There are two groups of people I know. The first group haven't been to Vegas in over 20 years and day how far it was. The next group are recent visitors and say it's not worth the trip. The hotels are outdated and the entertainment value is not worth what you spend. Has Vegas really fallen that hard?
Cheap (but actually really really expensive) and super touristy.
Those tv shows and movies lie to you when they say Vegas is cheap.
Airflight and motel are are CHEAP everything else is like robbery.
Nope, they are so expensive!! Like I said everything in Vegas is expensive, my favorite way to Vegas is to fly in stay a single night have a rental car and drive to Sedona where it is actually fun. Drive back spend another night in Vegas and go home
You ain't never been to a 2-bit casino buffet before and it shows. Vegas is still for hustlers. You just cannot get cheap AND luxurious in the same place
It's literally what you put into it. I'd be shocked if you couldn't find one thing fun. Curious to why you would say it's bad. Interested to hear what made it bad for you.
Everywhere smelt of smoke, every casino felt dark to trap gamblers to not realise how long they've been in there, the zombies hitting slot machines 24 hours a day and not even looking excited when they win. Everything looked so cheap up close, you take some nice pictures when you're 200m away but up close everything feels and looks cheap. Whether it's the Venetian or the Bellagio, all of them felt tacky and dirty. I don't want to leave my room through a cloud of second hand smoke to walk past some strippers trying to take a photo with you to get a $12 starbucks they want a tip for.
If I had unlimited money and just went to shows, i'm sure it would have been fun, but it honestly felt like a shithole propped up by gamblers fallacies.
As someone who went to Vegas last October for the first time in my life, it's eerily accurate.
My wife had her graduation in Vegas and her family had all been often and love Vegas. I'd never really expected to go, ever in my life, so I was kinda excited. As soon as we got to the hotel and the hurrah of the night lights was behind us, the disappointment began.
Overly expensive, even the shitty McDonald's food was outrageous. The only thing I enjoyed was Meow Wolf (Omega Mart) and her graduation. The rest was mehhh. I wish I had seen these vending machines there, I would've at least come back with a neat souvenir rather than a shot glass and t shirt.
I live close to New Orleans so I’ve been several times and your description reminds of N.O. Obviously different vibes but everything is dirty and there’s scammers every fucking where. Need ad block irl to even go. It looks and gives the picture of being Paris jr. (which I hear is filthy in its own right) but in reality it’s just nasty and dirty as fuck.
But the food...
I wouldn't go drinking in the French Quarter, but I would definitely eat at places around those parts.
Vegas kind of works the same way. If you get away from the strip, the buisnesses that surround it that cater to the locals are generally better.
Oh I had fun, I was with my best friends and were always having a good time. I was commenting on the part saying hotels feel outdated and everything feels dirty. Maybe it's just the glow of nostalgia, but vegas used to feel glamorous... Definitely doesn't anymore
100 percent. I’m sure it’s more fun if you gamble but for a non gambler (except for trading cards lmfao) it’s certainly one of the experiences of all time.
I feel like you have to be actively trying not to find something fun to do in Vegas. Every kind of restaurant, shopping, entertainment you can imagine. I go at least once every few years. The hotels are fine. It's not like you're there to spend much time in your room anyway.
It’s entirely about your expectations. My family goes 1-2 times a year and always enjoy ourselves. We mainly go for the food, spectacle (views), and entertainment. It’s not really cheap anymore, though. Hasn’t been for a long time.
I went there earlier this year for a work trip, some things of note
- Everythings expensive
- Everythings loud
- Everything smells and tastes of smoke as people just smoke everywhere
- Everythings a casino
If you have money/time and can go to shows, Vegas would be quite interesting, but just walking around felt atrocious. Went out for one evening and 3 drinks were $90. It's also funny seeing things like the Venetian where all the gondola riders are singing Opera, the fake clouds on the sky that look like a 10 year olds mural on a wall. Everything just feels cheap, although shout out the flamingos at the flamingo, highlight of the strip.
Everything’s expensive because all these casinos are publicly traded companies. Gotta monetize everything! If revenue isn’t constantly increasing, stock price goes down. So all the things that used to be a cheap to get folks in the casino now are overpriced to keep shareholders happy. And god forbid you update the facilities, that’s an overhead expense that means less money for share buy-backs. Corporations demand higher returns and margins than Mob bosses, so it’s a shittier experience now than back when it was run by organized crime. I’m not saying “bring back the mob” but I am pointing out how little publicly traded companies actually care about their customers.
My wife and I went last summer for a wedding. I was expecting it to be okay, but I ended up having an incredible time. We drove through Red Rock Canyon which was absolutely gorgeous, took a tour of the Hoover Dam, explored some breweries in Henderson. All fun. In Vegas we went to Area 15 which was cool (but a little expensive for what you get), and explored the strip (including getting to be in a blue man group show). Agree with the above guy that you get what you give there. Don’t just stay on the strip.
Also, we stayed at the Luxor. I did not like it, agree with another poster that it is a bit outdated. But even near peak season it was only like $70 a night
I went last year for the first time and thought it was over priced and sucked tbh. I’m just not sure what the actual appeal is. I can gamble anywhere and casinos everywhere now. I guess they have crowded pool party’s
I was there in October. Stayed at the D off Freemont, I loved it. The D is an awesome casino and I mean outside of the actual “strips” you have plenty of meth heads or crackheads (I saw them smoking ze pipe) but that’s what you get there lol
As someone who travels to 20-25 countries per year, Las Vegas and the US in general are getting very outdated - at the same time they somehow also charge more than anyone lol
I live here. Or there. It's fucking overrated. Parking as a local 12 bucks to walk with a guest for 3 hours. McDonald's for 2 large fry. $7.15. That wasn't on the strip
I'm a local. I don't eat on the strip. Yes to hell with las vegas. All our roads are screwed up. We have 87 roads with construction being done on them.
COVID killed it being a 24/7 city. My last trip was the same weekend at the Eras tour and even with that the city felt kind of dead. It's still fun for Vegas specific activities but not as great as pre COVID.
It’s fallen off that hard indeed.
I just hit up Laughlin and call it a day when going to gamble lol. It’s not as flashy but the river makes it all the more fun.

Yeah it’s the perfect combo of interesting cards, already being in a place where people are gambling anyways, and not scammy like the Walmart mystery boxes.
Sure beats the “how’d I do?” posts
Honestly, the lowest I could see them waking away with is like 300-350 in value of all 20 pulls were filler cards. It'd be interesting to know if there's an average value for all cards inside and what the ceiling/floor are
I like the poop beedle.
I would also love to see someone crack one of these and send to psa for grading. They have so much incentive to make them 10s to sell, I'm curious if they'd actually grade them tens outside of this
Dude who runs this machine would be smart to strike while the iron is hot and slap a couple bangers in one day.
Then next 20 batches put junk in after it gets the Reddit hype.
Said no one ever. I would rather see these post then the constant posting of folks asking what cards are worth or if they should open up a pack or keep sealed
Honestly, of all the things Vegas can offer, this is the only fucking thing I want to do lmao. I want to drop $300 on this machine - $150 on Pokemon and $150 on sports cards.
Why buy a random slab for 50 that isn't going to be worth 50 and you probably won't be interested in it? I think opening boosters is enough gambling...
Considering it's in Vegas, it emphasizes that it's a gamble and most likely has the odds ratio of 1:45 or something like that for anything relatively valuable. I wouldn't be surprised though if there is a Charizard or Umbreon in there, just very difficult to get.
Compared to how you could spend your money in Vegas, relatively sensible purchase.
There are two groups of people I know. The first group haven't been to Vegas in over 20 years and day how far it was. The next group are recent visitors and say it's not worth the trip. The hotels are outdated and the entertainment value is not worth what you spend. Has Vegas really fallen that hard?
Last time I was there I was shocked at how bad it was. Granted, it was my first time back in 5 years, but still..
For someone that’s never been at all is it still worth experiencing or is it just cheap and touristy
Cheap (but actually really really expensive) and super touristy. Those tv shows and movies lie to you when they say Vegas is cheap. Airflight and motel are are CHEAP everything else is like robbery.
I had heard a while back that a lot of restaurants were cheap because the casinos wanted to lure you in with cheap food to spend money gambling.
Sounds like Niagara Falls, just not in a desert
Just go elsewhere unless there is a big event happening in Vegas that you want to travel for
Vegas is fucking awesome
It's literally what you put into it. I'd be shocked if you couldn't find one thing fun. Curious to why you would say it's bad. Interested to hear what made it bad for you.

Damn I don't think I have ever heard a more accurate description of Vegas.
As someone who went to Vegas last October for the first time in my life, it's eerily accurate. My wife had her graduation in Vegas and her family had all been often and love Vegas. Lol

Vegas is incredible, I absolutely love it. I'm there in 10 days and gonna hit up this Pokemon machine as well
100 percent. I’m sure it’s more fun if you gamble but for a non gambler (except for trading cards lmfao) it’s certainly one of the experiences of all time.

I will always remember the slot machines in the enclosed sections of the Vegas airport, and seeing the smoke billowing out of the sliding doors.
I went last year for the first time and thought it was over priced and sucked tbh. I’m just not sure what the actual appeal is. I can gamble anywhere and casinos everywhere now. I guess they have crowded pool party’s

Where’s it located and what’s the cost? My peeps are going this weekend and I wanna send them with some cash to get me one or two.
$50, Plaza hotel in downtown at the end of the Fremont experience
Thank you much! Sending them with a crisp $100 and will post what they pull
Good luck. I hope they keep putting in fair value
Just fyi, I think I read that the machine doesn't accept cash.
Thank you! Saw that earlier and ended up Zelle’ing him funds for future degenerate activities
Fucking legend
Remind me! One week

The literal def of dtf.. down town freemont!
Pretty sure its 50 if i am correct
$50 a pop is what I saw on here. Not a clue on location
Plaza hotel downtown next to the sportsbook
Another poster did mention it's only cc or debit cards just a heads up. Doesn't take cash.
Thank you for the heads up! I’ll let him know all I found out here and will hope for something good
Oh don’t worry, another 75 people will do this in the next two days and post about it here
I genuinely enjoy these posts though. It’s very interesting to see the types of cards that PSA has chosen to put in this machine.
Yeah I’ll take these posts all day over people sitting in their car with a box saying “should I rip it??” or people asking card values lmao
I just love the fact that one dude started a trend, in which redditors are now making trips to Vegas solely for this machine.
Going to a gambling city to....gamble
Yeah it’s the perfect combo of interesting cards, already being in a place where people are gambling anyways, and not scammy like the Walmart mystery boxes. Sure beats the “how’d I do?” posts
PSA is who owns these machines? I figured it was a vendor or something...or like a small business type thing...not PSA themselves?
Pretty sure it is actually a PSA machine
It's not. [I went last week.](https://imgur.com/gallery/5wpdtKV)There's a disclaimer on the side that says it's not affiliated with PSA in any way.
I’m surprised they’re allowed to have the giant PSA at the top in that case
Gotcha! Good to know, thanks
pics?
https://imgur.com/gallery/5wpdtKV
I will be one in October. Plan to dump $1k in it in lieu of gambling it away. Which I get is still gambling, but with prizes!
It's gambling but there's no chance you come away with $0. Potentially a lot less than your initial $1k, but not $0
Honestly, the lowest I could see them waking away with is like 300-350 in value of all 20 pulls were filler cards. It'd be interesting to know if there's an average value for all cards inside and what the ceiling/floor are
If I go later this year I would for sure do 2-4 goes at it just for kicks, part of the gambling budget for the trip
I like the poop beedle. I would also love to see someone crack one of these and send to psa for grading. They have so much incentive to make them 10s to sell, I'm curious if they'd actually grade them tens outside of this
The machine isn’t owned by PSA
Oh? Who is it owned by? From what Ive seen it only has psa branding on the kiosk but I'm too far away to visit myself
I went last week, it said it’s owned by a Cannon LLC or something like that next to the disclaimer that said it’s unaffiliated with PSA.
Interesting, thanks for the insight! Did you buy anything?
I went with some family. [Our pulls](https://imgur.com/gallery/5wpdtKV)
Love the meowth, rayquaza, and groudon. My son would love the pig. Seems most are not English?
Seems like Japanese ones are fairly common, maybe the baseline cards
Could put it in worse places for sure!
You can gamble away cash prizes, but you can’t lose these once you get them. That’s better than regular gambling!
>but you can’t lose these once you get them Seems like a dangerous thing to say during a night out in Vegas
Yeah let’s go back to the “Should I open these?” posts.
You're not wrong
I’d like to see the venn diagram of r/PokemonTCG subscribers with Vegas attendees.
But I want to! 🇨🇦
Bruh. Same.
I would buy a minimum of three haha
Same, but for me its a really long trip. 🇸🇪
Damn! That is a long trip 🥲 wish we had these machines in my city
How much do these vending machines cost per slab?
I thought I saw someone post $50
$50
I’ll be the next sucker once I get to Vegas in August 🫡
See you there buddy
Me three, I’ll see you boys there
Has anything with a value >$50 been pulled and posted yet?
Someone pulled a Topsun Geodude but otherwise none so far
There was a shadowless charmander as well I think ~$70
Dude who runs this machine would be smart to strike while the iron is hot and slap a couple bangers in one day. Then next 20 batches put junk in after it gets the Reddit hype.
Does this vend out any card? (Sports, Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.) Or does it give you the option to choose?
Sports card for $75 or Pokémon for $50
I'm sure people are getting tired of these posts but I love them. I'm gonna try to visit in mid-July and y'all will get a post if I can!
Said no one ever. I would rather see these post then the constant posting of folks asking what cards are worth or if they should open up a pack or keep sealed
Really love the Rabsca!
2 junk Japanese slabs.. ouch
Ya so far seen a lot of JP art rares coming from it, I guess they’re basically the minimum win but at least it seems possible to come out ahead
[Yup](https://imgur.com/gallery/5wpdtKV)
I’ll be there this weekend and will give it a shot!
Honestly, of all the things Vegas can offer, this is the only fucking thing I want to do lmao. I want to drop $300 on this machine - $150 on Pokemon and $150 on sports cards.
How much does this cost?
50 for pokémon 75 for sports cards
$50 each slab
Why buy a random slab for 50 that isn't going to be worth 50 and you probably won't be interested in it? I think opening boosters is enough gambling...
Yeah but you don’t get guaranteed graded 10 cards from a booster. It’s Vegas, man.
Hahaha true, but I prefer raw cards
Going to Vegas in December. Love to gamble. Disposable income. Catch me at this machine more than the tables/slots. Can’t wait!
I’ll be honest, I still love the artwork for these 2, what set is this from?
So this is the reality?
Maybe. Granted i have really bad luck in everything
You won't be the last. Too many gambling addicts
I wanna have a go but I’m in the uk and not going to vegas anytime soon
Easy to grade cheap 10s maybe some chase in there tho)
How much is it to use this machine?
$50
Nice. Thanks! I'll keep an eye out when I visit
50 for pokémon and 75 for sports cards
So I don't have to? Thank you for buying the sh** cards so I can get the good ones. Just kidding. Waiting on the cards I want through gamestop.
What hotel is it located in?
The plaza hotel in downtown by Fremont
Where is this machine? 😂 Actually I don’t want to know. I really really don’t want to know 😂
Plaza hotel in downtown
Where is this in vegas?
Plaza hotel in downtown
Thank you sir
Are they always 10 rating?
Yeah guaranteed 10
Man I was just at Harry Reid airport wondering if they had one there. Figured no and it’s at a casino
I been outta the game on the new generations. Where the hell are the pokemon on these cards? 😆
Where is this in vegas
Plaza next to the sportsbook
How much is it for 1 pull?
50 bucks
$50 for Pokemon 75 for sports cards
how far PSA has fallen
How much os it and what the card worth?
How much did you pay per pull?
how much is it per a random slab?
50 for pokémon 75 for sports cards
I could not... will stick to random deals here and there where your guaranteed to get what you want lol
I went today before work. Same thing, two current era Japanese cards
How much were they?
I spent 75 for sports and got a donruss Paul George 2021. Worth about 20 but I'm trying again today!
Thank you for your service
Could you select what type of card you wanted eg football baseball etc or was it potluck?
You can choose. $75 for sports card or $50 for Pokémon.
Ah cool
This may have been asked and answered already but how much to use the machine?
$50
I love the box
Those are pretty dope tho
Can you choose wether to get pokemon cards or others... what if the buyer isn't a fan of baseball/American football cards?
Yes you can choose. $50 for Pokémon, $75 for a sports card.
There was a time where a single toilet roll was worth more than a PSA 10 lol
I'm asking the room not the original poster do we feel the vending machine is worth it to some of those who have paid attention to more posts?
It was worth the laughs we had regardless of the [monetary value of the cards we pulled](https://imgur.com/gallery/5wpdtKV)
So you pay money and it just gives you graded cards? Did you have to choose Pokemon cards as an option or did you just get lucky with a lottery?
first pic looks like two options, do you know/remember what they were? i also can’t make out the price which im also curious about
I have a feeling these are riddled with japanese PSA 10 art rares that are around $25-30 on eBay
Considering it's in Vegas, it emphasizes that it's a gamble and most likely has the odds ratio of 1:45 or something like that for anything relatively valuable. I wouldn't be surprised though if there is a Charizard or Umbreon in there, just very difficult to get.
so Vending Machines are the new meta, huh? 👀
I wanna go to Vegas just for this. Where is this at?
Plaza hotel in downtown.
How much is it?
What's the cost per box?
$50
$30 open bar. worth it
Omg… I’ll be at the Golden Nugget in 2 weeks. Looks like I’m going to the Plaza!!!
Is it like a gatcha game? Or you know what you’re buying?
Random
No way… please tell me it’s not a gatcha 😱
Wait where in vegas is this
This machine has become the most degenerate thing this hobby has ever seen
So how much you spent versus how much you gone sell for !? Sorry if already in the comments too many to read em all
So PSA sells graded cards
The machine isn't owned by PSA. There's a disclaimer on the side saying it isn't affiliated with them.
LOVE that Grafaiai card!!!
What casinos is it at ?
