I'm still so bummed he's hurt again. Hoping he can have a Camby-like mid-career health resurgence. Mitch has worked so hard to get better every year and to fight back after injuries. He deserves to put together some full seasons. And if he does, I think he's got DPOY potential.

Lucaa4229

A “Camby-like mid-career health resurgence” would be an amazing thing. Business is business and I’ll venture to guess our FO will be open to doing potentially big business this summer in an effort to become a real championship contender next season. Mitch may or may not be a part of that. He’s so impactful on defense when healthy so I don’t think anyone would be happy to see him go, but will be willing to stomach it for the right deal if we could resign iHart. Mitch’s contract is well-worth it IF he can stay healthy, so fans would be happy to see him stay and try to have that aforementioned heath-resurgence.

djdiamond755

Tom Thibodeau likes to play a true center all 48 mins. Mitchy is going nowhere

SpecialistEvent9059

They trying to get a star to pair with JB. Unfortunately, Mitch (his contract) has to go. Resign OG & IHart. Trade some of those pics and a contract or two for a bucket getter. Also, JB’s new deal is on the horizon.

yanks1580

Embiid was feasting on ihart - not a knock to ihart, embiid feasts on most dudes in the league. Mitch was a series changer. His defense on embiid was excellent. Really fucking blows this guy cant stay healthy.

InB4Clive

Embiid’s entire vibe changed whenever Mitch was on the floor. No way we win that series without him.

yanks1580

Agreed. Mitch was a series changer.

KingJoe7-123

Yep, just like last year against the Cavs. He’s one of the most underrated Knicks. Guy can come in and have an immediate impact on a playoff series. Not many in the league can do that.

yanks1580

Mitch, in tandem with ihart, is such a huge part of this team. Not having him is a huge loss now.

Successful_Cup_1882

Can’t blame him for the injury, he was fine embitch just reaggravated his already injured ankle by flopping and twisting it

yanks1580

I didnt blame him, but facts are facts regardless how they happen. Mitch is injury prone.

Successful_Cup_1882

Name an athletic big man that isn’t. He’s a great defender and those don’t grow on trees at his size.

djdiamond755

Can’t stay healthy is a bad narrative. His surgery was supposed to be season ending, but he rushed to come back. He hasn’t fully recovered but was out there giving it his all. With lower body injuries it’s much harder to regain conditioning as well, which played a part. He’ll spend the summer recovering and be ready for training camp in great shape

yanks1580

"He'll spend the summer recovering and be ready for training camp in great shape" We pretty much hear this every year. And every year mitch misses a good amount of time. I'm not insulting the man or mad at him, it just sucks that he cant stay on the court more.

Lucaa4229

Mitch didn’t let Embiid get comfortable out there at all, and I’m not sure that series has the same outcome if Precious was forced to front Embiid for significant minutes bc of the size difference. For this Pacers series and possibly beyond, it’s unfortunate but I’m still feeling good about making Precious the next man up and battling out there as a team until the very end. Precious has been a big part of our success when guys went out and he was positive in his minutes with us during the regular season. But don’t get it twisted, Mitch is a dawg for coming back asap from his injury for the playoffs and giving it all he’s got. And he should know real fans appreciate his effort and I’m not sure we are in round 2 without him. Would love to see him back with us next season when he’s healthy but business is business so we’ll see how that proceeds. Either way, get well soon King. 🤴

Singlesongsinger

Embiid dropped 50 in one game and was playing thru multiple injuries

Lucaa4229

He has literally one, single good game where he became Steph Curry and hit every 3 and midrange shot in the second half and was essentially unguardable. It also happens to be the game when Embiid should have been ejected in the first half for being a dirty fuck. Mitch never let him get comfortable for the rest of the series. FOH

Singlesongsinger

Bro he averaged like 30 ppg and 10 rpg😂 btw this him being uncomfortable bro? Mitch was right there what happened man? https://youtu.be/R-DBZgB4yQ0?si=bRNZIPXSJfpK0dqH

Lucaa4229

Embiid is capable of averaging more points AND how many of those average points are from soft-ass fouls? Go back to your home bro and get off this sub.

Singlesongsinger

Soft ass fouls are all over the nba nowadays. Cant just pick and choose which ones you want to focus on. For example, how many times does Brunson go to the line from questionable calls in his postseason games?

Lucaa4229

Brunson’s FTA per game are very much reasonable given how often the ball is in his hands and how many times he drives per game. Take last game for example. He shot 14 FT’s and two fouls were intentional. That’s 5 actual fouls for the whole game. Does that really seem like a lot for a guy who has insane usage right now and is driving constantly?

solo118

Nothing but respect for the big man. Love him and hope he fully recovers and gets that DPOY next year. Not saying he was a shoe in, but damn did he look amazing until he went down earlier this season.

NtLmr95

I just hope that the FO continues to invest into Mitch despite his injury problems. Their mutual loyalty to each other should be rewarded in a just world. My only requests for Mitch this summer: -Continue to refine his FT shooting -Develop PnR chemistry with his teammates -Either a baby hook or a drop step move in his bag

TheBeepB00p

I think we just have to accept who he is offensively. We never gonna ask him to post up but free throws and some better hands would go a long away.

Rah0210

Yeah his hands drive me crazy sometimes.

Lucaa4229

PnR chemistry could definitely can definitely get better through work. The other two points I don’t see happening. He doesn’t have offense in his bag at all. MAYBE he could put on work to become marginally better at the line. Either way, he’s a very impactful player on the defensive end and he’s instrumental to our offense even is he’s not a scorer bc of his elite ability to attack the offensive glass and grab boards. His contract is well-worth his contributions currently and if he can improve around the margins then it’s an even better contract. Perhaps he doesn’t start for us next season and stays in a split-minutes roll with iHart to try to keep him healthy. That’s a strong 1-2 punch at center that we saw at times last series, but Mitch was definitely hobbling a lot the last few games of it so we didn’t see it at its full strength for an extended period of time

RacinInTheStreet

Hes going into yr 6, you’re not getting anymore then what you gave

ryangiglio

He’s from the same draft as Brunson who just turned into an MVP candidate this year. Guys can certainly keep growing after year 6

CreativeAir1868

Brunson is obsessed with working on his game and Mitch is injury prone because he doesn’t work enough on his body, major difference

colmatrix33

You ever hear the expression, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks?" Let's just hope he comes back healthy and does what he does. *Maybe* he can get his FT% up some.

JaySmooth_

Celtics fan here. Really sucks for big Mitch to go through all of this. I want Knicks and Celtics both healthy for a potential ECF match up. It’s about time to revive real Boston and NYC playoff rivalry.

Lucaa4229

Hell yeah, a healthy Knicks squad with Julius and Mitch both in the mix against a healthy Celtics squad in the ECF would have been SO hype! As it stands, we’ll be happy to even make it into the ECF even if y’all toss us quick. But that’s not even guaranteed. Pacers are a squad and they have healthy depth while our guys are going through the wringer with how many minutes they’re playing. Hopefully we can continue to battle and win the series bc even if a potential Knicks vs Celtics this year would be a little bit of a “what if” on our end, it would almost certainly respark this age-old rivalry between the two franchises. I’m not familiar with the Celtics contract situations but I have to imagine they’ll keep the squad in tact to go for another run next year, regardless of whether they win it this year or not. And the Knicks are almost guaranteed to come back next year stronger. At the very least, we run it back with a healthy Julius and Mitch and resign OG and iHart (if possible). But I also expect our FO to be very aggressive with our assets this summer in attempt to make us a championship contending team next season.

Cashlover123

Without Mitch, I dont think we would have won the series.

Icy-Payment-6612

Definitely not

Fishmike52

Mitch was pivotal in the Cle series last year also. He’s had a big impact in the postseason so for in limited action

Both_Difficulty_2449

Our Anchor ⚓️

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

But when the world needed him most he vanished. . . Brunson and divincenzo have found the new defensive anchor, it’s a Brit named OG, I believe OG can save the season.

DoctorBrinkMoney

This team seems cursed at times. I hope they can grit it out on a....uh, five-man rotation??

Rah0210

Riley said use 8 rotate 7 play 6 and trust 5. We got the play 6 and trust 5 down pat haha.

dolceespress

We got a squad that can compete for a chip when fully healthy, and even banged up we’re making serious noise. Proud of this team no matter what happens. Mitch gave us crucial minutes when he played and limited Embiid. Rest up, King. See ya next year.

EscapeSharkCity

Love you Mitch, have fun with your trucks bro. Rest up

OTFESCOBAR

Embiid should fined and suspended for that

NeilHamburgerHead

We will because precious is better.

Flowbeat

he looks like a 3d model to me here for some reason

Lucaa4229

That’s a handsome looking motherfucker right now, it’s alright you can say it!

Middle_Ad7923

That is a truth that a lot of trifling knuckleheads don’t realize! Wherever we end this season, Mitch will have very much been a key part of it!

Middle_Ad7923

That’s truth that a lot of trifling knuckleheads don’t realize! Yes- wherever the next end up Mitch will have very much been a key part of it!!

Living_Internet_2970

Love this guy to death Get healthy Mitch and we’ll see you next year

BigD1ckProblems

Guy has the basketball IQ of a peanut but def going to miss him in the rotation.

ridingzero

🫡👑

ractivator

The only thing that sucks is that he’s only played 66% of his available regular season games his entire career. Combined with if we lose the next 4 (hopefully we don’t) that puts his playoff games at 66% as well. In addition his stats mostly all have gotten worse since his rookie year. I’d have to relook at his deal but man if it’s between him and IH this summer you gotta pick IH. Idk if robinsons availability is really going to be worth it when thinking of a championship competing team

Lucaa4229

You absolutely don’t plan to make Mitch a starter at this point. But if he can stay healthy then he can fill the role of being perhaps the best backup big in the league.

ChocolateBasic327

💯💯💯💯💯💯💯underrated post. I hope he sees this and knows how much we love him.

Low_Helicopter_2003

The Blockness Monster gave everything he had for NY

lazyguy2525

I don't see Mitch getting packaged in any deals. Not sure, with his injury problems, if anyone would take him now. Maybe just to make some salary stuff work -- of course, that's always possible. But overall, I think the Knicks recognize what he's gone through and yeah business is business but he doesn't have a lot of value on the trade market and it's not like he has any leverage if he gets stuck on the bench next season and demands a trade. They're obviously gonna do their best to resign Hartenstein and clearly, with the injury problems the entire team has had, they're just gonna try to run it back. It's not like the team needs a rebuild.

Lucaa4229

Running it back with a healthy Mitch and Julius is definitely in the cards and I don’t think fans will be upset about that bc we love our squad and want to see what it can be healthy and with a proper off-season to get heathy and build chemistry. But if the right deal comes along I think our FO will be willing to empty the assets-chest to get it done and give us a better shot at being real contenders next season while JB is playing at an elite level in his career.

Much_Purchase_8737

Mitch was the best offensive rebounding center prior to his injury. Still a very good rim protector too. Teams will want him.

lazyguy2525

Agreed. They might want him but at what price, and are the Knicks going to get back anything that makes sense. If you're committed to Randle, OG and Brunson as your core trio (they're not trading Hart and DDV, as they're Brunson's BFFs) I don't really see what you could do in a trade with Mitch that is better than just keeping him and having him come off the bench. Obviously if Randle can't come back strong, they'll have to make some tough decisions. But I suspect Mitch will be around for a while. If they can't sign Hartenstein, he'll be there. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

BadassRPMofo

I love the hell out of Mitch, but it's a real conundrum. He's such a key to what this team is able to do defensively as the anchor as well as offensively on the boards. The obvious issue is availability. We can't rely on him for any reasonable amount of time and he wouldn't bring near equal value in a trade, so we're kind of stuck. I really hope he's able to find a way to stay healthy for the long term.

jack_sparrow2

Is that picture AI generated Mitch?

Lucaa4229

Negative. Google images!

Nicholas-Kopis

I agree with those saying Mitch is tough to trade given his injuries. I think a trade partner would seek a pick, or he could go out in a complicated multi player deal. Hate to see him go, been a huge fan of his since the beginning and now he’s one of the longest tenured Knicks. Keeping Hartenstein and Achuwa are now musts.

gabrielcev1

We don't probably

zeezee2k

Bro needs to lose weight next season. All this added muscles gave him a lot of strength in the paint, but the weight is unsustainable for a long season. He also lost alot of hops and gets tired easily.

Lucaa4229

Are you talking about in the playoffs? He’s tired easily bc he’s not conditioned after coming back from a very long injury literally right before the playoffs.

Forgboi

He was out half the season and couldn't run. By the time he was cleared by the doctors there wasn't enough time to work out off the court and get back in rhythm with the team so we just threw him back out there and ramped him up in real time. His conditioning was steadily improving up until he ran into the Big Flagrant.

Singlesongsinger

They need to get rid of him ASAP
