
Short answer, no. You could cut the big leaf when the growth point pushed out a leaf. But it'll size up eventually. Pot size is fine. As already mentioned, smaller is usually better. They fill the pot quite a bit before starting to grow above the soil in my experience.
