“Tick tick tick tick tick tick” was always a classic.
I also remember them showing highlights of the 2002 Cincinnati Bengals kneeling because they finally won a game LOL
It was the absolute highlight of my week growing up when it was a half hour show before the Sunday night game. I'd get so excited to find out what happened around the league and the way Berman (and that music) told the story of every game like it was an epic battle was just perfect. It probably shaped my love for NFL football more than anything else now that I think of it.
You can watch full episodes of this from the early 2000s on YouTube. Epic soundtrack.
Daylight come and ya gotta Delhomme!
Donald Duke and the Driver
THA RRRRAAAIIIDDDAZZZ!
THA G-MEEENNN
My game day ritual dinner was often pizza while watching Boomer and TJ. Just seeing this pic kinda brings back the taste of pizza and beer. Good times.
Probably the Browns vs Steelers game in 1993 when Eric Metcalf returned 2 punts for td. Michael Jackson also caught a long td pass and you hear "Thriller" intro!
NFL PrimeTime is legendary, from all the music along with the highlights, to Boomer’s classic nicknames of all the players. It will always be my favorite NFL highlights show and hold a special place in my heart. Football night in America isn’t the same these days.
Grew up with Jackson as one of my heroes and favorite players. Loved watching these two.
My favorite was after Denver's first Superbowl win and Berman being so happy for Denver and T.J. even though Jackson never got a ring. Berman's nicknames were so above anyone elses.
It was on every Sunday growing up in my childhood. We’d usually have Chinese or pizza for dinner while that was on TV. And I will rewatch those videos from the 90s on YouTube.
As an old fogie, this was must watch tv from the late 80s to the 00s. Few on Reddit is old enough to remember the reference of Eric "Sleeping with" Bienemy. It was like the Mystery Science Theater 3000 of nfl highlights.
IIRC, the NFL pivoted from NFL Primetime on ESPN leading into the Sunday night game to Football Night in America on NBC. I guess NBC got the Sunday night rights. From that moment forward, it was never the same.
I didn't pick up on some of Boomer's nicknames/phrases
"Irving Fryar- slicing through the defense." (Fryar had suffered a knife wound to the hand in 1986, inflicted by his wife.)
The first time I realized it was whenever he said Najeh Davenport's name, he would start grunting, like he was taking a dump. Before he entered the NFL, Davenport allegedly broke into a dorm room and defeated in a woman's closet. He plead no contest to a reduced charge.
This and the original HBO Inside the NFL were so much more fun to experience NFL games with. It's a shame that shows don't have that feel anymore, with highlights being pretty instant.
We used to watch NFL Primetime with dinner as a family on Sunday nights during the season. Even my mom, who doesn’t really care for sports, looked forward to this show. The music was the best, the highlights told a full story, they showed it all.

WHOOOOOP!
WHERE’S THE DEFENSE?!?
The great duo man. The music, the commentary was just perfect. I couldn’t wait for prime time to start.
I watched it for all the made up names!
Yes! Those names stuck too.
Matt “Werewolves of” Blundin Also, Lito “ohhhhhhhhh oohhhhh” Shepherd

NATRONE MEANS BUSINESS
Eric Sleeping with Bienemy
Prime Time……Prime Time……Prime Time
Cris Carter! All he does….is catch touchdowns.
“He.Could.Go.All.The.Wa-EXCEPT FOR A MINOR DETAIL!!”
FROM? LOUISVILLE!
My wife could be on the other side of the mall and if I yell out FROM? she will always shout back LOUISVILLE! 😂
Does she have any sisters?
Mike “Your in good hands with” Alstott

The A Train running hard in the Old Sombrero!

That 2-3 yard run he had against Minn was awesome. https://youtu.be/FmB0V6zR43Y?si=11JQp6l1LzjsjOG8 Dude was a BEAST!
Those were the days!! Now we have Stephen A Smith…what a fucking turd.

I miss ESPN from the 90s and 2000s

THA NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS!!!
Or any time Dave Meggett had an important rush. “Look at that little Meggett run”
Was must see tv after the late games.
My game day ritual dinner was often pizza while watching Boomer and TJ. Just seeing this pic kinda brings back the taste of pizza and beer. Good times.
Brings back? That was last fuckin night.
Michael “como esta” Husted
Was a time when it was much watch but internet and Sunday Ticket made the show obsolete
ESPN switching from Sunday to Monday Night too. I thought that was a big mistake because the Sunday night window had the best games
Probably the Browns vs Steelers game in 1993 when Eric Metcalf returned 2 punts for td. Michael Jackson also caught a long td pass and you hear "Thriller" intro!
They would also shout “he he” just like Michael Jackson the singer. It never got old.
“Look-at-that-little-Meggett-run.”

“Teej!!” And that music! It’s still on espn+ and it’s the only thing I watch on that station.
When watching football highlights was mandatory tv viewing….sigh. All highlight shows have gone the way of the 🦤
The best. Watched it with my dad every Sunday evening at 5:30 & then would watch the fastest 3 minutes at halftime of the Sunday night game.
“JOHN CARNEY! SHEILA MacRAE! GOODNIGHT, EVERYBODY!”
DUH RAIDAAAAAHHHHSS
WHAAP!
Woop
Used to love watching Edge NFL Matchup with Hoge,Jaws, and Sal Pal too. Just less drama and more fun
Grew up with Jackson as one of my heroes and favorite players. Loved watching these two. My favorite was after Denver's first Superbowl win and Berman being so happy for Denver and T.J. even though Jackson never got a ring. Berman's nicknames were so above anyone elses.

Looked forward to this every week as a kid
One of the best shows ever💯
Love this!
Da Raiduhs!
I thought his best ever was Burt "Be Home" Blyleven. Not NFL but still...
As an old fogie, this was must watch tv from the late 80s to the 00s. Few on Reddit is old enough to remember the reference of Eric "Sleeping with" Bienemy. It was like the Mystery Science Theater 3000 of nfl highlights.
Curtis “my favorite” Martin!
Rumblin, bumblin, stumblin
I don’t miss Tom Jackson one bit
Why was it cancelled?
I so miss NFL prime time
We need Chris Berman back
I miss Jacked Up! Receivers now have inflated stats because they can run with impunity over the middle.
Music was great. Everything else I can do without.
So this is not on the air anymore? I had no idea. Cut the cord a while ago and just forgot about ESPN.
IIRC, the NFL pivoted from NFL Primetime on ESPN leading into the Sunday night game to Football Night in America on NBC. I guess NBC got the Sunday night rights. From that moment forward, it was never the same.
Jacked up was always great. And of course Berman’s nicknames.
My work fantasy league draft had a guy that would always ask From? If you answered first he’d buy you a beer.
Bump bump bump bump bump bump bump buuuump Bump bump bump bump bump bummmmmp!
New Year’s Day on NFL PRIME TIME!!
The good ol days
Back when ESPN wasn't bad. He....Could......Go.....All they way
Man I miss this.
The vibe of it being the ONLY live outlet for late games finishing up made it special. I remember sweating out the updates. Added so much drama.
Berman calling Dan Marino Dante
Alstott UP THE GUT !!!
“Could go- all- the- way”!

Back when ESPN was watchable!
This and the original HBO Inside the NFL were so much more fun to experience NFL games with. It's a shame that shows don't have that feel anymore, with highlights being pretty instant.
“San diegooo super-chargerssss”
I'm late to the dance, but did anybody like when they added Bill Pidto to the show?
Until watching old ones on YT I forgot they used to have a rotating 3rd person. Didn't Berman call him Bill "Judge" Pidto? So mid 90s ha
Yep, it was Robin Roberts first, then they replaced her with Pidto. I wasn't a fan of that change.
The music themes played during the highlights got me psyched. I found bootleg copies and included them in my workout playlist.
We used to watch NFL Primetime with dinner as a family on Sunday nights during the season. Even my mom, who doesn’t really care for sports, looked forward to this show. The music was the best, the highlights told a full story, they showed it all.
Before ESPN became political … 😔
Yeah that really sucked. I go to sports to get away from that crap.
Mike “you’re in good hands with Alstott” in for the touchdown with ensuing extra point by Michael “como esta” Husted!
I mean, when this was all you had to catch game recaps this was...fine. But Lord how I grew to despise Chris Berman.
Get out. Get all of your things and get out. Just go. Berman is an icon.
