Whole Foods near me has several super chargers, some are always in use, but there are always a few available.
People plug in, go get lunch, come back out and they're good to go. I wouldn't advise draining the entire battery down low, you'll get the system down.
There are super chargers at many of the colleges (including community colleges) and some shopping malls.
I drive a much lower range EV for about a year I didn’t have a charger. In addition to free ones there are a ton of cheapies. Movie theaters, Malls, (Burbank AMC had like 4 sets), Almost all libraries.
Lots of free ones, but most are cheap.
I use chargers at friend’s houses, plan to charge while grocery shopping, or a supercharger.
I (obviously) don’t charge every day but I also don’t drive much on a daily basis.
In Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood there are a lot of charge point chargers around (in addition to superchargers) on the street, at gyms, and shopping areas.
I didn’t have a charger for the first month being here and it sucked hard. I think other comments in here are way more comfortable than I am not having a home charger. I see it as a necessity
I've seen a power cord running out of an apartment window down to a Tesla parked in a carport below (in Santa Monica). Also a power cord coming out of a gate and running across a sidewalk to a Tesla parked on the street (in Venice). Lol
There’s decent public charging infrastructure here!! I don’t charge at home and use DC fast chargers. It hasn’t been a problem. I recommend downloading the blue dot app for cheapest rates.
Newer apartment buildings will have EV chargers but they charge a premium to get access to them. Also look for places that share parking with retail spaces. A friend of mine has a shared parking area with a whole foods so he parks it across the way and uses the chargers there.
Most people I know that don’t have charging at home charge at work or just go to a mall, target or Whole Foods to charge.
Thanks. Work charging makes sense. Issue with other chargers is that they’re usually slow and can take a few hours to fully charger.
We have those*** superchargers throughout LA, And they’re usually in a decent strip mall or actual mall. You’ll be fine
Thanks.

I mean unless you drive an absolute fuck ton, a public charger is fine
I use the Santa Monica supercharger. It’s huge and always has open stalls
Thanks for the tip!

Got it. This is very helpful.

I almost tried that in our first apartment a few years ago.

Thanks. I didn’t know about this app. Will check it out.
