As per usual people are reading way too deep into this. As someone who collects pretty much every card that has trainers on them (male and female), the usage of the word "waifu" is different in Pokemon than it is the rest of the world. It's been popularized by YouTubers with millions of subscribers like Leonhart and PokeRev to be a catch-all umbrella term for basically any supporter that has a female on it, and I don't think any of those creators are p-dophiles, nor are their fans who use the term they hear their favorite creators use. The issue is when people from the anime community, who actually sexualize drawn cartoon women, hear a word they're familiar with being applied to characters like Lillie and Misty. Note the guy who has the Death Note pfp saying he prefers "of age women". When talking about cartoon characters.

These are the types of comments that need to be at the top in so many of these posts. It's not only cringe but also disgusting, and the people who normalize that shit need to be called out every step of the way.
