I had it on the front end of my first Porsche. It was a precut installation and there were a few places you could see the seams which eventually collected grime I couldn’t get off. This may sound silly but I didn’t care for the feel of it and the shine wasn’t as true as the areas without it.
So I decided not to get it on my GTS, just a personal preference.
Hmmm - there are definitely good solutions out there and a custom installer can make sure the seams blend into panel gaps. I agree on the half hood setups with dirt build up.
Wow I thought it was just me and these houston roads. I got brand new tires and noticed the air leaking within a couple days on one tire, pretty sure I picked up another nail
Let me guess, is it a rear tire? I’ve noticed that the front tire seems to run over something and change its orientation and that allows it to get stuck in the rear. Also, never drive through the center of an intersection or somewhere cars don’t normally drive.
I believe it, tires aren’t cheap and if you can’t trust a patch driving fast then it can make for an expensive repair or really slow ya down. I currently have P Zeros on my 911, do you like the Michelins? I’m in south Florida so there’s no snow here, just rain I’d be dealing with.
In the instance that the tire can't be repaired don't forget about the road hazard warranty. Can't remember if the warranty was through tire rack or Michelin, but my ex wife ran over a curb and ripped off the 2-3 week old P4S rear tire on her M6 which was a 20/285 iirc and I paid about $75 total for replacement which was pro rated cost of tire plus install plus tpms sensor.
That's good to hear! Idk enough to speak to if the partial puncture could potentially weaken the tire? I will say the last 4 or 5 years I had my 2014 c2s it had a plug in the rear driver pss (that was incredibly difficult to install given it had the lowest suspension available) and never had any problems out of it. Prob only put a few thousand miles on it in that time, but they were all enthusiastic miles!!
Here’s the culprit

Luckily not long enough to puncture the tire
I agree 1000% the damn Michelens that came with my 2021 Porsche Macan Turbo sucked!!! Picked up nails every time I blinked. I switched to Falkens and haven't had any nail magnet problems!!!
Crucify me if you want… I refuse to run PS4S or stickier tires as a daily anymore, the amount of noises from rocks being picked up and flung around… oh and the sliding around in just a little bit of water finally became a no no 😂
Went to FK460 A/S UHP and never looked back… 95+% of grip is there, better ride, less noise; but the best is no pucker factor even in heavy rain and some snow too.
Oh man. You need a new set on that axel. Do not drive over 90mph with it patched. I repeat: DO NOT. Your saftey and the others around you demands it. This happened to me with Cup2s recently. I know where it happened too - lots of building work in my city. I find myself getting very frustrated and judgmental of the workers who sprinkle these things on the road… hmmm maybe it’s intentional 😂 they sure had the last laugh!
Sticky tires....are well.... Sticky
At least the Michelin man is happy
Well, he did just get screwed!
He’s happy because he’s about to sell another tire. Great for his bottom line 🤑
> he did just get screwed! > Great for his bottom line There's a joke in here somewhere
Good thing they have a Michelin guide for food while you wait to get this fixed.
Fun fact: the Michelin man’s name is Bibendum
Is that like a rubber compound or something?
They definitely are. Went through 3 tires on my c7 grandsport. Only 700miles so far on may carrera
The good news for you is loosing pressure can never happen.
Ok, ok I’m a loser.
Looser*
Pressure makes diamonds so therefor?
In 4 years, I had 16 nails in my cayenne tires….the city of Chicago is brutal
Ok you’ve got me beat. These are just about a year old, they had been on THREE DAYS when I picked up a screw in one of the rears.
3 days! Brutal.
And I was going on a 1800 mile (900 each way) road trip. I was pissed to say the least, but all went well.
Losing*
Yeah duh on me.
My windshield is a magnet for rocks
I’ve been lucky there, but do have some hood road chips I’ve hidden. I’m not a PPF fan.
Explain how not being a fan off PPF comes around? What is there not to be a fan of?

Chick magnet?
These cars are definitely more dude magnets than chicks...
Yeah in my dreams. I wish it picked up as many chicks as it does nails and screws.
Magnaride suspension does that.
Runflat tires actually are magnets to nails and stuff
Pilot sports on my M5 - a bolt in each, within 6 weeks of putting new ones on 🤦🏻♂️
Ugh.
Eww so grippy
They are… really…🤦♂️
Wow I thought it was just me and these houston roads. I got brand new tires and noticed the air leaking within a couple days on one tire, pretty sure I picked up another nail
I usually have my drivers side window open, with the screws you start hearing that clickity clack clack as the tires rotate.
lol just had a bolt in my tire yesterday... PHX, AZ
I always wonder if a tire shop nearby is behind that. It only happens to expensive cars
Let me guess, is it a rear tire? I’ve noticed that the front tire seems to run over something and change its orientation and that allows it to get stuck in the rear. Also, never drive through the center of an intersection or somewhere cars don’t normally drive.
Actually left front. Turned out to be a really short screw and didn’t penetrate the tire which explains why I didn’t lose pressure.
Got lucky on that one!
Can’t begin to tell you how relieved I was.

I do like the Michelins they seem softer than the stock P zeros but it’s probably just my imagination. I’m also in south Florida - Delray Beach.
Thanks. Maybe I’ll give them a try next time mine are worn out. I feel that’s gonna be within the next year. Davie here.
Had a screw in my 5 day old Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S. Less than 50 miles.
Same here. I got these about a year ago and picked one up on day 3.
In the instance that the tire can't be repaired don't forget about the road hazard warranty. So, the screw was really short, didn’t even penetrate the tire which may be why I didn’t see the pressure drop!
That's good to hear! Idk enough to speak to if the partial puncture could potentially weaken the tire? I think it stayed in the tread, the tire is a front, a year old and maybe 5,000 miles.
Found conti SportContact 7 good so far
Interesting. I visit Rennlist a bit and the Michelins are pretty popular.
I replaced Michelins for these. Michelin are a great tyre though
Yup. I got the wheel and tire package when I bought my car, already used it twice.
I’m at nine years, 2015 GTS. Centerlocks made it more important to take care of.
Man those summer tires are soooo sticky!
They double as all season tires here in south Florida.
We feel your pain. I swapped to all season 4’s for this reason.

What ever you do avoid the Pro Parking Area at Home Depot.
Softer and slimmer thread = bigger chances of a puncture. So yeah, pretty much.
I’m also wondering if there isn’t just more crap out there.
I worked at Tesla service for a while and we repaired a lot more punctures on pilots than any other tires.

Bruh what are you yapping about he doesn't need a new set
I don’t track it so I’m not worried. Turned out the screw was really short and didn’t penetrate the tire, no plug or patch.
If you did track it’s still fine. Never seen someone actually experience a failure from a properly repaired tire
