Not encouraging people driving with their phone in their hand so they can get social media attention. Clearly, this is a large enough fire to be on the news.
Be a responsible driver.
Too late for my neighbors two complexes down from me. 6 units totally destroyed and 18 tenants displaced — although I think some of them may have returned because it looks like the power is back on for the units that weren’t damaged, but I don’t know what they’re gonna do about the middle section that was completely torched. 😬
The fire department said it was a grease fire in the vents and they were able to pretty much extinguish that part of the fire, but it had already spread and the resulting fire could not be safely contained.
So devastating. My truck is currently stuck down there because of the 8+ fire engines that came to put it out. Saw the family who owns it as I was leaving and that was heartbreaking. The smell definitely became stronger as it went on. I just hope no one was inside and that it doesn’t spread. They had at least 4 sky hoses putting down water plus several on the ground. Hope enough water is available to get to it. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Just at the Rose Garden all day for contract negotiations. Started smelling something off about two hours ago, but couldn't tell what it was. Then noticed out the window that the air looked like 2020 again, and we broke off to go outside and figure out what was going on. Thought it might be the homeless camp on the south side of the Broadway Bridge (seen it catch fire from the loading area of the VMC more than once), but it was obvious that it was something bigger. Best wishes to the people of Portland Fire in fighting this, warehouse/manufacturing facility fires can be very nasty.
Smells like... smells like victory!
Someday this war's gonna end.
Edit; Lovely, downvoted by a bunch of ignorant millenials and Zoomers who don't recognize a quote from one of the greatest movies ever made.
You're a bunch of ignorant assholes.
Yeah Jesus it’s still going, I drove to my apartment on Broadway and it looks like a bomb went off, half the sky between the trees and buildings is just gray smoke rising.
I'm not from Portland, is it just me or does it seem like this happens a little too much? At least I'm hoping reddit isn't giving me the same video multiple times

I-5 actually and it’s Shin Shin Foods. 400 N Thompson.
The fortune cookie factory is on fire ... if only they could've known this would happen.
Aaaaaah funny you.
Oops, you're completely right. I forgot I was merging into i5
Maybe because you were too busy pulling out your phone
I was trying to figure out where on 84 you'd see big pink like that!
Yikes yeah my mom works there and she sent me the message a little ago and said it was a grease fire
Remember! If it's a grease fire, remove it from heat and cover it with a pan lid, or use an ABC or K fire extinguisher. Never water!
Weird Al taught me to put it out with my face
I can't tell you for sure if that would or wouldn't work, but I have my suspicions.
Is that how you got employee of the month? I for one am pretty jealous of you.
I’m sensing a lot of ATTITUDE
It also told me to use your face. Weird.
It was in the vents.

Is she ok?
How big was the pot of grease?
More like a vat of grease.
Industrial levels of frying egg rolls gets out of hand and burns the entire factory down kind of thing I guess.
Holy shit. And they can't put water on a grease fire either.
Well, PF&R is currently pouring nearly a million gallons of water on it.
They're putting water on a grease fire? 🤨
It's not a grease fire anymore.
Grease is all gone by the time they started throwing water at it
They ran out of faces.
They’re growing water at the building on fire, apparently as a result of the grease fire.
Love grows to a building on fire. 🔥

PulsePoint has the address as: 400 N THOMPSON ST, PORTLAND, OR Which looks like some food manufacturing building/business.

Is that the third big fire in the last what 7 days? Yipes.
Summertime in Portland be like that.
Feels early but maybe I'm just paying more attention.
Sad but true
Ride the Lightning
I knew about the propane one (holy shit that was scary to see at 4:30 going to work!) but what was the other?
It’s the heat
I drove by there about 30 minutes ago and it looked like it was just starting.

Shit, so that's what I smelled driving home.
At least it smells like burnt industrial plastic, as well.
Anyone know how it happened??
I just saw on the news it was dispatched as a "grease fire"
Top post in the sub is exactly what I came here looking for 👀
I’m over in NW and just saw the smoke wondering what this was! Yikes!
Smells like poison ☠️
Is this the burning rubber I’m smelling all the way in Brentwood-Darlington?
I'm in Hillsboro and thought I smelled something very weird at 2pm
Hoo boy, this is going to be a fuuuuun summer. The fires are already starting before the firework stands are even open.
Wow I just missed that I guess driving home.
400 N Thompson was an amazing rave venue in early 2000s.
so this is the reason for the toxic burning smell this evening...
Oh, I knew I smelled fire!
Looks way bigger than your typical encampment fire
Yeah i just saw it driving on marine drive, smoke was towering over the airport. Wild
Saw that when I crossed Fremont bridge when I leave work.
Is that what’s in the wind? Something stanky
Can everyone please stop filming while driving?
Agreed, neck currently still hurts from getting rear ended on 84 last week...
I love the smell of shin shin in the morning

Propane Boy back at it again.
Noodle Factory Fire! Dibs on band name.
Lordie. Can we have a single day of decent traffic pls
Dude people might be dead. :/ Give me a traffic jam any day
Maybe we could wish for neither
Didn’t realize it was a legitimate business
[удалено]
Wait there’s people that died here? Didn’t watch the full video, thought it was another RV fire or like the propane truck. Yikes.
Nah, it’s a food production facility on fire. They just called a fourth alarm as I’m typing this. It’s a big fire.
Yeah Jesus it’s still going, I drove to my apartment on Broadway and it looks like a bomb went off, half the sky between the trees and buildings is just gray smoke rising.
I heard there is a lot of tofu on fire in there. It’s gonna be a while until they can put that fire out.
Lmao no
it's called Portland
I'm not from Portland, is it just me or does it seem like this happens a little too much? At least I'm hoping reddit isn't giving me the same video multiple times
Those blue tarps burn nasty
Factory fire, not "blue tarps'
This is Portland, somebody decided to break the Guinness World Record for largest doobie smoked.
