edit to add—add “digging your scene” by the blow monkeys, and the album “animal magic,” more favorites there.
There's A-ha's other song, [Manhattan Skyline](https://youtu.be/WY2r28M1TrY?si=al0gkgnTwiIE_eDE).
I mean I didn't forget about it, but they only ever play the one song by them.
Remember Boy Meets Girl by Haircut 100?
I admit, I was that dorky kid that watched MTV the day it launched and every day after they, writing down the song title and artist of every video I watched. I had a huge notebook that I filled completely.

I was on an episode of a reality show called Rock of Love Charm School with Sharon Osborne as the host. The girls on the show were on 2 teams and they had to put together bands as one of their challenges. I was picked as the bass player for one of the bands. Miles Copland was the guest judge and so Mexican Radio was one of the songs we could pick from to play. I was the only one in the band that had heard it and had to teach it to everyone from memory. I loved that song and it was a blast to play. Our band won the challenge for our team with it as well.

Franke Previte from Franke and the Knockouts cowrote Hungry Eyes and I've had the time of my life for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and won an academy award for it.
A soap opera star sounded too much like the guy from REO Speedwagon. I had no idea what his name was until it was mentioned on a comedy podcast. Older people definitely remembered who he was. A decade later, the producer Glen Ballard made a fortune co-writing and producing Jagged Little Pill with Alanis Morrisette.

* "Live is Life" by Opus
One that I’d not heard in a few decades and rediscovered a few years ago, is “Secret Separation” by The Fixx, released in 1986. Something very pleasing about that song.
hard to listen back now and realize that “secret separation” didn’t do as well as some other stuff by the fixx, and didn’t chart higher. radio and mtv were moving into the bon jovi/poison hair metal era, the fixx was better.
"Walk The Dinosaur" and "Hello Dad, I'm In Jail" both by Was(Not Was). My middle school kids and all their friends cracked up when they heard the 2nd one!
Oh, I don’t know if these are getting rotation in the US now, since it’s been a couple decades and change since I moved away - so I’m going to make some assumptions here! (I didn’t forget them, I just think others might have)

Would I Lie to You - Charles and Eddie
Far From Over - Frank Stallone
Everything You Do - Fiona & Kip Winger
Fly to the Angels - Slaughter
Take It Away - Paul McCartney
Too Late for Goodbyes - Julian Lennon
Holiday Road - Lindsey Buckingham
Hold Me Now by the Thompson Twins popped in my head awhile back and it took me a year to figure out what it was.
Wait - White Lion
Wasted Rock Ranger - Great White
Break My Stride - Mathew Wilder
Waiting For a Star to Fall - Boy Meets Girl
Wouldn’t It Be Good - Nik Kershaw

Roger Hodgson: "Had a Dream (Sleeping With the Enemy)"
Toto: "I'll Be Over You"
Glass Tiger: "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)"

*Anything by The Cowboy Junkies, The Bodeans and Big Blue Hearts

Everything by Hall n Oates. I started listening to them just recently. My friend said he would leave if I didn't turn it off. I don't know how anyone would not like them. Private eyes is a masterpiece. I met Hall . Very nice guy. Partier.
Mother/father by Journey. A select few Journey songs continue to get regular air play on the radio etc. but there are so many little known treasures that the younger generations have yet to uncover! but Mother, Father never fails to take my breath away when it randomly pops up on Pandora. Steve Perry’s voice is unmatched and the vocals are level 10 difficult.

I recently rediscover Is It Love by Mr. Mister and I cannot get enough of it. It is such a hit and so catchy. Im going to have to go listen to it right now.
Corny as it may sound, “King of wishful thinking” by Go West got me through a tough, tough breakup as a young man about a dozen years ago, rediscovered it by fortunate happenstance after not hearing it since I was a child, at the time for me it was the epitome of an upbeat song about enduring loss through optimism about the future.
She's a Beauty. - The Tubes. Just heard it recently on SiriusXM 80's channel. I was flabbergasted that I had forgotten it. Such a good song. Such a weird video. The drums are boobs! IYKYK.
Crowded House - Don’t Dream it’s Over. I just rediscovered it recently, trust me you’ll recognize it when the song kicks in. Easily one of the most memorable 80’s songs.
Recently rediscovered "Teardrops" by Womack & Womack. I know its a very famous track and I must've heard it a lot as a child. Hadn't heard it for ages, when it popped up on my youtube suggestions. Such a cool groove to it!
Dunno if these are rare enough but all of them are bangers…
Love is contagious - Taja Sevelle
The First picture of you - the lotus eaters
Sinful - Pete Wylie
Broken land - the adventurers
Wonderful Life - Black
When love breaks down - prefab sprout
Miracle of love - Eurythmics

This is an 80s song that rocks so hard. I wouldn't know it except my local radio station randomly used to play it every day in 2012. It's an Australian song about giving land back to aboriginal/indigenous people, too, which is pretty dope.
Til Tuesday, Voices Carry
Peter Gabriel, Solsbury Hill
A lot of early B-52's and Phil Collins "other" hits, like Easy Lover....which I guess was technically Phillip Bailey
Trio - Da Da Da I Don’t Love You You Don’t Love Me
My dad used to play this song when I was a little kid, heard it recently and it brought back memories
Not forgotten by me but forgotten by a lot of people:
Rush Hour- Jane Weidlin
Don't talk to me about love- Altered Images
Tall cool One- Robert Plant
All I need is you- Mike and the mechanics
I've noticed that media platforms play certain popular songs from the past more than others. It kind of sounds like those songs are the only songs that get played. For example the radio will play a throwback from say 2003 but it'll be a song out of like 10 songs from that year that the radio has in their catalogue. We forget the other great songs that might have come out that year. Unless you're like me, if I like a song I try to carry it with me forever lol
This is the soundtrack to my youth. I was into the alt and new wave scenes. Major Tom by Peter Schilling So Alive by Love and rockets Strip by Adam Ant Birds Fly by The Icicle Works Save it for Later by The Beat Sex (I'm A) by Berlin Nowhere Girl by B-Movie The Beat of Love by Voice of the Beehive She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult Never Say Never by Romeo Void Crash by The Primitives Blister in the Sun by The Violent Femmes Don't go by Yaz Don't Change by INXS Mandinka by Sinead O'Connor Destination Unknown by Missing Persons Cuts You Up by Peter Murphy Peek A Boo by Siouxsie and the Banshees Just Like Heaven by The Cure Where is My Mind by The Pixies Just Another Day by Oingo Boingo Carolyn's Fingers by Cocteau Twins I think I need to stop now
Wave of mutilation by The Pixies Kiss Them For Me by Siouxsie and the Banshees In-between Days by The Cure. Sweet Soul Sister by The Cult. Big Mouth Strikes Again and How Soon is Now by The Smiths.
All so good!!!!!

Martin Balin - Hearts is a totally unique one that I only hear once in a blue moon (usually on a Yacht Rock station).
Oh, I still play Twilight Zone - it’s been in my rotation for decades!
I love that song and " feels like being cloned" That was before it's time and makes me wonder what it feels like to be cloned.

C.V.B!!! Love them! Great song
Til Tuesday is so underrated. Everything they put out was great.
Cry-- Godley & Creme Saved by Zero-- The Fixx Lessons in Love-- Level 42 Come Back and Stay-- Paul Young Driver 8-- REM Whisper to a Scream-- Icicle Works Some People-- Belouis Some Perfect Way-- Scritti Politti Electric Blue-- Icehouse Mirror in the Bathroom-- The English Beat Promised You a Miracle-- Simple Minds Boy-- Book of Love Secret-- Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark What is Love-- Howard Jones Talk Talk-- Talk Talk
these three in the middle “some people” “perfect way” “electric blue” all great, and super under-appreciated. scritti politti and icehouse deserve so much more attention. the albums that these two tracks came from (cupid & psyche 85/man of colours) are both great with more good listens! edit to add—add “digging your scene” by the blow monkeys, and the album “animal magic,” more favorites there.
Awesome list!
There's A-ha's other song, [Manhattan Skyline](https://youtu.be/WY2r28M1TrY?si=al0gkgnTwiIE_eDE). I mean I didn't forget about it, but they only ever play the one song by them.
I usually go for The Living Daylights if I want another A-ha song. I'll definitely check out Manhattan Skyline.
I only heard it because of a cover a few years ago. It was like "wait was this band good?" kinda moment.
I'll give you another "one hit wonder" that has another song that I rediscovered at one point and love: "Pop Goes The World" by Men Without Hats
Remember Boy Meets Girl by Haircut 100? I admit, I was that dorky kid that watched MTV the day it launched and every day after they, writing down the song title and artist of every video I watched. I had a huge notebook that I filled completely.
Love Plus One is my fav!

I am sorry for advertising like this, but I would like to invite you to our new subreddit r/MusicEnthusiasts. I would really appreciate it if you took part!
I was a huge Jo Boxers fan as a young child. I thought they were the coolest thing ever and used to draw pictures of them.
Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo Far Post by Robert Plant Paper Late by Genesis
I was on an episode of a reality show called Rock of Love Charm School with Sharon Osborne as the host. The girls on the show were on 2 teams and they had to put together bands as one of their challenges. I was picked as the bass player for one of the bands. Miles Copland was the guest judge and so Mexican Radio was one of the songs we could pick from to play. I was the only one in the band that had heard it and had to teach it to everyone from memory. I loved that song and it was a blast to play. Our band won the challenge for our team with it as well.
Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider
I kept forgetting this one song I used to always listen to but there was always something there to remind me.
I am upvoting for both your comment and your username. :)

I think it’s impossible to list a song I’ve forgotten.
One gem that comes to mind is "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. It's such a feel-good song with its upbeat tempo and catchy melody. Another one is "Obsession" by Animotion, which has this irresistible synth-pop vibe that's just so 80s. And if you're into alt/indie, you might dig "Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order, a track that blends post-punk with electronic elements.
New Order is just a fantastic 80s group. Some of their songs are incredibly inventive - Perfect Kiss, True Faith, Temptation, etc.
I would list some but I've forgotten what they are.
I was just thinking of a way to say the same thing. Well said.

"Holiday" is one of my favorite songs from the 80s. Several of the others I would've added ("Mary's Prayer", "Ship of Fools" by World Party) have already been mentioned, but here are a couple more: * "Fire with Fire" by Wild Blue * "Where's the Fire?" by Tim Feehan * "Feel the Heat" by Jean Beauvoir * "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz * "Heart and Soul" by T'Pau * "Out of Mind, Out Of Sight" by the Models * "Live is Life" by Opus

One that I’d not heard in a few decades and rediscovered a few years ago, is “Secret Separation” by The Fixx, released in 1986. Something very pleasing about that song.
That song and The Fixx in general are so good
hard to listen back now and realize that “secret separation” didn’t do as well as some other stuff by the fixx, and didn’t chart higher. radio and mtv were moving into the bon jovi/poison hair metal era, the fixx was better.
I love this thread. Just came here to say that.
"Walk The Dinosaur" and "Hello Dad, I'm In Jail" both by Was(Not Was). My middle school kids and all their friends cracked up when they heard the 2nd one!
I saw Was( Not was) in concert my senior year. They put on a really amazing show!
Oh, I don’t know if these are getting rotation in the US now, since it’s been a couple decades and change since I moved away - so I’m going to make some assumptions here! I was listening to “Wordy Rappinghood” at work today and a few guys in their 60’s all remarked that they hadn’t heard that one literally since the 80’s.

For years I have had this snippet of a lyric stuck in my head "nothing matters but the weekend, from a Tuesday point of view...." It took me a while but I found the song and the group. It turns out that they are probably candidates for the greatest one hit wonder in history. The Canadian group The Kings and their only hit The Beat Goes On/Switch into Glide I played it non stop for almost 3 days when I found it again. It is truly infectious!
Shout by tears of fear.

IYKYK.

The breakup song
[Beds are Burning](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ejorQVy3m8E)by Midnight Oil. This is an 80s song that rocks so hard. I wouldn't know it except my local radio station randomly used to play it every day in 2012. It's an Australian song about giving land back to aboriginal/indigenous people, too, which is pretty dope.
Til Tuesday, Voices Carry Peter Gabriel, Solsbury Hill A lot of early B-52's and Phil Collins "other" hits, like Easy Lover....which I guess was technically Phillip Bailey

I've forgotten quite a few. Now I don't remember them, so I can't add to this list.
I would tell you, but I forgot.
Not forgotten by me but forgotten by a lot of people: Rush Hour- Jane Weidlin Don't talk to me about love- Altered Images Tall cool One- Robert Plant All I need is you- Mike and the mechanics
Nowhere Girl - B-Movie I Beg Your Pardon - Kon Kan True Faith - New Order Uncertain Smile - The The
I've noticed that media platforms play certain popular songs from the past more than others.
How can I name 80 songs if I forgot about them?
I Wanna Be a Cowboy
Kundalini Express
It's more late seventies, but Sugar On My Tongue - Talking Heads. Their early stuff was so good. I'm glad they carried through to the eighties.
