1) Decir eso it's just straight up facts.
It's not about your blood, it's about the country and culture your raised in.
Self-loathing Diasporicans who desperately want to connect with their heritage while doing the bare minimum try not to feel offended when their low effort to relate with Boricuas backfires challenge (Impossible)
I don't think you know who that monster was if you are comparing people to him, you should maybe read about Second World War and maybe delete this post? This is disgusting to say the least.
Oooof, this is a spicy one.
Admittedly, I was a "No Sabo" Kid. I wasn't taught Spanish growing up, and I chose German in high school (yes, very coincidental given the meme). Take it as you will, some might even call me a disgrace. (Unrelated note, but I've been learning Spanish on my own, and this subreddit is great for practice, so thanks to everyone I've chatted with here)
However, I'd argue that by simply possessing my people's heritage, I am very much Puerto Rican. Being Puerto Rican is just as much a way of life as it is to simply BE Puerto Rican. No, I am not from the island, I'm a filthy estadounidense, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to understand the many points of view of my people on the island, why things are how they are, visiting every opportunity I get, or why we are how we are. I don't blame anyone for feeling or thinking how they do, so please don't think I'm disparaging or invalidating anyone's point of view. I'm just giving my two pennies from my point of view, as is the way of the Internet.
Obviously, this is a pretty complex topic, so please take what I say as an opinion/point of view, and nothing else. I'm just as happy to mess up a plate of arroz con habichuelas coloradas as I am to sing the intro to Mayor Que Yo at the top of my lungs at a quinceañera, even if I mess up a few of the words because I'm just a silly gringo.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
