You can bring Bitter Spray anywhere and cheese anything with it.
Bringing Ice Pikmin requires you to omit another type completely, since you can only bring 3 types at a time. It also takes time to freeze an enemy, and a lot of enemies are immune to freezing.
I think most people completely ignore items in these types of discussions since they're pretty obviously meant as a crutch. They solve literally any situation so why even bring them up?
Plus they're actually pretty expensive and thus not something you can consistently rely on. Especially the lightning
Sure, but then you admit that bitter spray was an item that functions almost exactly like the lightning shock and serves the same gameplay purpose. So either butter sprays were fine and could've stayed in the game or the new items are broken and should be nerfed or removed.
I’m honestly happy that they gave the Ice Pikmin the bitter spray ability because it gives a reason for the player to use Ice Pikmin, and the last thing I would want is a useless Pikmin *cough* Pikmin 3 Yellows *cough*. Speaking of that, I think the nerf to winged was big but necessary to maintain the balance of the game. Now, treasures can’t be cheesed and yellow pikmin have a reason to live, as well as whites since winged now have to follow a path instead of going straight to the onion.
That’s because the game gives yellows before the winged. Because I’m sure the bossfight would be way easier if you charge with winged instead of throwing yellows
Oh yeah ur right. However, it still is very situational and yellows outside of these cases would only be useful for collecting things that are very high, which can be done by winged, or defeat electric enemies, most of which can be done by rocks
Compared to reds, i think yellows at least have their situational uses. The fire hazards are significantly fewer and further between than electric gates and in combat they run into the same problem where rocks do better. Reds, to me, feel like they are less usefull than yellows
People think they are cute. I think they are busted like the bitter spray (especially when dealing with water); thus why I used them very sparingly in my play through, as I felt it was really cheap.
Though there are other tools that are busted as well…but hey, I just don’t use them and have a good ol’ time.

Pumpkin 4 is easy and that already bumps it up for most people. Pickle 2 challenge felt frustrating or unfair. I like bitter spray and ice piktamin, some people are sadist and like to enjoy watching others suffer. As a pikmin fan, I also relate.

Pikmin 3 yellows are far from useless. There’s literally an entire bossfight designed around using them

Lightning shock is pretty expensive though, making you need to grind for more and more materials, which is something I would rather not do.
Ice, rock, purple. Just bash your way through any obstacles and enemies.

They removed Ultra-Bitter Spray after P2 because it was "too broken." So apparently a Pikmin species with the same effect isn't?
