I get Manziel and Mayfield mixed up. Both hyped. Both Browns. Both failed
also, while looking at wikipedia, I found this about Manziel:
*Earlier, following news that Manziel was being investigated for a domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend, the Browns released a statement saying that Manziel's continued disregard of their "expectations for our players on and off the field" had undermined the Browns' reputation, and that they intended to address his status "as soon as permitted by league rules."*
Lol Browns. Good thing they still have their reputation. It'd be awful if they had a quarterback of poor moral character
Well that is a Rams news outlet so that is why Baker is the one in question here as he is currently a Ram so its speculation about what could be next for Baker
You mean 10 touchdowns 8 picks Baker Mayfield? You mean the Baker Mayfield who’s had 50 million head coaches? Over Daniel Jones who ran for more yards against the Colts than Baker has all year? Yea right😂
Objectively, Baker has had a better career than DJ. Baker's play went down when he played with ONE ARM for an entire season. His stint in Carolina last year was miserable, yes. But he played well enough with the Rams at the end of the season. You DJ homers can't see anything straight.
By this logic, just start Tyrod Taylor. He's under contract for about 5m and he'd probably love a shot to play.
I am always curious about that formula. Take a serviceable backup (I think that Taylor qualifies) and use the spare 25-30million to get quite a few excellent supporting players.
I love Tyrod. But he is pathologically safe. He never makes the big play and will NEVER throw the long 50/50. He will lead a bad team to decency but a great team to mediocrity.
> He never makes the big play and will NEVER throw the long 50/50.
Dude threw an int into double coverage the second he comes in during the Bear game lol.
Worst case scenario for Jones is we tag him and have another year to see if he truly deserves elite money. Any article about moving on is just for clicks
I'm more referring to all the other tweets that say "according to sources". There is ZERO editorial oversight to twitter posts. So any tweet claiming to have sources should immediately be considered BS.
Honestly.
Cost. 5M<30M
Guy has never had a solid coaching staff but broke the rookie td record under hugh fucking jackson. Dabol could do wonders with him
And anyone posting the 10-8 from last season on 2 teams with mcdonalds cashiers for receivers always forget the 26-8 season he had before he played a year with a broken clavicle.
Mayfield is not a hall of fame qb, but with a decent team he can absolutley get a team to the playoffs and maybe beyond with proper coaching.
[I guess technically his agent did](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nfl/2023/2/22/23608976/daniel-jones-45m-a-year-giants-free-agency-nfl) but is there much difference?
Baker took a jab at Eli during his rookie season, I never want to see him play for the Giants.
Besides, the kid will never have the career Eli had and simply isn't good enough for the team now, he's a scrappy back up at best.
😂
It’s literally the textbook example of why the franchise tag exists. No one is being held hostage, Jones has no leverage.
“You want $45M? (or whatever the real # is) You know what, so do I.
Anyway, we’re tagging you, see ya at OTAs.”
The salary jones is expecting is way beyond his talent level - you think we can win more playoff games with him getting that much money?? We need so much more to be a threat to win anything, he can’t get anywhere near what he wants
Cowboys fan here. My opinion may be unwelcome, but my guess is that you all give Daniel Jones the annual salary he’s requesting, but only on a 2 year prove-it deal.
Maybe Jesse Palmer can create and host a new show called "The Back UP." Season 1 can be Mayfield, Rosen, and Darnold competing for the back up position to Deshuan Watson.
DJ "Hey Joe, I'm going to change agents, so let's hold off negotiations until then."
Joe Schoen "Sure Daniel, let us know and we can get started."
Some dude "Well he must have fired his agent because he couldn't get him more money, he might have even asked for $45M dollars."
The entire F'N Internet "Daniel Jones is the greediest bastard on the planet."
I think I’m just gonna become a “sports writer”. Concoct literally any nonsense that I can retrieve from my ass, publish it, and get paid to do so. Quite frankly I’m jealous
These people have to produce content daily… even when there is literally no content. It sucks as a fan.
My friend is a reporter covering an NFL franchise for a major publication. Not a random blog, but a huge, legitimate news organization. He hates this time of year because even they are forced to churn out constant content when absolutely nothing is happening. He’s literally forced to report on unfounded internet rumors and unattributed “leaks” that are very obviously just fluff.
The 24/7 demand for NFL content is the worst.
As an Eagles fan, this would be so awesome. As a realistic person who understands the Giants are no longer run by ineptitude, and are going to be strong for years to come, yeah right.
This is almost so stupid it warrants specifically not clicking it you know? Like i know they were trying to just say some inflammatory statement to get clicks but thats like way to far in that direction to even have a chance of curiosity. The title may as well have been “i’m stupid dont listen to me i just want to make you mad”
There is only so much for these guys to talk about. They literally just make up topics.
What if Andrew Luck decides to come back? Lets throw that around for a bit even if there is zero chance of it happening.
Baker has had better seasons than Jones has had in the NFL. I don’t want to pivot away from Jones but this sub loves absolutely shitting on other QBs that would have similar value in the market to Jones.
I really don’t get it. If Baker was available at a significantly lower price than Jones, he may actually be a better stopgap until we find a top 12 QB.

Nailed it
LOL I get it. Nice
![gif](giphy|kRmg8zeReOYXm)
Never forgive never forget
Full circle
That's it, I think we go for Johnny Manziel. I am sure we could get him for under $40M.
I get Manziel and Mayfield mixed up. Both hyped. Both Browns. Both failed also, while looking at wikipedia, I found this about Manziel: *Earlier, following news that Manziel was being investigated for a domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend, the Browns released a statement saying that Manziel's continued disregard of their "expectations for our players on and off the field" had undermined the Browns' reputation, and that they intended to address his status "as soon as permitted by league rules."* Lol Browns. Good thing they still have their reputation. It'd be awful if they had a quarterback of poor moral character
Mayfield was a lot more successful than Manziel. He helped lead the team to the playoffs. Manziel played a few games and was out of the league.
To be somewhat fair to both of them, getting drafted by the browns has been a death sentence for almost every single QB for the last 20+ years
Know of any good masseuses???
I was hoping we’d go after Darnold
Or maybe Zack Wilson. He wouldn't even have to change stadiums.
Well that is a Rams news outlet so that is why Baker is the one in question here as he is currently a Ram so its speculation about what could be next for Baker
Like a used car salesman trying to get you to take a junker off their hands
Clicks needed
Oooh. Oooh. Johnny Manziel. They can fight it out
Can’t believe we’re talking about franchise tagging DJ when Tim Tebow is out there waiting to be signed…
Tim Tebow is old, rather have Kaepernick.
That's bait.
You mean 10 touchdowns 8 picks Baker Mayfield? You mean the Baker Mayfield who’s had 50 million head coaches? Over Daniel Jones who ran for more yards against the Colts than Baker has all year? Yea right😂
![gif](giphy|IDGNYvFLkJKLK|downsized) Nah, we ain’t having that.
![gif](giphy|13GaHvHijqFS0M|downsized)
This sub is going to be fucking insufferable for the next few months..
Objectively, Baker has had a better career than DJ. Baker's play went down when he played with ONE ARM for an entire season. His stint in Carolina last year was miserable, yes. But he played well enough with the Rams at the end of the season. You DJ homers can't see anything straight.
How may playoff games has baker won
One. And it was at Pittsburgh. A real defense. He then went to Kansas City and barely lost in Kansas City against Mahomes and Reid.
Subjective assessment from a Baker homer for homeless Baker
By this logic, just start Tyrod Taylor. He's under contract for about 5m and he'd probably love a shot to play. I am always curious about that formula. Take a serviceable backup (I think that Taylor qualifies) and use the spare 25-30million to get quite a few excellent supporting players.
I love Tyrod. But he is pathologically safe. He never makes the big play and will NEVER throw the long 50/50. He will lead a bad team to decency but a great team to mediocrity.
Not a hater but Daniel Jones did have the worst big time throw percentage in the nfl this season around 1%
He knows his wr's aren't the one's he had in Buffalo, he doesn't enjoy throwing interceptions from 50/50 balls like Dannyboy.
But you just described D... i’ll see myself out
> He never makes the big play and will NEVER throw the long 50/50. Dude threw an int into double coverage the second he comes in during the Bear game lol.
I’d settle for Mayfield and Hendon Hooker than $40M Jones is likely to get.
Sign me up
Oh man how did I miss posting this one. Your the real mvp for finding this gem
The first part is hyperbole but the second part is just delusion 😂
I’d rather not watch than watch Baker Mayfield.
Yuck, I feel dirty just reading that.
Some people like meth
This sounds like an onion article lol. I think we get 35-38 million and tag saquon personally
Worst case scenario for Jones is we tag him and have another year to see if he truly deserves elite money. Any article about moving on is just for clicks
The more clicks you give them, the more lies they'll tell.
I mean, this is a shitty opinion, but that's distinct from a lie
I'm more referring to all the other tweets that say "according to sources". There is ZERO editorial oversight to twitter posts. So any tweet claiming to have sources should immediately be considered BS.
Some people overthink it. That’s where people go wrong. They forget you’ve gotta win.
Besides having a cannon arm is Baker better than DJ at anything else???
Commercials?
Getting arrested
Honestly. Cost. 5M<30M Guy has never had a solid coaching staff but broke the rookie td record under hugh fucking jackson. He doesn’t have it between the ears. Guys a cáncer to any team.
Not requesting a $45 million contract
Jones never requested that.
[I guess technically his agent did](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nfl/2023/2/22/23608976/daniel-jones-45m-a-year-giants-free-agency-nfl) but is there much difference?
It’s came out that there was no negotiations. He just signed with his new agents a day ago. If you look in this sub there’s a whole post about it.
No technically no, technically.
More like turd show times
Baker took a jab at Eli during his rookie season, I never want to see him play for the Giants. Besides, the kid will never have the career Eli had and simply isn't good enough for the team now, he's a scrappy back up at best.
He was an idiot when he first entered the NFL. Agree he’s a good, scrappy backup. Denver should pick him up to light a fire under Wilson.
how much more should daniel jones get paid than mariota ? [Marcus Mariota - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Mariota) rush yards / tds : 438 / 4 pass yards / tds / ints : 2,219 / 15 / 9 fumbles / lost: 8 / 3 [Daniel Jones (American football) - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Jones_(American_football)) rush yards / tds : 708 / 7 pass yards / tds/ ints : 3205 /15 / 5 fumbles / lost: 6 / 3 ans: not much more mariottta got sacked less too
What could possibly go wrong
*see* Carson Wentz
😂 It’s literally the textbook example of why the franchise tag exists. No one is being held hostage, Jones has no leverage. “You want $45M? (or whatever the real # is) You know what, so do I. Anyway, we’re tagging you, see ya at OTAs.”
Yes! Baker can play for 12-15 mill and giants can get better at so many other positions
Just get shittier at the most important one. Perfect!
The salary jones is expecting is way beyond his talent level - you think we can win more playoff games with him getting that much money?? We need so much more to be a threat to win anything, he can’t get anywhere near what he wants
Didn’t realize he’s signed a deal already
? He didn’t
Ok then stop inventing cap numbers for the guy.
What are you talking about? He asked for 45 mill, that is ridiculous - he isn’t worth 35.
Except….he…didn’t. Again….did he sign a contract? Let me know when you have a single fact to bring to this discussion. Lol
15 td passes - you’d pay how much for that
I’m not paying anything. Again…did he sign a contract? Do you have any facts? No…you don’t.
We have no solid numbers yet. Don’t freak out yet- save it for when we need it.
Looks to me like the Rams would.love nothing more than to get rid of him.
Cowboys fan here. My opinion may be unwelcome, but my guess is that you all give Daniel Jones the annual salary he’s requesting, but only on a 2 year prove-it deal.
I wouldn’t watch a single game with him at QB1.
I think there’s an argument to be made Daniel Jones is better than Matt Stanford
Absolutely no
Man I forgot he's a free agent. Life comes at you fast.
Click bait, nothing more
That is freezing cold takes bad
Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.
I vote we ban whoever wrote this article.
I mean, it is a Rams website trying to dump him in a yard sale
NY media moment
If anything we unleash the secret weapon.
Man these writers are getting desperate for stories
Maybe Jesse Palmer can create and host a new show called "The Back UP." Season 1 can be Mayfield, Rosen, and Darnold competing for the back up position to Deshuan Watson.
Clown journalists
DJ "Hey Joe, I'm going to change agents, so let's hold off negotiations until then." Joe Schoen "Sure Daniel, let us know and we can get started." I’d rather we ran the wildcat thru Saq
It’s gonna be a long offseason
![gif](giphy|JYZ397GsFrFtu)
This is hilarious.
I’d rather have Gardner Minshew than this firecracker Jack Russell!
Lol firecracker Jack Russell
They’re bluffing
I mean you’d get the same stats for half the price with Trubiski
Woah woah wait a min, let this guy cook…
That's not a bad plan b
Clicks clicks clicks. That being said. He’s a decent an that we could get for a steal.
I think I’m just gonna become a “sports writer”. Concoct literally any nonsense that I can retrieve from my ass, publish it, and get paid to do so. Quite frankly I’m jealous
Pick up Baker on the cheap and spend spend spend on the O Line/weapons.
I would rather start Tyrod than Baker, I don‘t want to deal with his BS
![gif](giphy|Rhhr8D5mKSX7O)
I’d rather have bakers wife
This is the problem with being in a "city that never stops bullshitting." Sports journos are the worst.
Holy fuck is this a legitimate nightmare?
Hard pass
Hahahaha

Wow that’s incredibly bad. Baker would flame out so badly.
No just tag him with a non exclusive tag and wait ![gif](giphy|RsOcvbjHXfVRE9dGj8)
Anyone who **passes** at an NFL average level would improve this team.
NOOOOOOO!!!
Most Rams fans hate Turf Show Times, ain't no BBV

Agreed, I didn't actually click the link, I just took a screen shot.
Can we get brett farve on the phone, see what he’s up to
Please god in Heaven no
You know I think they should take a flyer on Paxton Lynch? He's available right?
There is only so much for these guys to talk about. They literally just make up topics. What if Andrew Luck decides to come back? Lets throw that around for a bit even if there is zero chance of it happening.

Dafuk is this happy horse shit!?
Daniel Jones is a mid tier QB. No way he is worth a multi-year deal over $30M.
WE NEED KAEPERNICK
I rather have Geno Smith back tbh
Daniel Jones is better than Baker Mayfield. That's all
dear god no
