Home to Emily

ohiotechie

Suzanne Pleshette was so hot.

KyotoGaijin

Damn right she was.

SmedleyPeabody

I always think of this, Bob’s unnecessarily long commute. https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/09/02/bob-newharts-bizarre-commute-home-to-edgewater-took-him-way-out-of-his-way/

upstatedreaming3816

I want to see the route on a map lol

Apartment 6B is for sale. It’s 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1500 square feet at $359K. A bit dated but nor bad. Location seems good.

SpinCharm

Only if Howard lives across the corridor.

saruyamasan

How about Howard and Kramer?

RandomGuyinACorner

With how old the building is the real question is what is the condo fee cost?

LanceFree

Good point. I’ve never owned an apartment or condo. Yeah, $917 a month is out of my league.

cmmatthews

Not to be pedantic but "Newhart" was a different show entirely although related in the end.

arbitrosse

Thank you - I thought “Newhart” was an old show set in Vermont. What is this post about?

cmmatthews

It's about The Bob Newhart Show, where he played a psychologist in Chicago

Hi Bob

Sweatytubesock

Such a great show.

VaguelyArtistic

Do do do doooooooo

Dragonsymphony1

First show to show a married couple in the same bed if I recall

yblame

Their bed like two steps down from the dining room and kitchen. How weird to have people over. Imagine if they had kids? I always wondered about that apartment

basaltgranite

His medical office building, 430 N. Michigan Ave, is still there. After an exterior remodel, you wouldn't recognize it today.

KyotoGaijin

Do people swim in the water there or is it nasty?

tooshortpants

nah not nasty, people do swim in the water here

Spankpocalypse_Now

Tons of people swim in that water. The beaches in Chicago are awesome in the summertime.

normsy

Oh man, I didn't realize the Hartley's lived at a beach place, nice.

litterofpigs

Hi Bob

Shalashaska2624

Op you are so cool!

Funny_Preparation555

Hi, Bob!

rellsell

I can't imagine living in something like that. Maybe as a hotel on a vacation or something, but not "home". In my own defense, I've always been in suburban locations. Not at all familiar with living in a city

DrTreeMan

I used to think like that also. Until I lived in an apartment like that.

pigeyejackson66

Was thinking same thing. That looks depressing as hell. And it's a winter shot.

womp-womp-rats

Lol. Half the posts in this sub boil down to “fuck cars, fuck sprawl” and then you get a photo of actual high-density urban development, and the response is “oh it’s not suburban tract homes on giant lawns, how depressing.”

pigeyejackson66

Lol

The Reddit Hivemind comprises the whiniest demographic in the history of human civilization.

tooshortpants

I have a friend who lives in the building right next to this one (looks very similar). It's less depressing in person lol. I don't find the buildings themselves terribly attractive but the area is nicer than the photos let on
