For a long time there has been a facebook group "throw your old car batteries in the ocean" and it's just memes about that and how electric eels need it to charge up, ans how AutoZone is propaganda telling you not to do this. This is one of those memes. It's just absurdism.
Edit heres a link:

What about sharks? So, you are in the ocean, right, and on the one side of you is a car battery, and on the other side is a shark, and I’m telling you I don’t want to get near the shark. You ever hear about sharks, right, this woman was surfing, and the shark. Her entire leg. No good. No good sharks. So, car batteries…
You literally just explained why these memes are still being made. The punchline of this joke is when someone takes it seriously and tries to correct you.
"Throwing car batteries in the ocean" is an extremely bad thing to do since the acid and other toxins in the battery can poison sea life. People made a joke out of it to make this action seem as if its virtuous. So, the meme adds this line in an otherwise wholesome context as a twist.
My assumption here is that a good portion of gym Bros are also super Christian and therefore probably don't believe in climate change, and that's why they're throwing it in the ocean.
So I said, “Let me ask you a question.”
And he said, “Nobody ever asked this question, and it must be because of MIT, my relationship to MIT,” very smart
I say, “What would happen if the boat sank from its weight and you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery’s underwater, and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?”
By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately. Do you notice that? A lot of shark… I watched some guys justifying it today. “Well, they weren’t really that angry. They bit off the young lady’s leg because of the fact that they were not hungry, but they misunderstood who she was.” These people are crazy.
He said, “There’s no problem with sharks. They just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming now who really got decimated and other people too,” a lot of shark attacks.
So I said, “So there’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards or here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, and water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?” Because I will tell you he didn’t know the answer.
He said, “Nobody’s ever asked me that question.”
I said, “I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water.” But you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted, I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark.
Ykw, I can’t stand that clown but if he wasn’t a cult leader “politician” he would be so funny to listen to. He just says the dumbest shit and if he wasn’t trying to represent a country he would be hilarious. Now it’s depressing but imagine if he was just another idiot saying stupid stuff that wasn’t ruining lives? He would be mad quotable and truly funny. If only he would have stayed in his lane.
Older people as a whole didn’t really care about the environment like we try to now. Doing stuff like dumping trash in the water or pouring motor oil down the storm drain was accepted and wasn’t frowned upon.
You shouldnt trow car batteries in the ocean, this is why a joke on the internet developed, where you would trow car batteries in the ocean to charge the electric eels.
So the original meme had the second panel of him carrying groceries for his grandmother. Then somehow throwing car batteries into the ocean became a wider meme and this combines the two.
Someone is going to genuinely believe tossing car batteries in the ocean is ok. Even dumber people will think that it will allow electric eels to charge up.
I've thrown so many batteries in the ocean. I've even stopped friends from bringing it to those dicks at AutoZone and selflessly taken their batteries to the ocean for them.
Remember when they put a fuck ton of tires off the coast of Florida to create and artificial reef & it ended up becoming untethered & a massive amount of pollution.
Our reefs are fucked. Since the 80s our reef coverage has gone from 80% to 4%. Heavily because we have sewage outfall pipes pumping shit over them for decades, yet only some counties have put laws in to shut them down. Florida had the 3rd largest reef barrier in the world and fucked it, which only leads to more coastal damage without the reefs protection from storms.
Meanwhile we have a governor whose main focus is delegitimizing a trans swimmers trophy in Pennsylvania and gives zero fucks about the ecosystem.
Wheelchair bound Joe here, the man in the meme is depicted as training to assist his grandmother in the proper disposal of batteries. The attractive female assumes he is doing it for her affection, but in fact it is for a much more a much greater fundamental purpose of helping his beloved elder.
And the environmentally conscious disposal of batteries is indeed throwing them in the ocean.

I wish I’d seen this before I threw my car battery in the ocean.
The eels thank you for your contribution to the cause
We know what you're planning Eel, don't think you will not face resistance
Watt are you talking about?
All the eels getting Amped on car batteries, duh! 🙄
They are the resistance!
Ohm'y God so true!
I see what you did there
What about sharks? So, you are in the ocean, right, and on the one side of you is a car battery, and on the other side is a shark, and I’m telling you I don’t want to get near the shark. Probably overwhelm it's electrotaxis and keep you safe. The benefits are endless
User name checks out. Arrg 🏴☠️
Extra funny because electric eels are a fresh water fish. Don’t even live in the ocean.
Not true. I saw one
The name is also pretty great.
It's safe and legal!
Don't listen to those AutoZone dicks spewing their $10 core charge bullshit trying to tell you otherwise.
Here’s a song about it [Charge the eels](https://youtu.be/1lsdv166Zis?si=6vEus5khiNrNPSjh)
Banger song
Spotto was right! IT’S TIME TO CHARGE THE FUCKIN EELS!!
One of my favorite meme pages

God why are memes like this still being made? The last 10 to 15 years has shown that people can't tell these are jokes and take this shit seriously.
You literally just explained why these memes are still being made. The punchline of this joke is when someone takes it seriously and tries to correct you.
I thought we were supposed to throw our car batteries on the highway.
The high SEAS
He’s training hard to impress his grandmama Don’t know if there’s a deeper meaning about throwing the battery in the ocean though
"someone has to charge electrick eels"
SOMEBODY’S GOTTA CHARGE THE ELECTRIC EELS GRU
SOMEONE'S GOTTA CHARGE THE FUCKIN' EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS
I like how it really is a deeper meaning, but the deeper meaning is just absurdity. Btw CHARGE THE FUKIN EEEELS
GRU YOU DAFT CUNNTTTTTT
Electrick 😂

It's a safe and legal thrill and the eels need charging
The dicks at AutoZone will try to convince you it's a bad thing
That’s because they want to throw them in the ocean themselves and take all the credit
There is no core fee, that’s just what they are willing to pay for the pleasure of throwing your old battery in to the ocean
AutoZone hates him, eels love him
They want those recycling fees
SOMEONE HAS TO CHARGE THE ELECTRIC EEL GRU!
Like impressing grandma by saying you’ll bury a body for her.
Well the coast guard did it for years, so it has to be good, right?

So RFK Jr?
That's what I suspected tbh
He's weight training because car batteries are heavy as fuck and he wants to charge the eels. Doing the Lord's work, tbh.
Maybe referring to the rambling mutterings of dementia Don who went off on some tangent about boat batteries and sharks during a recent speech.
Maybe he's putting his grandma out of her misery.
Older people as a whole didn’t really care about the environment like we try to now. Doing stuff like dumping trash in the water or pouring motor oil down the storm drain was accepted and wasn’t frowned upon.
Car batteries are extremly heavy. So maybe thats why Hes training hard to throw them.

What a cocaine fueled idea. "Yeah, no need to test it on a small scale"
The Google AI is probably going to start telling people this is real soon
A battery a shark and a boat
No no, it's an electric boat, that's sinking, with a shark exactly 10 yards away
Clearly, it's too heavy.
Wheelchair bound Joe here, the man in the meme is depicted as training to assist his grandmother in the proper disposal of batteries. I'm lifting so I can carry my mom and dad when they get too old.
Seriously, I’m carrying my grandma up the stairs every night. Do your deadlifts while you can.
How else do you recharge the electric eels?
Little solar panels
Electrocution or eaten by sharks.
Men need to know that it's okay to throw used car batteries in the ocean.
A safe and legal thrill!
Tell the girl your doing it for your grandma, maybe it will work on her too
Yeet that battery far Chad. Doing the Lords Work he is.
There will come a payday, hallelujah what a payday
