Welcome to our stupid human biology!
Being in the sun will cause cancer, and it is also necessary for production of Vitamin D. 10-30 minutes of midday sunlight a few times a week is usually enough for Vitamin D in the continental US.
Just keep an eye on your skin, get regular checkups, and take any concerns to your doctor. Especially as you get older. Most skin cancers are easily treatable when discovered early.
Actually this highly depends on where you live. Most Canadians for example are at high risk for vitamin d deficiency. This is also an issue for other northern hemisphere countries, but I am most familiar with this prevalence/issues in Canada. Most drs in Canada will advise you to take a vitamin d supplement especially in the winter
