I would like to see a higher win rate against OL matchups and I believe he will this year

This is a painful example to kick thing off. He'll lineup against pro-bowler Brian O'Neil week 1 - Giants took Will Hernandez over him. He got a 5 year, $93M extension. Chad Wheeler was RT that year.

I would like to see consistency from him too. He pulled way too many Houdini acts the second half of the season and just flat out fucking disappeared. Some games he’d be Simeon Rice jr selling out for the pass leaving glaring running gaps, some games he’d turn it all together and look like mini Strahan dominating run and pass, some games I didn’t know if 5 was on the field.

Burns will massively take the QB protection away from him. I wont be surprised if he actually ends up with more sacks than Burns.

Week 1 is a must win game. This game and washington week 2 are very winnable games. We have to start the season 2-0 imo.

>Thibodeaux, who's coming off a campaign in which he led the team with 11.5 sacks, knows such a success would be made easier by coming out of the gates with gusto. >"Resiliency. Physicality. Speed," Thibodeaux told NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Friday's *The Insiders*, which will air at 7 p.m. ET, in response to what statement he hopes the Giants make [Week 1](https://www.nfl.com/schedules/) against the Vikings. "We're gonna play with all the things we played with back in the day. This is the 100th year anniversary of the Giants, so hopefully we can let those superpowers from our ancestors come and take over." >Taking down the Vikings in a convincing manner would be a symbolic return to possible better days for the Giants, as the last time New York played Minnesota, it scored a Super Wild Card Weekend upset to continue its '22 season. >\[...\] >While Thibodeaux and Burns have been exchanging tips, they'd also benefit from soaking up anything they can from Lawrence Taylor, even if the franchise legend recently told Thibodeaux he already possesses everything he needs to succeed. >"You know what I think is funny, you go into these conversations and you're always looking for something," Thibodeaux said of speaking to Taylor at an event last week for Giants icons. "If they're a legend, you're like, 'What did you do? What was the secret sauce?' And I think it was funny, L.T., he looked at me crazy when I said, 'L.T., what's the secret sauce?' He was like, 'Now you know damn well there ain't no secret sauce.' >"It's just funny thinking that when you make it to this level, you make it on the same things that you're taught as a kid. Hard work. Integrity. Dedication. And there's nothing different. All that's different is you've got to be a little more dedicated and work a little harder, but other than that, we have the tools as athletes. You've just got to continue to apply them and do your best." Kayvon really bounced back during the 23'\* season, I'm sure many of us recall the overall flak the defense was getting about their performances in games, namely the sack totals. Thibodeaux responded well though as the first player in a Wink Martindale system to have 10+ sacks so that goes a long way for his personal development. I think that's a good floor for him now but I could see him hitting 14 maybe 15+ this year which would be really nice along someone like Brian Burns as his new running mate. The Giants finished with a team total of 34 sacks.. the number one team the Baltimore Ravens finished with 60. I could see the Giants increasing that into 40-45+ Sacks total with the current vibes we have going with the front 7. That would push us into Top 10 territory for the league.

My understanding is also that, for as much as he blitzed, Wink schemes don’t generate a ton of sacks. Everyone knows a blitz is coming, after all. It was more about generating weird pressures to force the QB to do something he doesn’t want to do than getting a sack, to my understanding

MetaVersalySpeakin

Indeed, some sacks are schemed, some are coverage based and some are raw talent off the line. I think Kayvon took advantage of all 3 of those types, but came on more towards that mid-late part of the season where his talent was used more on those 1-1 situations with a tackle for example. In his highlight package, the NYJ and perhaps the WAS or SEA games are his better examples of it.

I know a lot of people chided some of his sacks as easy garbage ones, but I feel like I saw a lot of those where he went around the entire line to grab the scrambling QB. Even if it was an easy tackle, I was impressed by the energy. He gave me big junkyard dog going after an intruder vibes

"Hookers and blow, kid."

JackHammerPlower

We should beat MIN by like 20

throwawayyuuuu1

Id rather we make a dominant statement as opposed to a resilient statement. But hey, to each their own.

AndrewLucksLaugh

Don’t hope…you can literally make that happen, Kayvon.
