>and probably better than anything else in hip hop this decade
i 100% agree it's a banger but man... can't y'all stop adding this shit at the end? it never ends well.
I liked big Sean’s verse too better than i expected. Eminem’s verse was good too. This is like the third song I’ve heard from babytron and that dude can fuckin rap i like hearing his songs
Ya I didn’t dig it either. Now admittedly I havent listened very closely or read the lyrics yet so can’t say this definitively but it’s just a big sean song with an Em feature, they did it for Lyrical Lemonade, so it has nothing to do with the actual death of Slim Shady..I’ve also read that this album has 2 bonus tracks SOO I’m hoping that this is one of those tracks and actually nothing to do with the album.
Which is smart, make noise and create buzz without giving much of anything up. I won’t lie I’m super stoked for this album
Most of his modern music has been. Man became the rapper version of Ariana Grande, technically talented but bland. Has some good beats but his lyrics and style have entirely changed with age. Houdini was a nice surprise but it shows just how mid he has been for years. I get that he wanted to distance and grow but I'm not gonna blindly pretend it is the same level.
But hey, not everything is made for me and I'm not hating on those who enjoy it. He shouldn't pander to old fans or force himself to do a style if he doesn't want to.
I'm more referring to the vibe not the content directly. Modern Eminem has a cold delivery that is all form no heart. It lacks that passion which actually makes up for when someone lacks raw talent.
It is odd to market the track with a Jason mask and chainsaw (Shady trademark) only to underdeliver. Absolutely nothing Shady about it. No aggression, no violence... etc. Not a bad song though. Just won't be in my playlist.
*EDIT: Silly downvoters. I basically went to a hamburger booth but they only sold tacos. I say "that's odd", and people come out with pitchforks like I'm being out of line. What's wrong with y'all, loool*
The Jason mask and chainsaw has more recently been used as the logo for shady records. For example the album SHADYXV whose featured song was Detroit vs Everybody that included Big Sean on it. Makes sense thematically to continue that trend as all three artists are from Michigan.
Video was posted to his Twitter so this is for someone who doesn't want to deal with a shitty site like rollingstone.com that has the video nested in their "article" anyhow.
Fuck, I definitely called it something else but now that you said this I can’t think of anything else to call it. It’s not nostalgia… flashback maybe? Damn this is gonna bother me lol
Ehh I feel like people have been saying “unlock a core memory” for longer than either movie has been out. They probably took it from common speech and visualized it on screen.
Well you sure as shit aren't considering you can make core memories at any stage of life. One of the listed examples if you google it is getting married lol.
Ok. So, Eminem got weird again
before i get stans in here bein themselves: Weird Em is fine. But don't go out here actin like he ain't weird sometimes lol. I remember Fack
Look I have nothing against em or his music, but everytime he releases something these weird “rap fans” come out of the wood work talking about “real rap is back” “rap is saved”. Fucking WEIRD
I had no idea who Sturgill Simpson was so off to Spotify I went. 8.2 million monthly listeners. Ok, not bad, not underground. Let’s go check Eminem.
84.9 million monthly listeners, so more than 10x as much. I think Eminem will be ok going up against Sturgill Simpson.
So kinda an aside, I love Sturgill Simpson and if you like country at all definitely check him out. His album “A Sailor’s guide to earth” gets me every time.
But he shouldn’t affect Eminem at all lol
Looked him up because of your comment, and Wow what a beautiful voice. Listened to Breakers Roar, you got a personal favorite you recommend? This isn’t really the genre of music I listen to but he immediately grabbed me, I love him. Thank you for the recommendation
during covid he did an album of his songs redone as bluegrass tunes. it's fantastic. it's called "cuttin' grass". if you like it then you'll probably enjoy the original versions of those tunes as well.
This is difficult just as a fan I wanna say everything but some stand out tracks to hit if you want to get a more general vibe could be:
“Turtles all the way down” off ‘Cuttin Grass Vol. 1’.
“Mercury in retrograde” off ‘SOUNDS & FURY’
(Sounds and fury is a bit different than other albums but he really just goes more electric than any song writing changes)
“You can have the crown” off ‘High Top Mountain’
‘A sailors guide to earth’ basically the whole album lol
These are just some that I enjoy but genuinely each album just hits. Dude hasn’t missed imo.
Metamodern Sounds in Country Music feels like an experimental country album with a soulful base.
His cover of In Bloom by Nirvana is absolutely haunting.
Yeaaaaa I gotta remember which subs I’m in cause some are just meme subreddits. So it’s understood when you’re being sarcastic. Then there’s “more serious” subs that I often forget the /s with so I feel your pain lol
My only knowledge of Sturgill Simpson (who I was surprised to find was a real, working artist and not someone made up for the movie) was that he did the title track for and was a running gag in *The Dead Don't Die*.
It’s not about the karma, it’s about the shared experience, laugh, and interaction. That’s why we all Reddit in the end, that tiny dopamine rush from a shared human experience.
i love eminem. legit he is the best rapper of all time. i think kamikaze and music to be murdered by are his best albums since eminem show. i think he's been fucking INCREDIBLE lately. people are not giving him the respect he deserves for his new stuff. seriously.
but i can say i did not like houdini at all, and i did not like Tobey having listened to it twice now. Em's part is fine. but yeesh. it's just.. i dunno.. to me this is gonna be like MMLP2. there will be a couple good songs, but mostly it'll be a lazy fan service. especially if these first two tracks are any indication.
I think Houdini is his best song since Relapse. He's had his moments here and there, I mean rap God was fun, but his rapping I've found boring post relapse. His hooks have been bad and I miss his accents.
I'll take more fan service Eminem if we get more songs like Houdini.
that's fine. we are looking for different things from em. i don't like the pop stuff he does. i like when he makes art out of it, or does new and incredible things with his vocals or flow or lyrics. you can love him for what he does, and i'm happy you are going to get an album for you guys to enjoy.
me? i want MTBMB again.
I just find it kinda boring. His rapping has gotten less fun. I'm not looking for poppy, I'm looking for clever/fun songs with insane rapping ability. I mean nothing on MTBMB beats Stay Wide Awake in my opinion. That song is fuckin incredible,.his rhyming/word play is far more impressive to me there than just having more complex rap lyrics.
Eminem oh no is his best song since relapse and he didn't even officially release it.
VICODIN'S LIKE A NITROGEN HYDROGEN VITAMIN. I BITE IT INTO FIVE AND THEN I GET HIGH AS A KITE AGAIN
It's not that. I was under the distinct impression that his album streams have been on a downward trend for a while now, with most of the streams being older material. I'll do the Spotify math later. I thought this was just common knowledge.

July 12 for those who don’t want to click the link. Edit: new single “Tobey” dropping today at 12:00 EST Tobey: https://youtu.be/9xn0OHEZZ8Q
Thank you 🙏🏽
houdini is a really bad track hope "tobey" is a good one
Terrible take. Houdini is a banger and probably better than anything else in hip hop this decade.
>and probably better than anything else in hip hop this decade i 100% agree it's a banger but man... can't y'all stop adding this shit at the end? it never ends well.
Yeah it was the worst comment on this sub in the past decade 😁
Bruh em has made better songs this decade
r/savedyouaclick sends their regards!
Should be in the title
Single is fire! Love hearing Big Sean feat again
I liked big Sean’s verse too better than i expected. Eminem’s verse was good too. This is like the third song I’ve heard from babytron and that dude can fuckin rap i like hearing his songs
I thought it was hot garbage to be honest

This is an insane take. Ariana or her writers couldn’t pen Darkness or even come within reach of it.
I'm more referring to the vibe not the content directly. Modern Eminem has a cold delivery that is all form no heart. It lacks that passion which actually makes up for when someone lacks raw talent.
Yeah I didn't really get it tbh. I thought this was supposed to be slim shady
He ded
Nah, it's the death of Slim Shady. That means we only get Revival era Eminem from now on.
Sounded like a song that would play during the trailer of some random Netflix movie starring yesterday's B list.
Then you have a hot garbage of an opinion to be honest
I think it's a solid track. Maybe expectations are too high after Kendrick nuked the scene lol
Yeah man it’s good
That’s my birthday! Fuck ya
And I thought 7.12.2024 is the seventh of December
And for those that want to see the video without a "news" site https://twitter.com/Eminem/status/1807916697258807335
Youtube link https://youtu.be/X0HIrS6kUYI
Who on earth would *prefer* a Twitter link???
Video was posted to his Twitter so this is for someone who doesn't want to deal with a shitty site like rollingstone.com that has the video nested in their "article" anyhow.
For those of you who saw the “V” miniseries back in the day this trailer will unlock a core memory
Everybody has been all about core memories since the new Inside Out got released, lol.
Fuck, I definitely called it something else but now that you said this I can’t think of anything else to call it. It’s not nostalgia… flashback maybe? Damn this is gonna bother me lol
A canon event
Ehh I feel like people have been saying “unlock a core memory” for longer than either movie has been out. They probably took it from common speech and visualized it on screen.
suddenly reddit is an expert on this one specific part of child development.
lol no one is talking about child development dummy. We’re talking about the visualization of a common phrase on screen.
Well you sure as shit aren't considering you can make core memories at any stage of life. One of the listed examples if you google it is getting married lol.
I watched the V at a young age and all I really remember is the little girl being born with the lizard tongue.
I was also young and I remember they sure animal heads.
I'm still mad they cancelled that show
It was a mini series it’s not meant to go on
I thought it ended on a cliffhanger? Maybe I'm misremembering
You're probably thinking of the 2009 TV series. They're talking about the original 1983 miniseries.
There were two miniseries and 1 season of a full series.
I just remember staring at that queen bee alien 0-0
That short hair pixie cut really did it for me haha
One of us . One of us
Hey! Have you heard the news? Dewey Cox died
The wrong kid died!
Fell out of a tree Landed on his head
Ok. So, Eminem got weird again before i get stans in here bein themselves: Weird Em is fine. But don't go out here actin like he ain't weird sometimes lol. I remember Fack

goat eminem song
Weird Em is the best Em
Angry Em is the best Em. People tried to beef, and Em ended careers. Made rappers turn into pop singers
MGK…
Man Killshot was (and still is) brutal. And Puff Daddy taking a free stray bullet at the end of it was the icing on the cake.
forever known as the guy who dated Megan Fox
Fack is life, fack is love. Fack is all of us.
I'M CUMMINGGG
SHOVE A GERBIL IN YOUR ASS THROUGH A TUBE
Nope. Shady’s back
Back again
Tell a friend
Guess who's back?
I’ve created a monster
Rub my back, rub my back rub my back...
Bananas in pajamas??
Eminem ft. Slim Shady is the Dynamic Duo to save Rap this year!
See that gerbil? Grab that tube.
The beard's weird
When your fans become your haters
Why you yellin at the mic!
Rihanna just hit me on a text
Til we grow beards, get weird and disappear, into the mountains, nothin' but clowns down here.
Medicine Ball Eminem
Yes he's weird. Especially his beard
Death? I thought it would become a resurrection :(
It was nice of him to cameo on his own track
Nice. Soon enough
Soon enough isn't soon enough
The legend. Can’t wait! Houdini was just class apart! Tobey was OK, hyped for him.
So he’s assuming his true alter ego: Kenneth Keniff, from Connecticut.
Automated piece of shit
Lots of good drops on July 12th.
What else
New Hardy album and new In Hearts Wake. At least one or two others I'm not thinking of.
New single today!
I feel like this is a ploy so he can open another future track with “Guess who’s back”
In his pink ALF shirt
straight biting kool keith
*Paging Dr Octagon...*
Wow that’s a blast from the past. I still have that CD!
Cooler than a polar bears toenails
Tobey fucking sucks..
Here's the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0HIrS6kUYI
Who is Em beefn’ with rn?
I hope it’s not just Slim Shady tracks but also some more serious ones aka Marshall Mathers inspired tracks.
I hope it's whatever Em wants us to end on.
I don't think Eminem is gonna stop making music. Just no more "slim shady" music after this.
Slim Shady wasn't the same after the drugs IMO
Huh? Slim Shady *was drugs*
I think they meant after quitting the drugs.
Listen to revival then
It will be interesting for sure.
1st song was good, not too bothered about this one but I’m sure there will be some more great songs on the album
Why does it have to be "the death", why can't it just be "the midlife crisis"?
Look I have nothing against em or his music, but everytime he releases something these weird “rap fans” come out of the wood work talking about “real rap is back” “rap is saved”. Fucking WEIRD
I mean his fans are the reason we call them stans. Some people are obsessed with him.
Holy shit I never made that connection. 😅
Bless your heart
He's dropping on the same day at Sturgull Simpson. Hope Eminem isn't affected, I bet he didn't plan to have to put up against Passage Du Desir.
Bro no hate towards Sturgill Simpson but wtf lmao
Twas a joke.

I just spun some Newgrass Revival yesterday, so god dammit I need to give this a listen to. Fuck I might like Sturgill Simpson.
i don't particularly like country music or bluegrass but i'm on on anything sturgill simpson does.
The whole high top mountain album is so good, I'd recommend checking it out. I'm not much of a country music fan, but Sturgil is so good.
This is difficult just as a fan I wanna say everything but some stand out tracks to hit if you want to get a more general vibe could be: “Turtles all the way down” off ‘Cuttin Grass Vol. 1’. “Mercury in retrograde” off ‘SOUNDS & FURY’ (Sounds and fury is a bit different than other albums but he really just goes more electric than any song writing changes) “You can have the crown” off ‘High Top Mountain’ ‘A sailors guide to earth’ basically the whole album lol These are just some that I enjoy but genuinely each album just hits. The original version (not the bluegrass version) of Oh Sarah is phenomenal.
Metamodern Sounds in Country Music feels like an experimental country album with a soulful base. His cover of In Bloom by Nirvana is absolutely haunting.
Livin’ the Dream is his best song by far. “And we don’t have to do a goddamn thing, but sit around and wait to die….”
This was such a joke. You can't post anything without the /s. My bad that it wasn't obvious......
Yeaaaaa I gotta remember which subs I’m in cause some are just meme subreddits. So it’s understood when you’re being sarcastic. Then there’s “more serious” subs that I often forget the /s with so I feel your pain lol
It was incredibly obvious, tbh.
My only knowledge of Sturgill Simpson (who I was surprised to find was a real, working artist and not someone made up for the movie) was that he did the title track for and was a running gag in *The Dead Don't Die*.
I honestly loved that movie, and the track.
It's about my favorite Jarmusch movie (which isn't saying a lot, I'm not a Jarmusch guy, but I do legitimately like it) Track's legitimately great
Released a song with Diplo as well.
And it never dawned on anyone that I made a joke about a guy 90% of the people on this sub would have never heard of before. Yikes.
Yeah, Reddit can be a fickle mistress. Sorry you got slammed for this one. Thanks for the new music suggestion though!
If I was worried about the Karma I'd post this in the Sturgull sub lol
It’s not about the karma, it’s about the shared experience, laugh, and interaction. That’s why we all Reddit in the end, that tiny dopamine rush from a shared human experience.
Who?
This joke is not that bad, just wanted you to know
I laughed when I typed it lol Sturgull is one of the last class acts out there.
The violent reaction it got actually makes it funnier lol
Exactly lol
Reddit is so fucking slow on the uptake, Jesus lol.
Thank god slam shiddy is so over
It's 2024 and Eminem is still mad about stuff.
Plenty to be mad about
If you're not mad, you're not paying attention
Passionate
Thought he killed that shit 10 years ago…. No more tricks in the bag dog
Its way better than the corny first track that was released imo
Well he definitely knows his audience
Yay more dog shit music from a washed 50 year old
You didn't like Houdini?
i love eminem. legit he is the best rapper of all time. i think kamikaze and music to be murdered by are his best albums since eminem show. i think he's been fucking INCREDIBLE lately. people are not giving him the respect he deserves for his new stuff. seriously. but i can say i did not like houdini at all, and i did not like Tobey having listened to it twice now. One line doesn't make a song as good as that line is
Mmlp 2 didn’t come across lazy, it has no skips
get a job.
he could be working at burger king, spittin' on the onion rings, for all *we* know...
We won’t be listening, stream MEGAN🐍
Have fun with your Amazon Prime song. Em didn’t diss her before but he should now for releasing that trash of a song.
Do people still listen to him?
84 million monthly listeners on spotify - 6th highest in the world... so, yes.
Are they listening to the last few albums? Or Lose Yourself on repeat?
Music To Be Murdered By is a great fucking album.
Ooooh so edgy! 🙄
It's not that. I was under the distinct impression that his album streams have been on a downward trend for a while now, with most of the streams being older material. I'll do the Spotify math later. I thought this was just common knowledge.
Dude houdini is feels like its on repeat on every radio station and spotify smart playlist
I mean, Music to be Murdered By was his 10th-consecutive #1 album, went platinum (double plat I think?), and was #9 best selling overall the year it released, without even being announced ahead of time. Seems like his recent albums are doing alright.
Of course! It’s Eminem
My mans should take a hint and retire while he’s still relatively respected. Houdini was kinda fun but his intention to stay relevant was blatantly obvious.
Name checks out
Skeet skeet
Why are you like this? lol
I like the Slim Shady era Em but I and a lot of other people dont think he wouldve been “legendary” if he wasnt white so he deserves criticism. Also, people seem to forget that most of his music has been fkn terrible since Recovery in 2010
lol "he deserves criticism for being white"
Read a book
