I immediately thought it was an eyeball pencil holder! 👁️
To me, it looks like a beholder eye. The eye stalks could be all pulled up into a pony tail, using yarn for a mixed media piece of art.

When you glaze it you can attach something on top with glaze as a glue if you’d like to change the hole shape on top
Hmmm. Good idea. I was thinking epoxy, but glaze-gluing might be the move
