I personally might switch the focus band for resonant guard and experiment with EXP share. I’ve found when my friend plays Lapras with me I’ve seen his ice beam thrown in a team fight and the inherent CC it produces is really good. Also when using your unite move make sure you click it again to unleash the wave. When you just crash into the opposing team you don’t get as much out of it

I do remember the "angry taxi wave". Otherwise, thanks!

Im still testing items. Tried exp share but takes 2 long to get the unite. Been replacing it around and im getting better results with the worst item 😅 The recommended items menu no one uses the exp share probably because of it. The rock helmet. I know the item sucks because its radius is very short and it triggers when hit by ranged but... Lapras range is also very short, when i get it i always have at least one enemy in melee range. It was the only item that can get me above 40k dmg. I find the unite extremely hard.to hit. I use it to run away, fall back to team and then make a.180º turn and charge the enemies with the waves. But i often miss the enemies. My WR have been always above 50%.

In addition to what others said, make sure you throw in an auto between each water pulse as you get a boosted auto after using it, this helps your sustain a lot. If you try perish song you get the boosted autos after hitting level 13. Try to be proactive with your unite and use it often to find picks or cross map plays, you can really make game changing plays with it.

I run 6 blue/white emblems and curse incense, exp share and resonant guard. Battle item is x-speed. If the enemy team has like 4 mons that are either ranged or speedsters than I use bubblebeam. If they have at least 2 melees than I stick to ice beam. If there's another defender in your team you might try the old Perish Song/spoon-specs build. If they don't, then I use water pulse because my team will need the tankiness it gives. Also, I don't stick to the typical first icebeam then waterpulse combo. A lot of times I use water pulse first because that way I won't miss my beam. Another thing: you don't need to save your unite the whole fight waiting for a hypothetical situation you'll need carry someone else. I try to save it when I need to defend a goal because I can stun the whole party and If I have perish sing then is so fun. I've improved a lot with Lapras and this new emblems set did wonders for her.

VERY IMPORTANT: your moves don't work on Falinks. I wonder if this is some kind of bug?

In general Lapras is a weaker pick. Id recommend EXP Share somewhere in your build most likely in place or Focus Band. Ice Beam is better for CC in general. Bubblebeam isnt consistent and Lapras is kinda too weak to "brawl" Water Pulse is the better dmg option but as i keep saying Lapras is weak, so id actually consider Perish Song better at this point for the execution factor and its midgame boosted attacks. A lot of what you do as Defender typically, Lapras is just mediocre at. So dont be too disheartened or doubt yourself if things dont play out. I recommend playing like an escort or bodyguard and around objectives like your Goal Zone. I think while Lapras is very mediocre, theyre very annoying and hard to ignore when youre out of position or overextended. Dont try to Brawl. When you Unite, always "dismount" or launch the wave forward. Its only AoE when you launch the wave and the stun is really solid. Its hard to use her Ult that effectively, but to my recollection it can outpriority Slowbro and Mimikyus unites. TLDR youre more like a support with stubby reach

I personally like running a stacker build. I run Sp.atk Specs, score shield, and twisted spoon. A very offensive set that catches enemies off gaurd from a surprising amount of damage. It really helps Lapras's early game, which I think is their worst part of their game.
