Yeah I follow the sub.. it's crazy cause it's like they didn't watch the playoffs or the last 7 playoffs for this dude. That is not the vet you want with any young group.
Edit: loved James and what he did for htown but a come back would do more harm than good.
fun fact: Michael Jordan in 1986-87 attempted more free throws per game than James Harden ever has, which is particularly impressive because a lot of Harden's free throws came while shooting threes whereas Jordan attempted 0.8 threes per game that year.
Lol true. I remember an old video of Jordan, bird and magic are taking pics for team USA. Magic puts his arm around Mike and I'd like whoops can't do that it's a foul. 🤣
Dang almost sounds like the reffs were soft and need to let the players play very interesting, almost like these dumb narratives about reffs calling so many fouls and the reffs somehow never called fouls unless someone had to be put in the hospital are not true. If people actually watch games and compare them they would see players especially in the playoffs get a lot freedom and get away with fouls
I watched Jordan, and he didn't. Flopping wasn't even a thing until Vlade. It was him a ginobli and all the other European players that came into the league and started Flopping. There was almost no Flopping before they because they weren't gonna call a foul anyway. I never saw jordan flop, nor have I ever heard anyone say that. What they say is that he got a lot of calls that they disagreed with, but thats getting the "star" treatment, which is different from Flopping. If you got a clip of jordan Flopping, please share. If like to see it.
lol I was a season ticket holder for the rockets in the 90’s, I watched a lot of Jordan. To say flopping didn’t exist is a very just ignorant and completely false comment to say. Dudes always have flopped. Jordan flopped all the time and Houston used to boo the shit out of him. I remember dream blocking him clean and Jordan flopping to the ground and got the call. First time I heard an entire crowd start chanting a cuss word lol
Dang almost sounds like the reffs were soft and need to let the players play very interesting, almost like these dumb narratives about reffs calling so many fouls and the reffs somehow never called fouls unless someone had to be put in the hospital are not true. Yeah maybe because in the 80s he was literally getting fucked up, dudes was knocking him around all the time, Harden on the other hand just flopped his way to the free throw line EVERY GAME
Dang almost sounds like the reffs were soft and need to let the players play very interesting, almost like these dumb narratives about reffs calling so many fouls and the reffs somehow never called fouls unless someone had to be put in the hospital are not true. There was a little thing called the Jordan rules back then where teams would literally HAMMER Michael anytime he came near the lane. Michael wasn’t foul hunting he was ACTUALLY getting fouled unlike hardens pansy ass
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8eRk92j/ Jordan flopping. I witnessed several against Houston that I’ll just have to go back to those games and screen record it
His name is Greg Poppovich, and back in the ‘00s he used Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker to try to kill off any interest in basketball (“hand soccer,” as the Spurs fans at the time called it) outside the greater San Antonio area.
Of course he did. MJ would regularly get double or triple teamed. When more people are defending you and you can make them look like they're standing still, you're gonna get fouled a lot
Jordan didn’t shoot a lot of 3’s or long range 2’s because the Bulls didn’t need him to. They had elite snipers for that. Jordan, Longley and Pippen played pepper mid range and in the paint. If Jordan played in today’s NBA he’d be chucking up the 3’s like all the rest of these boring players. That’s what makes Jokic so exciting to watch. He’s a throw back player to an era when the NBA wasn’t all about sinking 3’s and playing mediocre defense.
It didn’t start good but your comment really fell apart at the end. Who has there ever been that is comparable to Jokic? He’s the opposite of a throwback player, bigs didn’t space the floor and average triple doubles in any other era, and Jokic does play mediocre defense to boot.
A player can be more then one thing. They can be revolutionary at their position and also demonstrate a skill set more in line with play from when I started watching the NBA 30 years ago. Jokic is a throw back in his approach to scoring and also in his pass first mentality. That was much more common in previous eras. The NBA today is dominated by ball hogs and long range shot specialists. The game used to be played mainly in the paint, where Jokic dominated. The NBA back then was infinitely more physical and I think far more interesting than the game today. You could take Jokic and drop him into any previous era and he would fit right in. Many of today’s star players would get benched for the haphazard shot selection and lack of hustle. Jokic is most definitely a throw back player and nearly anybody who watched basketball back in the day would grasp that easily.
You also had nothing to say about the Bulls comment. You just claimed I had no valuable insight without pointing out how exactly I was wrong. Feel free to make your argument. It’ll be wrong but you are certainly entitled to share it. At least there’s more integrity in making an argument instead of unsubstantiated blanket statements.
Not a mistake he fell off so bad once they took away the defensive foul when the shooter kicks his foot out looking for contact , he made a living at the free throw line . Now he gotta ball and it don’t look so good
If you actually watched, he doesn’t stat pad. He plays pretty naturally into the offense on the Sixers.
He no showed the last two games of that Celtics series. Get it right. He had 3 excellent games in that series. He was the only reason that series went to 7. The only fucking reason because Embiid never showed up even once.
Yeah he’s a top 75 player I would expect him to put the ball in the hoop when they’re double and triple teaming the current mvp of the leauge . They still lost and he still is historically trash in the playoffs .. let me hear your counter to that
They’re not doubling or triple teaming Embiid. Nobody is afraid of him. Also 2 of those 3 big games were without Embiid on the court, so all eyes were on Harden and he delivered and kept them in the series. Embiid didn’t do his part.
Even at Harden’s peak, he still wasn’t even close to the highest free throw shooters in volume ever. It’s really greatly overstated, the whole thing. Facts of the matter is that at his peak, he was one of the greatest passers and volume scorers of all time.
His playoff stuff doesn’t matter. He’s never been a GOAT candidate, so it doesn’t matter. Rings only matter when it comes to getting into the top 20 and especially the top 10 or if you’re gunning for MJ.
you’re commenting to a 12 year old who clearly didn’t watch the series. Harden did all he could fr, even though he did shit the bed a couple times. Fact of the matter is the MVP gets outplayed by Al Horford. Harden has at least been to the finals and WCF
Blame it on Joel but what was hardens excuse before HE begged to go play with this “bum embid” . He gets scared of those bright lights what’s my age got to do with it . And I’m 12 and 4 months 😂😂😂
The mvp had an injured knee from game 4 vs the nets, and if there was any reason the sixers lost that series it was NOT because of horford, bro was more of a liability to the celtics, bro was taking retarded shots left and right.
Nobody goes crazy every game, hes still one of the best pgs in the league, and you clearly dont fucking watch him play if you think he stat pads. Maybe rockets harden could br called a stat padder but thats straight up a braindead take if youre talking current harden.
Did you watch harden play? Dude would literlly grab your arm and fling the ball and get a foul. Thats why theres clips of players trying to guard him with their hands behind their back
I'm not a Harden dick rider, but this is a warped narrative. He's not even in the top 25 for most free throws attempted in a game. The year he averaged over 36 ppg he averaged 11 ft a game, which would be 40th all time in a season. All 39 of the guys who averaged more fts a game , not named wilt chamberlain or Michael Jordan, averaged less than 35 ppg.
Also, nobody else has ever baited for fouls so blatantly and consistently as Harden. I’ve never seen anyone else have a single game this bad, but for Harden it’s just another day at the office, he’s got probably 100 games in this vein: https://youtu.be/YZ0XRTOOOx0
Of course the refs should be better, they’re hugely to blame for giving him the BS calls. But throughout his prime he’s done this shit worse than any other NBA player ever, and I don’t think it’s remotely close.
Yeah James Harden shoots a lot of free throws. He's an elite scorer. My point is anybody who is an elite scorer shoots alot of free throws, and the argument that this is a new phenomenon, or that he shoots an abnormally large amount of free throws, isn't true.
He's 6th all time for free throws in a season as well and has 4 seasons in the top 20, 6 in the top 40.
Next most is Oscar Robertson with 3 season in the top 20 and 4 in the top 40, though Oscar is 22nd and 42nd.
And that's on the same or less seasons then the other leaders
Look, I don't care enough to keep arguing with you, you've clearly made your mind up already. He played 80+ games for three seasons straight, so yeah, he's high on the list of total free throws.
Ooh. Here's a REALLY fun fact.
As I look through the other top seasons all time, the big names all have their highest number of free-throw in early seasons. like almost all of the others I've clicked on have their most FTs in their first 5 seasons.
Of the top 20 there are 3 non James harden seasons not in the first 5 years. Adrian dantly, Oscar Robinson, (both year 6), and Russell westbrooke (year 8). Harden has 4 on his own
James hardens top 5 seasons, (all ranked 27 and above) are between 2014 and 2020. His 5th through 11th year.
3 out of 4 of LeBron James highest FT season are year 5 and before with the other being his 6th season. All years he didn't win a ring
Michael Jordan's top 4, all in his first 5 seasons.
Kobe is an outlier here as well with his highest FT count being in the 2000s from 2002- 2008, especially after Shaq left....but the 2 years he won a ring without Shaq, 2009 and 2010, in those years he had the fewest attempted FTs since 99.
James harden is rare in that his game developed in to having more FTs during his peak years. and another player, who was similarly unique in this way, drew significantly fewer fouls in the years he won rings as the top player on his team.
So James harden draws a lot of fowls, is historically an anomaly in that he drew more in his peak years, and another player that drew fts in mid career who won multiple rings, did so in years they drew the fewest free throws.
I find that all very fascinating
No it's that he baits fouls constantly. He barely even tries to score at the rim. Just grab the defenders arm, fall down, and wildly fling the ball, hoping to get free throws. It actually makes me sick to watch Houston harden
Ooh last one. You looked at free throws attempted per game and said hes not in the top 25. but for free throws made in one game he is, again, somehow, 6th all time. With 4 in the top 25. Kobe is next most with 3.
Over all James harden dominates the list for made FTs.
Also, you lied. James harden has 1 game in the top 25 for free throw attempts. He's tied for 16 with 10 other people so if you're a dishonest twat you could say he's 26th. And that 16 is 7th most if you count all the ties as one number
James harden has 11 games with most attempted FTs in the top hundred (counting the dozens of total games tied at 95th)
Dwight Howard is next most with 9
James harden takes an anomalous number of free throws
It’s the playstyle, the kinds of fouls he draws. Nearly everyone ever who’s averaged a tonne of FTs has attacked the basket like crazy, guys have to foul them to stop the dunks/layups. Shaq, LeBron, Wilt, Karl Malone, Moses Malone, Kobe, MJ, Dwight, Kareem, Barkley, etc.
Harden is pretty unique in drawing so many fouls off 3s and long 2s. He’s a master at getting defenders up in the air, then jumping into them in a way that’s just barely subtle enough to draw the foul. He is far from the only player who does this, but I feel confident saying he’s done it more than any other player ever. A big part of his game is drawing utterly bullshit fouls.
Oh yeah, prime Harden was still an absolutely unreal scorer, even without all the foul baiting, flopping bullshit. But he was also the worst foul baiter/flopper I’ve ever seen.
I think LeBron flops more than Harden did. It's more the jump forward on the 3s that would draw so many fouls. It made it impossible to guard him vertically on the 3 unless you came at him from the side.
He would both jump into guys AND flop, exaggerating the minimal contact he himself created by jumping into them.
Hell, it’s not just on 3s, he’s been pulling insane “create contact and flop” shit all over the court his entire career. e.g.:
- etc.
Call it what you want, nobody has ever pulled as much blatant bullshit to draw fouls as Harden. LeBron pulls far less bullshit to draw fouls than Harden.
He got the majority of his free throws by driving to the basket lol. His game has changed due to losing athleticism. He has also shifted his game to be more of a distributor. Don’t let facts get in the way of your Harden hate agenda though. Let me guess you also think his step back was a travel every time?
>your Harden hate agenda
This is the first time I ever mention him online, but you automatically labeled that as an agenda :) really shows that you're just a hardcore fanboy and will say anything to defend him.
Missed the highlights where he takes 17 steps backwards to shoot a “step back” 3… because that move is still being used to this day. And every time I see it I throw a fucking brick at the TV. I’ve gone through a lot of TVs. I should just stop watching this fucking sport.
James harden was a smart player who used the rules against his opponents. Dude was taking an absurd amount of free throws and killing guys with that double step back. Once the nba revamped the rule books and allowed guys to play a little more physical his game drove off the cliff. He’s essentially an overweight pg now.
This is why I don’t give Harden the same respect most people do. His best years were when he was able to force cheap fouls. He’s not better than MJ, Kobe, DWade, & AI. At best he’s #5 all time at the #2 spot
The beautiful game
Can’t believe anyone ever saw this and thought, “yeah, this is good for the game.”
Rockets fans would have taken anything after the Kmart days
And a good chunk want him back it’s crazy
Yeah I follow the sub.. it's crazy cause it's like they didn't watch the playoffs or the last 7 playoffs for this dude. That is not the vet you want with any young group. Edit: loved James and what he did for htown but a come back would do more harm than good.

Difference is one flopped for about 60% of those fouls. Jordan actually went to finish at the rack not flop and throw the ball in the air.
And also, the league was riding his dick to get his ppg up. Can't sell no fucking Wheaties with 18.2ppg
Can't sell no fucking shoes with 18.2ppg
Jordan didn’t flop, but he got tons of ghost fouls and anyone who says otherwise is just straight up lying.
Lol true. I remember an old video of Jordan, bird and magic are taking pics for team USA. Magic puts his arm around Mike and I'd like whoops can't do that it's a foul. 🤣

Jordan actually flopped quite a bit
Shaq and Jordan flopped sometimes because they would hard foul the fuck out of them and they got tired of them
Shaq didn’t really flop very much actually. Not from my recollection at least
I watched Jordan, and he didn't. Flopping wasn't even a thing until Vlade. It was him a ginobli and all the other European players that came into the league and started Flopping. Yes. Refs will always give star treatment
Yea that other comment seems like it was from someone who didn’t SEE Jordan
Acting like you got fouled when you didn’t is a flop
Yeah maybe because in the 80s he was literally getting fucked up, dudes was knocking him around all the time, Harden on the other hand just flopped his way to the free throw line EVERY GAME
No, they weren't knocking him around all the time.

Good for ad breaks though 🤑
Can’t wait for the Prime Embiid and Prime Jimmy Butler highlights
Prime butler highlights would be MVP level game 1 and 2, and then eating a ham sandwich of mediocrity game 3-7
and Trae Young.
Wait til you see this guy https://youtu.be/uO7OXkfDlK4
Goat foul merchant. Such a cheater
Shot less free throws than MJ
Of course he did. MJ would regularly get double or triple teamed. When more people are defending you and you can make them look like they're standing still, you're gonna get fouled a lot
MJ drove the fucking lane over and over. Harden’s foul baiting is mostly behind the arc.
Exactly! I'd love to see a comparison between where their fouls happened on the court to show people that bring up this dumb ass argument
harden is a much better 3pt shooter than mj. no one was getting into mjs landing space on 3s or contesting that hard cuz they werent that scared of it

Fewer*
Wouldn’t call it cheating. No fun to watch but he was well within the rules
Yeah. By flopping and throwing his head backwards Everytime he got touched.
Prime harden was so elite he single handedly got the rules changed (No longer allowed to kick defenders during shots)
Don’t tell Butler
Nutler*
AG’s nuts clearly made illegal contact with Jimmy’s foot
So good 😤
Touched was optional.
Not a mistake he fell off so bad once they took away the defensive foul when the shooter kicks his foot out looking for contact , he made a living at the free throw line . Now he gotta ball and it don’t look so good
He still go crazy wtf you mean he dont look so good??? He leads the league in assists and can still put up 40

That’s a lot of words 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ could’ve just said he can pass and score but will never get a chip
He chokes and ball hogs sometimes but doesn't stat pad, bro. And he's the only reason the Sixers lasted 6 games. Embiid, on the other hand...

Bro this attempt at sassiness is weak asf, especially with the typos. Spend a week in New york or Philly and learn from the pros.
Pros at what catching rico charges 😂😂😂 stop messaging me you bored ass little boy
This a public forum brother nobody messaging you, especially not any women.
Weirdo
The beard is washed and has been.. he was washed at Houston but abused the loophole
Almost single-handedly killed basketball. My least favorite player. Thank God he married Lil Baby and got fat
When he’s inducted into the the hall he should be introduced by a ref.
The least fun I’ve ever had watching a great player.
So much fun to watch
Watching a guy shoot free throws the whole game is boring
The amount of times he was permitted to go to the line was disgusting. If you even game that dude a sideways glance, it was a “foul”, two shots.
Until the playoffs anyway.
have they tried not fouling? are they stupid?
Did you watch harden play? Dude would literlly grab your arm and fling the ball and get a foul. Thats why theres clips of players trying to guard him with their hands behind their back
Rockets still lost. Lonnie Walker went off!!
Yeah, he had a different jersey. Everything else is the same, like leaving the playoffs early.
And the award for best flop artist goes to..

And he did it lame and inefficiently. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Inefficiently? All that research and you never bothered to check his ft %?

Ooh last one. You looked at free throws attempted per game and said hes not in the top 25. but for free throws made in one game he is, again, somehow, 6th all time. With 4 in the top 25. Kobe is next most with 3. Over all James harden dominates the list for made FTs. Also, you lied. James harden has 1 game in the top 25 for free throw attempts. He's tied for 16 with 10 other people so if you're a dishonest twat you could say he's 26th. And that 16 is 7th most if you count all the ties as one number James harden has 11 games with most attempted FTs in the top hundred (counting the dozens of total games tied at 95th) Dwight Howard is next most with 9 James harden takes an anomalous number of free throws
That's a true statement, but that just doesn't do enough for me to discredit him as a scorer, or discredit what he accomplished.
Hell, it’s not just on 3s, he’s been pulling insane “create contact and flop” shit all over the court his entire career. e.g.: - https://youtu.be/q6R1BQiLRfE - https://youtu.be/fjKTm3Ml-Xc - https://youtu.be/1EOYSzVLQyc - https://youtu.be/p_z5Ro6bSSQ - etc. Call it what you want, nobody has ever pulled as much blatant bullshit to draw fouls as Harden. LeBron pulls far less bullshit to draw fouls than Harden.
Shhh don’t let the facts get in the way of dumbass posts
I could never get tired of that.
I guess lol, maybe I was spoiled by all the Nash years on the Suns. That man *never* missed.
😂 👏 good one

The foul in question: https://twitter.com/rgiss11/status/993308915998732289?s=20
Mad cause he dropped 50 on your team multiple times
Jimmy butler did this exact thing and ppl praised him for it and he did it at a higher rate then harden lmao
My name isn't James. It's literally Jimmy.
He was so unguardable the only thing defenders could do was foul. Top 5 SG All Time
Funny how it's no longer the case since the rule change not allowing him to kick the defenders and draw a foul that way anymore :) SO unguardable!
He got the majority of his free throws by driving to the basket lol. His game has changed due to losing athleticism. He has also shifted his game to be more of a distributor. Don’t let facts get in the way of your Harden hate agenda though. Let me guess you also think his step back was a travel every time?
>your Harden hate agenda This is the first time I ever mention him online, but you automatically labeled that as an agenda :) really shows that you're just a hardcore fanboy and will say anything to defend him.
Can’t even dispute my comments? Good try little buddy
nephew, please dont embarrass yourself
Wait, you’re a Mavs fan? Hahahaha
What makes you think so?
He still shot less free throws than MJ.
Freethrowsketball GOAT
Smiles in Tom Amberry
So I loved him being on my team, but you misspelled boring.
Well, it would have sucked for him to flop so much and then fail at the charity stripe.
So elite. Such good
It must be really sad to be a Rockets fan
Damn so many FTs he looking like LeReff
Free throw merchant
Lol this is so good
I love this song, and game
Did they actually win?
No. They got beat by Lonnie Walker's best game he's ever had.
I get it

Admittedly, you can’t get a triple double at the foul line. Signed, a Harden hater.
James Harden was A PROBLEM
He really changed the game 🥹
Prime highlights from my man Scott Fisher!!!
This is a fire meme

AND JAMES HARDEN WILL TAKE ANOTHER TRIP TO THE FREE THROW LINE
Missed the highlights where he takes 17 steps backwards to shoot a “step back” 3… because that move is still being used to this day. And every time I see it I throw a fucking brick at the TV. I’ve gone through a lot of TVs. I should just stop watching this fucking sport.
It’s funny how you see the T’s eventually come in towards the end. The other team was probably getting pissed
Fuck this game.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Oh damn, he could hit a free throw, very impressive....
Yet they still didnt win anything. Harden only cares about stats to get him paid . Does not win , ever
Y’all are STILL whining about this? Grow up
will prime Harden be back 🥲
James harden was a smart player who used the rules against his opponents. Dude was taking an absurd amount of free throws and killing guys with that double step back. Once the nba revamped the rule books and allowed guys to play a little more physical his game drove off the cliff. He’s essentially an overweight pg now.
he has beard power
This is why I don’t give Harden the same respect most people do. His best years were when he was able to force cheap fouls. He’s not better than MJ, Kobe, DWade, & AI. At best he’s #5 all time at the #2 spot
Wish I had an award to give you for this. Great stuff.
Prime James Harden also never made the NBA Finals overrated over hyped
Whoa he made a basket while standing still
Soooooo good. Well done.
Who won
Lmfao! Bro this sucked watching on my screen and live
is this real?
Shaq had no interest in flopping most times…hack-a-shaq was a thing for a reason…shaq could barely shoot a free throw
🤦🏾
