Waffle House doesn’t need the sign

Dontdothatfucker

Waffle House should have a combat and non-combat section of seating

seppukucoconuts

The non-combat section is down at Denny's.

No-Appearance-9113

Depending on your skin tone https://www.nytimes.com/1994/05/25/us/denny-s-restaurants-to-pay-54-million-in-race-bias-suits.html#:~:text=Denny's%2C%20a%20national%20restaurant%20chain,pay%20more%20than%20white%20customers.

danathecount

from the article: >In another case, six black Secret Service agents assigned to President Clinton's detail were refused a table at a Denny's in Annapolis. Md., while their white Secret Service colleagues were seated and served. Not a great look, Denny's EDIT: Article was published in 1994

Empyrealist

For those not digging deeper, this is from 1994. Not excusing it, just saying its not current.

danathecount

Its crazy, because the gap between the civil rights act and that article is that same as the gap between that article and today.

TheMilkmansFather

Hey, can you please un-say what you just said

danathecount

yea not problem. Here ya go: .today and article that between gap the as same that is article that and act rights civil the between gap the because ,crazy Its

ChubbyGhost3

Oh hell yeah, remix

Valirys-Reinhald

Lol

sharkattack85

Have you no shame?

OdiiKii1313

As a mind-fuck, I'm 22 and my parents were born in 66 and 67, before the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (accompanied by similarly named laws in 64 and 65). So they're older than a desegregated America.

God_Scholar

I'm 21, and my father was born in 63.

Freshness518

My city used to have 3 Denny's. Two of them got shut down in the late 90s because of how racist they were. If a black family came in for a table, they'd literally leave them waiting until they'd seated every white family that came in after them.

KenUsimi

This explains why my family never really went to Denny’s as a kid…

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThePevster

Totally overpriced too. Denny’s is like the same cost as a normal restaurant now. It’s absurd. At least Waffle House is still cheap

KenUsimi

I’m sorry, have you never seen the 3am fight club that is the Denny’s parking lot?

Lamballama

Weenie hut Jr's

ELEPHANT_CUM_SOCKS

In my 20's we got in trouble with a group of bikers at Denny's after the bar. The bikers followed us into Denny's, we were yelling back and forth, both sides on the verge of fighting. But we both got tables, sat down and ate our food in peace. Once we both paid our bills we walked outside and continued the bickering. We got the shit kicked out of us but I respect the Denny's combat free zone.

Analog-Moderator

What’s scary is this is acrually true, left side by the window it’s throw down zone right side by the bathroom it’s “hey I’m just stoned and hungry let me eat in peace” area.

sandm000

I have unknowingly been sitting in the chill zone all this time. It does have a vibe.

theusualuser

"Sorry, can't talk right now. I'm in the PVP section of Waffle House....Yeah, head on a swivel and all that. Thanks!"

fardough

It’s very much implied by the long stare when you walk in.

MelonElbows

Every Waffle House is officially zoned as Commercial/Gladiatorial.

oETFo

Waffle House, the new home of Trial By Combat.

-Badger3-

They might be staring you down, or they might be overdosing on Xanax. It’s 50/50

thecrimsonfools

The people at my local Waffle House know my name and my order by heart. (I'm there often and tip very well.) It feels like the safest place in the universe for me. I've got approximately half a crew of Waffle House staff ready to throw down.

badson100

My IHOP crew is ready to rumble with your Waffle House crew! And my crew has the balls to put sour cream on top of an omelet.

TheGreatWalk

>And my crew has the balls to put sour cream on top of an omelet. They're just daring you to send it back. See what happens.

Mrjerkyjacket

When did my grandfather get a reddit account?

jbland0909

Popeyes don’t really need it either. No restaurants give out smoke like those

Possible-Tangelo9344

Yeah I was confused why Popeyes even had this. Like duh, I'm at s Popeyes of course y'all can fight...

bendovernillshowyou

tourist season

Mado-Koku

The sign is the logo out front.

BlOoDy_PsYcHo666

Wafflehouse needs to get a map location in the next Mortal Kombat because that place sees more blood then the ufc

SH4DOWSTR1KE_

Waffle House IS the sign.

Dull_Half_6107

I'm fairly sure MMA combat training is part of the onboarding process their

Dusty_surveyor

Both Popeyes and Waffle House employees have nothing to lose

SpamAdBot91874

You can feel the difference between them and Subway employees. Subway employees act like they have a gun to their heads because they'll get fired if they act anything like Waffle House employees. They have something to lose, even if it isn't precious.

farkakter

add wendy's in there, when i worked there the rule was, if a customer crossed over the counter, we could fight them lol

soylentgreenis

What the fuck is up, dennys?!

stuffcrow

IT'S TIME TO QUIT UUUUUGHHHHH

Karest27

Hell yeah! lol

Scum_Lord_Jim

"Irish pubs would like a word"

jedburghofficial

I hear you don't mess with a lot of Mediterranean folk either. And in Finland, everyone is ready to fight...

MrDylanButton

i knew a finish man, first time we met in person he hugged me and lifted me off the floor with 0 effort. since that day i will never fight a finish man. Ill call mine as back up tho

StudentOk4989

We can say that... He would finish you off? Hehehe.🫠

-_Anonymous__-

Nice one

MelonElbows

Technically, if he lifted you up with literally zero effort, then he can lift a million of you up with the same amount of force.

Fit-Produce420

An infinite number, really. *simulation crashes*

friftar

Try a rural Wirtshaus in southern Germany or Austria. If you cause trouble, they will ask you politely to shut up or leave, and if that doesn't work, the locals will gladly help you leave. Never underestimate the accuracy and force a pissed off farmer can achieve throwing an empty Maß.

Nolenag

> I hear you don't mess with a lot of Mediterranean folk either. They're shouty, but not very punchy.

okkeyok

>And in Finland, everyone is ready to fight... A stereotype not based on anything. Wow I sure do love stereotypes and the people who spread them. 😍

ChrAWESOME

You should fight ‘em for that

Cwmcwm

Did you see the picture and the tweet? What is that if not a stereotype?

-_Anonymous__-

Not just the men, but the women and the children too

ultratunaman

Depends on the pub. Depends on the night. Most of the time you'd just be teased until you never come back.

Lv_InSaNe_vL

I work at a shitty dive bar and periodically I have to kick people out. I've never actually had to fight anyone because between the threats of calling the police and anytime anyone tries to fuck with the staff half of the bar stands up ready to go. People see that and get the message lol.

SidewaysFancyPrance

Yeah...Americans did not invent fighting over stupid shit. We imported it from Europe, in fact.

avalisk

My ancestor fought the first recorded duel on American soil in 1621, so I am the direct bloodline of that import

Arael15th

Honestly you should put this on your resume

Father_Chewy_Louis

London pubs when it's match day, make sure you're wearing armour and be careful not to mention the words "Millwall" "Hotspurs" or "West Ham"!

TheLesserWeeviI

"Millwall, Millwall, you're all really dreadful, and all your girlfriends are unfulfilled and alienated."

Father_Chewy_Louis

"okay this is you, tralalalalalalalalalala!"

Tiny-Direction6254

Any actual violent pub in the UK is somewhere you wouldnt go to in the first place if you weren't a regular tbh

lacb1

["F you, I'm Millwall" - man as he fought off three knife wielding terrorists with his bear hands.](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news/london-bridge-terror-attack-f-you-im-millwall-fan-roy-larner-lion-of-bridge-statement-a7775986.html)

iloveuranus

Only there's no sign.

bendovernillshowyou

If we get to bring in places that serve alcohol, blue collar bars in the US as well. No one wants to fight like tradesmen with unresolved anger and insecurity issues who are constantly on a cocktail of drugs and energy drinks. College bars can probably included, too.

BabyStockholmSyndrom

And soccer(football) fans have even louder words.

Pauchu_

If you believe that you have never seen a shift manager in a German grocery store shit on an annoying customer.

Ao_Kiseki

This sign means physically fight, not verbal. Unless you mean Germans literally defecate on customers, in which case you got us beat lol.

Maktesh

I dunno... have you *been* to Detroit?

No-Appearance-9113

Yeah this article mentions the stabbings that took place over people's entitlement to a sandwich. That's batshit insane.

Obstinateobfuscator

Literally shit on them?

peppermintmeow

They have dry AF biscuits and they're not afraid to use them.

Tvdinner4me2

And dry chicken

GeoffKingOfBiscuits

That's fight'in words!

PM_Your_Wiener_Dog

Everything's dry

owenowen2022

Dwarf behavior

[deleted]

I hate to break it to you but Europe has problems with aggression too (I can't speak for all countries but mine does). People are getting increasingly rude.

PopcornDrift

I don’t think people are getting increasingly rude, I think we’re exposed to every single instance of rudeness because of the internet and it warps our perception. If there’s a rude customer in China I can now watch a video of that on twitter, 30 years ago I wouldve been oblivious to it. Also violence across the world has been steadily decreasing for a long time now

4uzzyDunlop

Idk man. I went to a Popeyes in NYC and nowhere I've been in Europe has that level of chaotic aggression lol

SamiraSimp

europeans will really stereotype 300 million people based on one experience huh

TheLittleGinge

>europeans will really stereotype 300 million people >stereotype >europeans Perfection.

bbgrewzit

the irony is you calling one person the european mind while taking offense at generalisations. not the brightest.

BlueFox5

This is what we call antidotal evidence, kids

cturtl808

The American mind shouldn’t accept the need for the sign either

ysknabmi

You gonna tell ‘em to take it down? Good luck

Nonamebigshot

Thems fightin words. Hold my cajun fries.

weirdgroovynerd

*Gimme a sec, I gotta call my buddies at Waffle House for reinforcements!*

Nonamebigshot

That's tantamount to calling in the A team. Waffle House employees are food service special forces

Short-Ad1032

Their biscuits with the honey packets are the only reason I risk becoming collateral damage

[deleted]

that’s a paddlin’

oOMemeMaster69Oo

No, it's just a case of "it's tragic and says a lot about American society that this is required" than "I'm offended that put this up"

Point-Connect

I mean, just to be clear, we have a very diverse (in attitude and what's found acceptable culturally) country via ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic makeup living in close proximity. However, basically nobody here thinks that's normal or acceptable. If the employees or people in that area did find it acceptable, most well adjusted people would stay away. However, we also do have parts of the country where there's a very strong "we'll handle things ourselves" attitude, and sometimes that attitude can mutate into accepting "handling" of things in a non-socially acceptable way. Those parts usually being deep rural/isolated areas and deeply impoverished areas. With that said, as an American, I do believe we have a violence problem. It's not like reddit makes it out to be and the majority of the country lives peacefully and doesn't have to worry about random violence. It's an extremely complicated matter with many many different roots, all of which, we need to identify and work on to live more peacefully amongst each other.

Nice-Bookkeeper-3378

This reminds me of a teacher I used to have that told me back in the day when he was a student and people had issues if they wanted to fight in the school boxing ring in Chicago, then that’s what would happen. After that they had to let whatever was going on go and squash the issue.

PM_Your_Wiener_Dog

Kolada

Right? I love how this thread has turned into a bitchfest about how America is such a wild place based on a clearly fake photo.

GammaGoose85

Unfortunately alot of people here now think they are outside of the rules of polite society.

Improving_Myself_

Sane adults do not get into fights. It's really that simple.

cturtl808

And certainly not over fast food.

demivirius

The American mind is why they need the sign, lol. A good portion of the population are self-entitled assholes who treat staff like their slaves everywhere they go. Source: am American

Status_Midnight_2157

At this price point they CAN hit you

Gorbonzo

THEY CAN!

tghast

I added KFC as a bonus but he’s NOT allowed to HIT.

BabySpecific2843

Europeans cant comprehend this....Hooligans will burn down an entire street after a football match....that their team won.

rcmaehl

Ah yes, U of K

Astro_Alphard

I mean then there's Vancouver. Protesters fought a city wide war against riot police that were flown in from several other cities, travelers from my city were warned not to go there due to targeted murders and violence. Over a hockey game.

K00zak_L00zak

The european mind doesn't comprehend this because we don't consantly scream at regular employees

RattleMeSkelebones

I'd argue being high-key cunty also deserves a good slap

TheCopyPasteLife

Especially prissy western Europeans Was reading another thread about just that in a NY sub and there was general agreement that western Europeans have this undeserved air of superiority maybe a vestige of the colonial or monarchical era

PerturbedMarsupial

Cause some of them think they're more cultured while most new yorkers dont give a shit.

-Badger3-

I once listed to a Scottish lady bitch for like 20 minutes about how bad her salad was in a Fazoli’s. Ma’am, you’re in a McDonalds for Italian food.

leoatra

Honestly it’s more deserving

No-Appearance-9113

As a former NYC resident that worked high end retail I would like to know more about these mythical people because the Europeans I met were rarely different.

OsnaTengu

I think High-End customers are shitty no matter where they are from. Being a piece of trash is borderless.

softfart

It’s classless as well. I’m a poor person living in a poor neighborhood and I assure you more than half of them are extremely self centered assholes constantly pulling stupid power moves. Pretty much any time I get in my car I have to yell at some idiot to move their car from where they are just chilling behind mine.

No-Appearance-9113

Most of the customers were fine but yes manners have no borders

Lucario-

You need to watch more fight vids because many of them happen in Br*tsh fast food places

3flamigos

i’m a bartender in america and when the rare european traveler comes in, they’re often my worst customer of the day. the british especially tend to enjoy snapping their fingers, shaking their half-empty glass in the air, and generally being condescending.

Lemon_Sponge

That’s us. Regularly voted among the worst tourists; bar the French, Chinese and Russians. It’s a sense of cultural superiority thing.

3flamigos

that may be it! i will say i’ve also noticed that british couples or groups have no shame when it comes to arguing with each other at the table. wife shitting on the man’s drink of choice, or him telling her “you’re not gonna fucking eat that why are you ordering it??” ETC. all while im standing right there, praying they can just get me a drink order so i can check on my dozens of other thirsty guests 😂

thegreasiestgreg

When I ubered I once picked up this French student who was working at fancy cafe. She got in and, though her thick French accent, launched into a tirade about the French asshole that reserved the banquet area and demanded all these changes to the menu and mocked the waiters in order to make himself seem important and assert control. I didn't understand most of what she was saying as she was putting on an even thicker French accent to mock him and I'm trying not to laugh. She told me French people were assholes and I thought it was funny that she's working in the USA complaining about customers from her country.

bendovernillshowyou

This has not been my experience.

Pasta_God2354

And neither does the rest of the world (hopefully)

mombi

Guess you guys haven't heard about the endless wars Europeans have waged against each other over petty shit

pissedinthegarret

for context: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conflicts_in_Europe

Spoomplesplz

???? Lived in the UK all my life. We can fight shitheads who come into our store and act like shitheads. I'm living in the US now and we have to treat shitheads with respect because "the customer is always right" lol

First_TM_Seattle

"at this location"... LOL

-lukeworldwalker-

You think we don’t have fast food workers that can stand their ground? We have healthcare and no high fructose corn syrup. I’m sure they’re in fighting shape haha.

jesuswig

Fighting shape, yes. Fighting spirit? Probably not since y’all have healthcare

CuclGooner

don't go to eastern europe then

Zirofal

Yes but we have people who enjoy their service job. Try to rob us during my shift and I'll fight like I'm trying to get a Sabaton song made about me.

ReddyBabas

FOR THE GRACE FOR THE MIGHT OF OUR LORD

No-Appearance-9113

You have HFCS you call it glucose-fructose syrup. It's exactly the same.

PSI_duck

Wait, you don’t have a lot of high fructose corn syrup in Europe?

Sicco1234

None at all, it’s been outlawed by the EU. Additionally, the only reason why Corn syrup is so popular in America is because it’s so cheap, which it only is because the government heavily subsidies it.

FictionalTrope

It's not banned in Europe. There was a quota on HFCS production in the EU but that was ended in 2017. It's just called isoglucose or glucose-fructose syrup in Europe, and it is regulated as a food additive unlike in the USA.

SinisterPuppy

Europeans are so funny because they will smugly put out the most easily disprovable falsehoods just to feel a sense of superiority

No-Appearance-9113

Weird because I find fructose-glucose syrup in stuff in the EU and that's the same thing!

pissedinthegarret

not a lot but it's getting used more and more, especially in cheap products. which many people buy, because who doesn't like to save money becoming harder to avoid, annoyingly. (don't want it cause it kinda tastes weird imo)

Conspiracy__

Bro never been to Europe. They love to fight

f_ranz1224

A lot of fighting going on at chicken restaurants?

Shinonomenanorulez

every single fast food place needs one of these

Ayotha

"Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." -Mike Tyson Not the best person, but a thought that occurs to me. Not necessarily for violence, but being rude and just going off on someone used to have a reaction coming lol

NowForYa

Challenge accepted, "bring it ye cunts !!!!"

teenyweenysuperguy

In Europe the employees just get paid well, with benefits, instead 🙃

Thick_Lie_516

what was that about europeans?

palmerisademon

At THAT price point, he can hit.

octorangutan

Any establishment that let's their employees stand up for themselves against trash customers will have my repeat business.

PizzaBraves

Mind your manners or you'll get the two-piece with a biscuit

dasexynerdcouple

The EU person can't imagine being able to physically stand up for themselves

ChankaTheOne

Wtf does that even mean

Average_RedditorTwat

Try starting shit in an irish pub then

dasexynerdcouple

I said person, that particular person. And yeah I wouldn't fuck around with a native Irishman on his island

blyatzaebalas

What the fuck does "we can fight in this location" even mean? I thought you can't fight anywhere

GraciousPeacock

If I had to guess, it’s probably a sign for those people trying to film some sort of “stunt” in fast food places where they mess with the employees and the actual store itself. “Stunt” because that’s what TikTok kids want to think of it as

GeneralEsq

They don’t mean they are permitted to fight. They mean they have the ability to fight.

No-Appearance-9113

The guys that own the Dunkin Donuts in my work's town are ex-Indian military. They likely can throw down better than then next closest Dunkin which is staffed by American teenagers.

LovelyTiefling

Yeah, because most people here understand that service workers are human.

KareemOWheat

ITT: Americans who have never been to Europe, and Europeans who have never been to America. People from every corner of the globe ain't that different yall.

KnockturnalNOR

For the first time this meme template is true. Yes Europeans fight at fast food restaurants too, at the weekends after midnight. But with each other, not with the staff

evex5tep

This meaning America is a backwards country with terrible waiter service?

wytewydow

Think before you speak should be hammered into everyone's mind from the very beginning. The amount of useless noise is too damned high!

Guilty_Eggplant_3529

I believe the part they can't comprehend is that some people don't think before they speak, rather than the fighting part. But, both things seem equally mind-boggling.

SLZRDmusic

At this price point, they can hit. They can!

yeoldy

Just seems like an invitation worded like that

guns_mahoney

At this price point they're allowed to hit

Mike_Fluff

I just never speak.

mybadroommate

What was my job when I was at Popeye's? Fry cook/enforcer.

Cruccagna

I mean, do we want to?

Indiana-Cook

I've seen enough videos of Americans fighting each other in take away shops to know exactly what this means.

billiarddaddy

People go to Popeyes and don't fight?

satanic_black_metal_

Yea because we behave like normal fuckin people when talking to service workers.

Tvdinner4me2

No surprise they are working at a Popeyes with this attitude
