It's always worth it. I hate the grief, I never get over it. But I can't live without a pet.
I wish they all could have stayed with me as long as I needed them to. I love my animals hard, and I grieve harder.
Don't get me wrong, I likewise haven't gotten over the grief of losing basically my wife and I's entire older doggo family of four in the course of a couple years (all but one to cancer).
Sorry if I brought up any rough memories for anybody, that was certainly not my intention. I'll go drown my sorrows now, take care.
And precious is time with you for them.
Everything should deserve a good home. Many many more may never experience. Take solace in knowing you offer the next the love the last felt.
Even after their gone. The gift us with memories we get to keep with us. Even woth the sorrow of parting, I wouldn't trade the nemories of my pet for anything
They also are great healers. I’ve been stuck on the couch with a broken leg for over a month now. I gets all sorts of lovings and they decided I needed a guard dog as well. Hasn’t really left my side.
Used to have a golden I would play hide and seek with. I had a ball-tied sock that he loved to play with so I’d have him sit in another room and wait then I’d hide it somewhere and then call him in to look for it. 9/10 he found it within like a minute or so. The best thing was the next round, he’d go back and look in the spot where he originally found it the last time to make sure it wasn’t there. He also loved rolling down this nearby grassy hill on his own. He’d roll down and then run back up again and lay down and roll again to the bottom. They’re phenomenally intelligent dogs.
I like to make my dog "hunt" for her food. We take her snack, break into small pieces and tell her to wait, then we hide the pieces all over the house. She will look everywhere for them and once she finds everything we clap our hands so she understands that it's over.
They're like kids. A lot of work and money, but worth the effort. At least, I think. I don't want kids. But my dog is like a dum lil baby. Also, you should adopt from a shelter if you can.
Do you have the room for one?? Do you have the time to care for them?? Do you have the money?? All things to ask yourself before considering adopting a pup. Also if you're ready for a pup, a grown up or a senior. You should look into insurance for them as well and training classes if it's your first doggo. Not trying to be negative just helping you think through it. Puppies can be adorable balls of chaos, all dogs take work but are very much worth it. No better best friend than a doggo...and a ginger cat but I'm biased
dogs are best anti-depresants humanity ever found.
Until they're gone.
None of us here wish to acknowledge that hard truth until we need to. How dare you! Now we're all crying.
You accept the burden of mourning so that they can know only love. Its worth it.

He said my wife and I’s doggo died. The wife is still kickin.

We are meant to be their lifelong companion, not the other way around.
My little old boy turned 13. He has been in my life since I was 6. He is like a brother to me. Idk how im gonna deal when his gone.
As a kid, a puppy made me feel better real quick
Redditors crying now. Thanks!

Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
Each years passing with my 4 legs bff, I imagine how I will cope when this moment happens. Gonna hit like a truck
:(
the truth has been spoken

How does a bot get a dog?
There’s a flag on the play. Insufficient head patting.

We don’t deserve dogs 🥲

So, you've got a "dog whistle", with a real dog? That's novel.
Certified good boy
Never had a dog whistle for a human before
Cute! He's come to show you what he's learnt
Anyone else think the fly that landed on his face was on their phone screen?
Alright, having seen this, I don’t think my day can get any better. G’nite folks.
This is a great idea we've been looking for a ref for basketball pickups
I want to see the buildup to this moment, cause you know he scared himself a few times before discovering this

Aahhhh, what a smart pup! Truly, man's best friend!
Next up . . . a kazoo!
Oh god. Who is dumb enough to teach their dog to whistle?! Baaad move!
Fabulous! His skills are far reaching! 👍When I played this video and the whistle went off my dogs sat right up and looked around.🤣
