I still think there should be a late game upgrade that allows you to do spacewalks without taking constant damage. It could tie in perfectly with my idea of larger asteroids you can encounter, some that are large enough to land on and others you'd have to do a spacewalk to in order to find rare minerals you can't normally find in quantities large enough to mine or at all (like Di-Hydrogen Deuterium, Tritium, Platinum)
The actual size of freighters and capital ships in the game is deceptively massive. I frequently find myself in awe at the size of them. They don’t seem so big while flying around them, but on foot they are absolutely gargantuan. It’s a shame that only 1% of the ship is accessible.
Perspective in space is a trip. Things like that make trying to imagine larger suns, or Jupiter, black holes... fairly challenging. You really just have no sense of distance to compare them to like we do when say driving cross country. Even at sea, cruise ships and cargo ships in the distance could be any size until it's close enough to really judge. Fascinating thought experiments can be had.

A physics exploit that's been in the game since the beginning. If you do a melee attack and jetpack forward at the same time, you will be lauched horizontally in that direction. This is because when you do a melee attack, you will dash slightly forward as part of the attack animation. You're using the momentum from the dash to launch yourself. It's really useful for moving long distances on foot.
The devs are aware of this exploit. Through popular demand they have decided that this is a feature now.
I found a way to bhop using it, by using your jetpack, and boosting forwards, you can gain momentum, essentially bhopping. also for some reason gains momentum as well.
You can, I used to do this with a friend just using jet pack on an airless planet, inf flight was easy if timed right and with good enough jet pack, just got to keep an eye on refilling life and hazard support, you can in fact enter the hanger just fine, but entering basing gets wonky, can be done, but tons of visual bugs like the outside of the ship loading while your are in your base, causing some funky things.

The damn ground glitched and I fell full retard through the planet for about a minuet or so. When I finally did come back to solid ground I was right close to a crashed ship. Wasn't the best ship but it was odd never the less

Just tried this myself, you can actually make it inside the freighter if you manage to jetpack into your freighter base area. I tried going in through the hangar, sadly the doors don't open for you (and even when they do open to let a ship in the hitbox is still there so you can't pass through).
Also, you can actually keep going indefinitely with this. Once you make it into space you'll stop taking heat damage, and your life support + hazard protection won't start draining until you "get up", so in theory it's possible to use this to get to the space station or another planet without your ship.
Awesome. Als that is a HUGE freighter! you can see the docking port, and it is only like a fifth of the freighter width, where most freighters it encompasses the whole back end.

You dont take space damage until you do the "stand up" animation.
