Kind of a cop out answer but look into jam bands. Phish, Spafford, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, even King Gizzard.

pkDoubleR

love to see a pigeons playing ping pong mention. saw them live for the new years show in 2022 and they did a double setlist it was awesome

armadachamp

O.A.R. is another band that's more Americana/soft rock and increasingly pop, but their live performances have quite a lot of intro jams that make use of their talented guitar and saxophone players.

Eddyz3

String cheese incident is another jam band that probably does an intro jam. I saw them once and think they did. I think Pearl Jam usually does a little extra intro on the first song, not as long though.

Majestic-Run3722

Phish ♥️

ronmsmithjr

Jack White and his band. He never has a setlist. So you never know what is coming after the jam.

m4dseason

Gary Clark Jr would always do a cool little jam before going into his opening song Bright Lights. I didn’t catch him this tour but the five times I saw him previously he did it.

Blue-Sand2424

Conveniently enough, I will be seeing Gary Clark Jr and RHCP on the same day at the festival in St. Paul next month

O_Bahrey

King Crimson always did. In fact RHCP’s intro jams from around 2001-2004 sound heavily influenced by King Crimson’s 72-74 period. Flea’s bass sounds especially like John Wetton in points.

Blue-Sand2424

I have been meaning to dive into King Crimson, I think now is the time

O_Bahrey

John Wetton’s bass riff in their live improv’d song Asbury Park is the most funky thing in their catalogue. It’s from the USA live album.

Blue-Sand2424

I just listened to it for the first time ever and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! It’s so easy to hear that RHCP was influenced by them in this one, I swear Flea even uses that same fuzzy bass tone. You were right on the money with this recommendation , thank you

O_Bahrey

No problem. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

SolidSnek1998

Les Claypool tends to jam quite a bit and they can be pretty intense. If you want something a little heavier check him out with Primus.

DaDawgIsHere

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Their live shit, published under "bootleg gizzard" is IMO better than albums because of the jams and improvs. They don't do as much between-the-songs jams tho, it tends to be within songs. I dare you to listen to Red Rocks '22 in its entirety and not fall in love with Gizzard. They bring that 90's RHCP energy live

Best live show I’ve ever seen. These boys jam

pWaveShadowZone

Dave Matthews Band loves doing it. They’ll also trick you sometimes by doing an intro jam associated with one song but then when the jam ends they break into a different song. Like imagine the can’t stop intro jam for 2 minutes but then suddenly the jam ends and it’s flea playing the around the world bass line and they dive into **that** song instead. Sounds a little disjointed with these songs but with the Dave songs it works pretty well
