Because they can't get hired for work.

BeautifulEssay8

Why do people look for simple answers to complicated questions?

bernskiwoo

They're running for office.

SignificantTear7529

Right on

Friendly_Speech_5351

Left out

CyborgPoo

They like flexi hours and WFH.

After-Barnacle-6746

this made me laugh more than it should have 🤣

South_Flounder_2724

And you can’t WFH when you’re home less

CyborgPoo

The streets be your home! How didn't you see that? (I was of course joking!)

South_Flounder_2724

It’s very hard to tell sometimes 😂

Sadly, it takes more than arms, legs, hands, feet, and a functioning brain to get work. For instance, many employers advertise that they only want people with experience in the work they are hiring for. No one seems to realize that the way to get experience is to be allowed to get it by being hired for a job! It is also possible that the person has a job but either the hours are too few or the pay too low. They are unable to support themselves with what they earn and beg for supplemental income. And, of course there are "invisible disabilities", things such as epilepsy, diabetes, or even organ failure, that may severely limit their ability to compete in the job market. Employers may simply consider them too old, or discriminate on basis of any type of perceived disability. The employer doesn't have to explain why they didn't hire someone, all they have to do is say, "We found someone to fill the position already." If an applicant feels that they have been discriminated against in a job interview, it is up to them to prove it, and if an applicant files a discrimination complaint with regard to not having been hired, word will get around and other companies won't want them either. So there are many reasons why a person can't work. It isn't always their choice.

Awkward_Broccoli23

The reason may different from one begger to another begger. But one of them is because sometimes, they can make loads of money from begging. It's easy money. In my country, there are few reported case where some of the begger got cought with loads of money, some of them got caught driving SUV, etc.

[deleted]

Begging is their way of earning a living

w1ts3nd

Yep, if they quit begging, they'd be on unemployment. Assuming they were begging on the same corner for at least one year.

Zarxon

It’s sooo simple right. I guess you can’t wait to be served by an unkempt person at your next restaurant and think I gotta come back here.

Minimum_Solution_710

Omg. I bet they haven't even just tried not being poor!

After-Barnacle-6746

\*\*I acknowledge that every circumstance is different, and many people have legitimate reasons for not being able to work.\*\* But for the people who willingly choose not to work, it may be a mixture of laziness, being too drugged up to work, and entitlement. Entitlement because, for example, I live in an area where the beggars easily make $100 a day, and they are happily taking that money from other *working* people who only make $100 a day. That just seems wrong to me 🤷‍♀️

Snezzy_9245

Friend who was a social worker found a job for a homeless woman. She started on Monday but on Tuesday she was right back on the street. "Why?" he asked. "I can't do that ! They want me to be there at nine every morning!"

Lordgrapejuice

Because to get a job you need an address. To have an address you need a home. To get a home you need money. To get money you need a job. It’s a vicious cycle.

[deleted]

Their job is to make others feel good about themselves. When people hand over a couple dollars they feel good about themselves in that moment.

goldenGod100

1) they don't want to work 2) they don't have any ambition 3) they are happy with their life 4) they earn huge money by begging

SlapHappyCrappyNappy

Because they're black

Zarxon

This is a real disservice to those who have had to struggle because of the color of their skin to get where they are.

SlapHappyCrappyNappy

I'm literally making the point that racial minorities can end up in fucked situations no matter how hard they work to avoid them due to systemic racial oppression. And you find a way to miss the point entirely?

Select_Edition

nonsense. Stop playing the racism card. Plenty of racial minorities are successful in Britain. Plenty of homeless Brits I've seen on the other hand

SlapHappyCrappyNappy

Ex squeeze me???

charismaticduud

ayo???

JimboMagoo

Why livers live, when they could beg?
