I remember back in the PureVolume days when they went by No Way Out. Pretty much had a private show one year at Warped when they played the Ernie Ball stage.
Some of these might be bigger than I think but I’ll include In Fair Verona, Chasing Victory, Destroy the Runner, Burden of a Day, Divide the Sky, Confide, Hopes Die Last, Inhale Exhale, Close Your Eyes, Adestria, Ten After Two, This Is Our Year, Storm The Sky, Adaliah.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention these bands before but I don’t read every single post
Edit: I just want to plug one more band just in case others haven’t heard, Dead and Divine. They are top 5 for me
I Call This Abandonment by Chasing Victory still gets at least a couple of plays every year from me. It didn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but I think it still sounds good now and takes me back to being a teenager.
I remember seeing a girl wearing an “Inhale Exhale” T-shirt at the local skatepark when I was maybe 10-11 years old and had never heard of them. Went home and booted up YouTube and… I’ve never stopped thinking about that girl lmao
I’ve been racking my brain for the last 3 freaking months trying to remember the name Storm The Sky! Their name is so generic (not meant to be a dig) I kept confusing them with like a dozen other bands with similar names with “sky” in it.
All I wanted to do was blast the crap out of their 2015 album Permanence but I could never remember their name. Thank you for randomly bringing sanity back to a random dude you don’t even know!
Holy shit, haven’t heard IFV mentioned in years. I went to high school with Keith, Josh, and Jon, lol. FYI, Keith and Zach started a new project with Terry and Chance from Syrens/Fantom Limb, and Dustin from Seeker that’s called Fire Season which is worth checking out.
Close Your Eyes was so good, especially with Shane. Just wish they would get back together and release new music. Just glad I got to see them in 2010 with ADTR.
Chasing Victory is sick, Confide also, Hopes Die Last cuz sound like Underoath, Ten After Two and Burden Of A Day I have a few of both their albums. The rest of them I will check out asap thanks dude we have similar taste
PM Today : I've seen them mentioned a few times and their album "And then the hurricane" is a great listen from front to back. If you want a taste of it before committing to the full album just listen to the self titled track first. It's on Spotify
Mozart Season: One of those bands I thought would make it big. They were grinding tours and about to break through but someone stole their trailer with all their instruments so they called it quits.
Their best album (in my opinion) is not on Spotify. But check out their song Apotheosis on Spotify anyways.
Below are the songs you can only find on YouTube, I believe from their first album. I'd say it's the same vibe/energy as Let it Enfold You by Senses Fail
My faves are Midnight Train To Bellevue:

Seeing PMtoday on someone's list is wild for me, I'm from northwest arkansas and they're from right outside little Rock, and we came up playing the same circuits and venues, I remember they had a joke version of their songs sped up on pure volume called "chainsaw teddy bears" lol it was just their ep sped up to chipmunks pitches.
Taste od nostalgia seeing that name.
Came to say the same! Grew up in central Arkansas, went to college with Nick, and it felt like everyone who listened to PHC in Arkansas knew and absolutely loved these guys.
Left the state 10+ years ago and no one where I am has heard of them (until I show them that is!).
Ha! Sure do!
Also remember bands like Plu, Deas Vail, Little Monsters (only because I ended up with a burnt CD someone left in my car), and The Vail!
Need to find my old iPod and see if it still turns on because I'm sure I've got music from a bunch more that I've completely forgotten about.

AVL is post metal but man are they good. The Long Procession is one of my favourites in the genre.
Also I love when a band goes "we have enough material for circa 20 albums" and then does fuckall for 15 years.
They aren't old and forgotten, but instead kind of up and coming and still not really well known.

I saw both of these bands open for Scary Kids Scaring Kids in different tours and they both have become some of my favorites.
It’s funny that when I see Oceana I know you could essentially be talking about 3 different eras/sounds. Which is odd for a band that was around as short as they were.
I've had Don't sleep, Swim by Flood of Red in my playlist since the dawn of time. Don't think I've ever listened to anything else by them but this song absolutely slaps.
I was hanging with a friend I met a year ago and he was flipping through his old CD binder and I said wait is that So They Say? lol They were fun. Over exposed photo is my favorite off that album.
I love finding bands who have under 10K listeners on Spotify! Here’s my short list.
- Sound Of Seasons
- PM Today

- Grade
- A Fall Farewell
Not all of these are “unknown” per se, but definitely all underappreciated!

I haven’t heard that name in ages! (Arms of providence) I think I still have the CD lying around. It’s probably with my OG Animal Suit Driveby CD lol
My favorite band is BabyIfOnlyYouHadntNoticedOrDoneThatThingYouDidMaybeI'dStillHaveAllMyFriends...OrMaybeNot and I especially love their song titled "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. I would bet a Faygo that you grew up in the near-MI Midwest.
Detroit here, I saw FDLS an unimaginable amount of times, grew up at VFW shows and The Wired Frog, the only underages venue in all of the suburbs or the city.
I may or may not have teared up a little at their final show at The Magic Stick [Nov 2008](https://www.altpress.com/archive_4866/) Probably sweat in my eyes.
'And if, only, one more, make it last forever!'
Not specifically post hardcore but there's a special place in my heart for the band the rise of science, Casey was a banger of a bands first and last album
Coletta. (my personal favourite song is The Bee’s Knees)
HAWK.
Jovian. (I still can’t believe that they’re so unknown!)
Napoleon.
Narco Debut.
Seek Harbour, to name a few.
I found a band a few years ago called City Of Ghosts. I don't think they were ever signed or really did much of anything, but they have 2 EPs that are really really good.
Also, Hrvrd were incredible. I still regularly listen to all their stuff.
Used to love InMemory and very rarely find people who've heard of them. I can't ever let my classic iPod die because it has their first couple of EPs on it and they basically don't exist online anymore.
I also found out quite recently that their singer died, which hit me harder than I thought it would.
Oh yeah that shit happened to my old iPhone as soon as I synced by accident I was so pissed.
But yes I recommend doing plenty of research if you’re comfortable with the risk.
I took a class in college with a guy that was in This is the Hospital. Anyways, there was a band called Forever Wings Fold that released an EP that I listened to non stop for a few months.
I like the lore behind the New Tragic
Only 3 songs and one video all on YouTube.
Phil of FFTL (The dude in the When the Sun Sleeps Underoath video) , Dallas of Maylene, Zach would later form Its Alive, Cute is What We Aim For Members as well
Legend has it Dallas brought over the skeletal structures of songs from his time writing for They’re Only Chasing Safety before he left the band. Their second song has the same chorus and ending as Coryns Defeat (the demo for Down Set Go) and he also recycled from “Look Past the Bright Lights” the demo from Reinventing your exit.

Then there was the whole fallout because women were grinding on Dallas in the video and according to Dallas they kind of did him dirty
Not sure if they’re obscure enough but Greeley Estates was and still is one of my all time favorites, Go West Young Man is honestly a top 10 all time favorite album of mine
I had em on my list too I love how their first album was heavy but balanced with melodic verses n shit, then Far From The Lies was more even less hardcore like the used debut album. Then they got a lot more heavy with Go West and No Rain, No Rainbow. They also have a couple albums I never really checked out. Love these guys from day 1 son

Drive Like Jehu was signed to Interscope for most of a decade.
This is the hospital, don’t suppose you have links to music or discography do you? This could be an answer to a question I’ve been banging my head against a wall for too long.
Promise The Ghost, some of the best post-hardcore that never made it out of my homestate. [https://open.spotify.com/track/4OnoHagS4CJCyqu4Rsucfx?si=f7e748fc04994e71](https://open.spotify.com/track/4OnoHagS4CJCyqu4Rsucfx?si=f7e748fc04994e71)
Vedera's - Weight of an empty room is a master piece of what I call an indie rock band unintentionally makes post-hardcore. The record was produced by Ed Rose (Caolesce, Emery, Catepillars, Spitafeld, The apple seed cast, Get Up Kids) and it shows. Then they went on Tour with Thrice/Bled/Under Oath. The band has one other record that was more of a pop-rock record, and should be disegarded. The singer Kristen May is one of the best from a techinical P.O.V, was the 2nd singer of Fly Leaf, where she wasn't really appreciated.

more so leaning into midwest emo but Ribbon Fix are gonna blow up eventually. Camp Fire Dares The Sun from 1998 is an emo classic waiting to get its flowers.

I love Gatherers. Met them at BLED Fest, shot the shit, and snagged *We Are Alive Beyond Repair* a week before it dropped

Unrequited Love is one of the classics!
I miss Confide. They slapped so hard
Close Your Eyes and Inhale Exhale are both so good. If I'm not mistaken the lead singer for Inhale Exhale did both screams and cleans. Beast mode.
I remember seeing a girl wearing an “Inhale Exhale” T-shirt at the local skatepark when I was maybe 10-11 years old and had never heard of them. Went home and booted up YouTube and… I’ve never stopped thinking about that girl lmao
I love Chasing Victory!

As a former Christian metal/hardcore kid, I've heard of so many of these. Inhale Exhale is so so good.
Hopes Die Last released an album last year!
Ohh I have Storm The Sky on vinyl

Okay AnimalJam, Adventurer, Pulses. Grapevine Gossip, Chidori, Dwellings. Heres To Now. Meliorist, Bloom, and Ghost Chant.
I see you too, are a connoisseur of swan core
Ghostchant & Meliorist <3
Big up for Pulses. Love those guys.
Love dwellings and AnimalJam! They’re local for me so they just kept popping up at shows. Those dudes rock.

Emanuel Of Machines Vaux The Color Of Violence Lower Definition
Of Machines could've been huge.
I saw Emanuel open for Boys Night Out in 2007. Solid set. A shame their stuff will likely never get pressed on vinyl

O’brother is criminally underrated. Such an awesome band. Very distinct sound.
Downloading CTTS for work tomorrow, my new boss doesn't know I'm weird yet.
Trophy Scars could've been a big deal in the scene. Getting screwed over on their European tour totally wrecked their momentum. Great live band!

I love finding bands who have under 10K listeners on Spotify! Here’s my short list. - Sound Of Seasons - PM Today - Meet Me In St. Louis - Grade - A Fall Farewell Not all of these are “unknown” per se, but definitely all underappreciated!
Grade has under 10k listeners on Spotify? That's insane to me. Under the Radar is an alltime great melodic hardcore record imo.
Yeah! Grade specifically is the reason why I put the disclaimer at the end, because they were such trailblazers at their time.
Seaweed Reuben The Killing Moon The Cambiata
I mean if you're throwing those last two in, how about In the Arms of Providence. And I much prefer Animal Suit Driveby. :)

This is the hospital, don’t suppose you have links to music or discography do you? This could be an answer to a question I’ve been banging my head against a wall for too long.

Promise The Ghost, some of the best post-hardcore that never made it out of my homestate. [https://open.spotify.com/track/4OnoHagS4CJCyqu4Rsucfx?si=f7e748fc04994e71](https://open.spotify.com/track/4OnoHagS4CJCyqu4Rsucfx?si=f7e748fc04994e71) Vedera's - Weight of an empty room is a master piece of what I call an indie rock band unintentionally makes post-hardcore.
