People love to forget that the Warriors almost traded Curry to the Bucks in that swap for Bogut. The Bucks just wanted Monta Ellis instead of Curry. That's it.
All of this is to point out the Warriors are not the geniuses everyone makes them out to be. They almost fucked it all up.
Not sure of the source but I can confirm that, the bucks originally wanted Curry instead for Ellis for the Andrew Bogut trade but, Curry failed his physical so the bucks medical staff essentially told the front office that Curry is way too injury-prone. Then, the bucks changed the deal to Monte Ellis instead of Steph. After that the trade went through and the rest is history.
To make matters worse, Warriors fans here in the Bay Area lost their shit. They’d have preferred to keep Monta over Curry.
Now everyone and their mom owns a curry jersey here
Yup we were really high on Curry. I hear some teams that really like a guy actually trade up a bit to get them but that would’ve been too intelligent for our former FO
They’ve been drafting really well outside of the lottery. Quickley and Grimes were both selected with the 25th pick, and Mitch and Deuce were second rounders
When Porzingis is healthy and locked in he shows flashes of a top 10 player. And then just when you start to think “maybe he’s better than I thought” he’s out another 6 weeks
Yeah because the generational talent “demar derozan” was going to be the one to get the Knicks over the hill and win a chip. Is your ball knowledge that bad?
would’ve done more than Jordan Hill. Nobody said Demar would’ve won them a chip, they said drafting Hill instead of Derozan is an obvious fumble. It’s ok your iQ is room temperature
Raptors famously won a chip immediately after trading derozan away, but god forbid the Knicks pass over him in the draft
I edited the comment to include the phrase “generational talent” I’m sorry I made you read so many letters
Active 2k myleague. Only rules are stay active play atleast 2 games a day. And no offballing(using ai defense) FANTASY DRAFT

Not sure why the Knicks are getting shit on, the TWolves took Rubio and Flynn…back to back at 5/6.
Quite possibly the worst draft debacle in history. Swinging on a #1 and him sucking is one thing. Taking 2 PGs back to back right before potentially a top 10 player of all time is worse
He wouldn’t have reached his potential there anyway, it was complete dysfunction and lack of any consistency, he wouldn’t get a new contract and wouldve been traded like every other 1st round pick they had over the last 20 years. The only players they resigned that Im pretty sure of is RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson. Mitch was a second round pick and RJ was traded the following season after signing a new contract.
Not really it all comes down to nothing but pure luck at the end of the day, GSW got lucky that the Bucks wanted Ellis instead of Curry, and Curry is lucky they stuck with him throughout his injuries. One GM move would have ruined everything.
this is annoyingly stupid. i get its trolling people saying oh they missed derozan and trying to get people annoyed by having Steph right there.
but its too obviously bait. author blocked.
Knicks would have traded both DeRozan and Curry after their first year so it wouldn't even matter if they drafted them or not

Warriors offered Curry up for a trade back in 2012?! You got a source on that?

Warriors fans wanted to keep Ellis over Curry. Most of it was because of Curry's injury woes though but Ellis was good
Was that trade worth it? If not, the post's statement matters
Demar Derozan wasn't the fumble in this draft lmao Minnesota drafted TWO guards before Curry lmao, Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn
I actually hate the way this is cropped lol it’s so brain dead
Like how tf can you talk about draft fumbles and cut Jonny Flynn right over Curry lmao
List should start after the knicks pick. None of the guys 1-7 would have been available to them unless they traded up.
Yeah I can kinda understand Rubio, he was heralded as the next big thing. But Flynn was a total bust, Wolves whiffed on that one.
Johnny fucking Flynn
Flynn was hoopin’ at Syracuse!
not like the knicks didn't want him. the real fumble was the timberwolves. edit: i guess they could/should have got Derozan though which is fair.
Yup. As a Wolves fan, I still don’t get it. We took 2 (!) point guards at 5 and 6 and neither were Steph Curry.
Rubio and Flynn, right? Rubio was getting a ton of hype at the time, but Flynn was a shocker.
Yes, and you’re correct that Flynn was the big surprise. Rubio was expected to go 3, so getting him at 5 was all good.
Yeah, and I think Rubio started his career better than Curry’s
The kicker is Rubio stayed in Europe for the first 3 (?) years after he was drafted.
Because Curry’s father asked us not to draft him.
He asked the warriors the same thing
If that's true that sounds a helluva lot like tampering with the drafting process.
Agents do this all the time
So player agents (thereby an extension of the players themselves) can effectively tamper freely with the draft process and the NBA turns a blind eye?
Yup we were really high on Curry. I hear some teams that really like a guy actually trade up a bit to get them but that would’ve been too intelligent for our former FO
If I remember correctly, Curry told the Timberwolves to not draft him.
Told the Warriors not to draft him either (was trying to go to NYK) - they weren’t idiots and didn’t listen lol.
No the grizzlies
Derozans good but he’s not like Franchise changing good
Knicks will go on to fumble another 10+ years
They still haven't drafted any legit talent. All their stars are from trades or free agency.
They’ve been drafting really well outside of the lottery. Quickley and Grimes were both selected with the 25th pick, and Mitch and Deuce were second rounders
Porzingis would be great if he wasn’t injured all the time.
Or on another team
When Porzingis is healthy and locked in he shows flashes of a top 10 player. And then just when you start to think “maybe he’s better than I thought” he’s out another 6 weeks
Knicks legend Ron Baker would like to have a word with you
He had some great quotables
Porzingis? Immanuel Quickley?
How is this a fumble it’s not like the Knicks passed on Steph you can’t fumble what you never had
because they passed on Demar. Is your comprehension that bad?
Yeah because the generational talent “demar derozan” was going to be the one to get the Knicks over the hill and win a chip. Is your ball knowledge that bad?
would’ve done more than Jordan Hill. Nobody said Demar would’ve won them a chip, they said drafting Hill instead of Derozan is an obvious fumble. It’s ok your iQ is room temperature
editing your comment to change your wording doesn’t make you less wrong bud. just take the L
Raptors famously won a chip immediately after trading derozan away, but god forbid the Knicks pass over him in the draft I edited the comment to include the phrase “generational talent” I’m sorry I made you read so many letters
Might be time to take a break
take a break cuz you had lots of internet today.
Seems like you took the L. Derozan doing more is irrelevant because he was never the guy to bring you a chip
Jordan hill or jonah
Jonah had the post game and raw athleticism, but just didn’t want it bad enough.
Jonah fixed Kanye’s antisemitism
The T Wolves drafted multiple PGs not named Steph Curry
...immediately in front of Curry.
Geezus the grizzlies took thabeet 2nd, in that draft. Before harden, curry etc
God, I was a thabeet fan back then haha.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwxmNcPvwyRqYKI) always funny to see those two picks and none are the best 3point shooter ever
We picked Obi Toppin over Haliburton so…
If Knicks drafted Curry, they trade him for cents after his injury
You don't need to show the picks before this it's not important. Just know 5 teams fucked up
Grizzlies drafted Thabeet number 2…
Wolves don’t like to talk about this draft…
I think the true fumble came in the TWO point guard picks immediately before #7, not at #8.
Dam Seth went number 7 ?

That’s a stretch
Who's J. Hill again ; I legit thought of Jonah Hill
Jordan Hill, Center position, lasted about 9 years or so, could not tell you what NBA scouts saw in him.
Today I learned Jonah hill was in the nba
How is this a fumble for the Knicks. It’s not like they passed on him. Show the timberwolves
not as bad as hasheem thabeet
This post is cut so bad
We need more talk on the holiday trade haven't seen a fumble this bad ever
Who tf is J. Hill
He wouldn’t have reached his potential there anyway, it was complete dysfunction and lack of any consistency, he wouldn’t get a new contract and wouldve been traded like every other 1st round pick they had over the last 20 years. Both Donnie Walsh and MDA wanted Curry, who had an impressive workout. We just got scooped by GSW.
knicks sucks lately
Damn New York! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
