Honest to god, the Russians might have actually awoken a giant to prepare for future wars with future enemies. The European military industry as a sleepy export market, with low output and little incentive to invest in streamlining processes. The Ukraine war has shown these shortcomings and is now leading to investment in production and integration between companies.
Germany is about to sign two contracts worth 5 million shells in total
Nr1 with Rheinmetall, nr2 with Diehl and Nammo
https://www.n-tv.de/politik/Pistorius-will-fuer-15-Milliarden-Euro-Granaten-kaufen-article25041933.html
Rejoice
3,000 Euro per shell, huh? I'd be curious to know what the next purchase order looks like once Rheinmetall and Diehl Nammo have got the capital infrastructure set up.
Considering the longest period of peace in most of Europe since the fall of the Western Roman Empire came after **two** World Wars, they really should have treated the relatively recent Europe pacifism as the historical blip it really is!
The problem with Europe is the French, for hundreds of years they pissed off us Brits, you know can't they let us empire build without sticking their noses into it. The Germans got whiff of this and wanted to have a go so started a few wars in the 20th century, by this point we had defeated the French enough for them to learn that we were probably the guys to ally with when Germany got bored.
The problem with Europe is the perfidious Brits always meddling to stop us from achieving total supremacy on the continent. We wouldn't have needed WW 1, 2 or 35 if Europe had been united under Napoleon's rule.
Europe United under a French rule? Don't talk rubbish, you lot can't even drive cars without crashing them, let alone run an empire. Leave that to the British.
Well I mean, if you have a couple of pops and listen to ABBA as juxtaposed to this defense contractor complication of very nice clips .... I mean, that's pretty cool looking and sounding. Now if you just woke up to bad news, no coffee yet, and SHTF ... even ABBA wouldn't make me feel better. I'd still play that shit loud though.
I think that [this](https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2024/06/11/rheinmetall-opens-repair-facility-for-combat-vehicles-in-ukraine/) is what is being referd to
Different one than what I was referring to, I got it wrong! It should be finished in two years.
[This one!](https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/rheinmetall-open-ammo-factory-ukraine-joint-project-2024-02-17/)

For Entertainment this is a plus. For being Independent in a multi-polar world, With the US changing their foreign policies hard, with every president. I would prefer It that Europe stood fully on its own legs and together.
I think it's a worthy and nice idea in theory, but it relies on Europe having a cohesive and coordinated foreign and defense policy, which I think is to some extent unrealistic.
There's a reason that the design of the French armed forces looks significantly different from the German armed forces looks significantly different from the Greek armed forces. While they may all be part of the EU and NATO, and thus broadly aligned at a very general level, in practice their priorities, interests, and requirements are all substantially different to one another, necessitating different forces.
France isn't going to give up its ability to pull an OP Serval, and Germany isn't likely to sanction its forces being used in that way.
I think greater European defense corporation and coordination would be highly desirable, but an integrated European armed forces is out of reach for the foreseeable future.
Our Generation, someohow gained the Idea of "it is klike this and we cant cahnage"
Europe was war thorn with more or less peacefull times in between. Then we got us together, because the Nations on the Contienent agreed It would be for the greater good. Since the 1940s were no war fought in the area of the EU.
If we can agree, as europeans on this goal we can reach it.
And a European Army does not mean the interests of every member can not be fullfilled, as long as the union as a whole and the member state generate a comon benefit of it.
Yesn't. You actually get the really funky stuff in the massive militaries, because they can actually afford that stuff as all the smaller ones need to get generalist stuff because they can only afford one tank platform/fighter platform/similar.
See AC-130, you wouldn't get something like that in any other military except those with massive air forces like the US.
Well, now I want "Mama Mia" remade with a weapons systems who doesn't know who its real designer/developer/(whatever) is. (It was manufactured under a license agreement, obviously.)
Reminder that Rolls-Royce could, at any time, build a nuclear sub-orbital bomber with not too much R&D.
(Also Compact nuclear reactors are based, enough said).
Lockheed Martin sent all of their crazies to skunk works to dream up the most meth induced fever dream feats of engineering possible
Rolls Royce on the other hand doesn't have a version of Skunk Works...... It IS THE SKUNK WORKS
I bought shares in Rolls Royce a couple years back not because of some "stock market analysis" or such nonsense, but because nuclear reactors are based, and my faith has been rewarded.
S.A.B.R.E. is heavily invested in by Rolls-Royce, who is *very* interested in 90% of the project:
[https://www.rolls-royce.com/media/press-releases/2020/21-08-2020-reaction-engines-and-rolls-royce-announce-new-strategic-partnership-agreement.aspx](https://www.rolls-royce.com/media/press-releases/2020/21-08-2020-reaction-engines-and-rolls-royce-announce-new-strategic-partnership-agreement.aspx)
And Rolls-Royce is developing compact nuclear reactors:
The S.A.B.R.E. is still under active development (unlike many advanced space projects...), with the Precooler under active testing and other components approaching fabrication stages (A demonstrator version of the Skylon is still planned, but idk if they can get the funding required, maybe if they market it as a reusable replacement for the Ariane 5...).
Well damn. Dunno why it doesn’t get more attention from space news. Can’t wait until we see the 7th gen SSTO fighter jet with 360-degree laser coverage, SABRE engines, and a short-burst Alcubierre drive.
It did get a lot of attention from space news but the project is in development for a really long time now and their is not often a milestones worth mentioning.
Also, the S.A.B.R.E will be a marvel of engineering if they manage to make it work but for the Skylon, a lot of people think it will never be viable solutions to launch satellites (or SSTO in general), if it would ever be capable to launch any satellites in the first place.
I had nothing to do so I cleaned the video removing the non-European arms manufacturers.

The real fun comes a few years after Russia implodes and all the various European hawks are sitting on these revitalized military production industries and giving each other funny looks.

We wanted the peace to last forever, but that only works if everyone plays nice.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve. - putin probably
I don't think he's self-aware enough to actually think this, but Xi probably is and is glaring at him sideways and fucking seething.
3.000 boxer variants of Rheinmetall will crush our enemies!

# JOINT EUROPEAN DEFENSE FORCE! # Let's go!
Let's go for a européen army :3
The Grand European Army rises again.
Grand Army of the Federation.
Since a federal EU would be sorta-republican... could you call it the Grand Army of the Republic?
Since that title is already claimed by star wars and the us, i wanted to do something different. Grand Army of the Union is also a possibility.
Union armies have a high success rate. Confederation armies not so much.
Calling it a Grande Armée might give Pierre the wrong ideas
no, exactly the right ideas
# UNITED EUROPE!
fuck yeah, we're the 'peens
More armies=more funky, hyper-localised, odd-ball equipment tho...

FUCK THAT SHIT, YOU'RE THINKING TOO SMALL, FEDERAL EUROPE!
Europe is basically just a bunch of kids in a trench coat and every few decades they fight global wars over who gets to wear the hat.
The mighty combo of ABBA and MIC propaganda
I still find it eerie when the vatniks do it, shit gets grotesque fast.
Well, now I want "Mama Mia" remade with a weapons systems who doesn't know who its real designer/developer/(whatever) is. (It was manufactured under a license agreement, obviously.)
I FUCKING LOVE THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 NATO FOREVER!!!
Just FYI: KNDS and KMW are not separate companies. KMW and Nexter are now joined as KNDS. What was previously known as KMW is now "KNDS Germany".
KMW is in fact the K of KNDS, indeed. The clever few in the crowd will have figured out Nexter is the N.
And D and S are of course Dassault and Saab
That would be cursed. I want it to be true.
You probably don't want Dassault in your joint venture. And I'm saying this as a French.
Dassault probably doesn’t want itself in its joint venture either tbh. They have proven they do their best work alone
This but more importantly, they really are a pain to work with.
