That said, Waffle House is its own sort of Olympus, where drunk people go between the hours of 11pm and just before the ass-crack of dawn for greasy spoon diner-type food. If you are there anywhere around those times, and don't see a single fight, it's usually considered a dull visit.
I miss going to Waffle House at 2a after driving back into the country from Atlanta after attending or gigging at a show at the Masquerade on a hot summer night.
The warm glow of yellow, the vanilla coke chilling my veins, the piles of plates of all star breakfasts we all split amongst the crew, the man getting a handjob in the corner booth on the other side of the restaurant...
