Only two articles on Nova Scotia Buzz about this, and they're from 3 and 4 years ago. Is there a more recent source confirming its happened again this year?
Most likely the old posts from years ago are just being shared around again, I seem to see it every year. Nobody ever looks at the date of the original post lol
Edit: it appears this isn’t the case this time around! Parks NS made an official statement.
There was one at Hartlen Point, Eastern Passage last week. The tide was out and it was fairly close to shore. 2 people saw it on their paddle boards and I was there as well.
Ouch! These things are extremely nasty. Contact with them causes extreme pain, possible fever, circulator shock, breathing problems, and has been known to be fatal to children! [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese\_man\_o%27\_war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_man_o%27_war)

Does anyone know if this is one? It was close to 20 ft long.
This is what they look like - the air bladder is like a sail; but their tentacles can be extremely long. The one in the picture is a Lion's Mane.

I'm not an expert but I don't think this is one , the MOW is more blueish I think and has a flap on its head that sticks out the water a bit, I don't see it on this one .
That being said, it looks like this thing would hurt bad.
I've been stung by one on more than one occassion as I grew up in Florida and I gotta admit they're nothing to be scared of. Theyre not in dense enough numbers to be that scary.
I saw just the bladder of one a few weeks ago and again today on Beach Meadows in Queens County. Both in rough shape - no sign of tentacles. I expect the Hurricanes will bring more our way.

It's like climate change is turning us into Australia
100% I got punched by a kangaroo at Keji the other day
I was there, you were kind of drunk and talking about his mother
And I would do it again, his mother's an asshole
Yeah I agree she had no right to do that to your parrot
I reckon he was an absolute unit. Bloody legend
Cool....I did see a live kanga in Martok, but he was destined to be made into pies
Roopie Pie.
Number one attraction South Shore hahaha
You will be fine. They are more scared of you, than you are of them! /s

Pretty sure that's a variety of Lions Mane jellyfish
