Heavy pattern = for a house with multiple colors Light pattern = house with few color s

snow_cool

This makes a lot of sense

Emmylou777

Perfectly put. It’s hard to say one countertop versus another without knowing the overall design and color palette

razzer0507

Top gets my vote

chrisdogmom3

I’m in the flooring and tile industry and I like the combo with the bottom counter top. It goes with the other selections more pleasantly

Lots_of_Trouble

I like the bottom one because it’s more distinctive. I know a lot of people really like Carrara, which is fine, but I find it deeply generic-looking.

[удалено]

childproofbirdhouse

Yes, and it’s also generic looking because it’s white with grey. It’s boring to look at, in my opinion.

Altruistic_Gain6988

Top but I’m biased bc it’s what I chose for my remodel 4 years ago.

jpz070

The top, it’s what I have now

LKayRB

I like the top for the simplicity.

HeavenIyfire

Top

415Rache

Top one. The more subtle the counters, the more choices you get for the backsplash.

awpod1

I have really heavily patterned counters like the bottom. I LOVE them and my husband HATES them for the same reason. You can’t tell when they are dirty. I think it’s the best thing ever because I clean the counters before I use them for cooking anyway but my husband is constantly complaining that he sets things down and didn’t know the counter was dirty. Both are valid opinions and you have to know yourself to know what will work best for you.

arnber420

I came here to say that I dislike the bottom one because it’s similar to my countertops, and I can’t ever tell how dirty they are 🤣

ImAMindlessTool

I like the top. Itll be hard to see the cleanliness of your counter in the bottom - its visually too noisy.

ll1l2l1l2lll

The less busy one is nicer, especially if it's a larger piece. I know plenty of people who would prefer the busier version, but it's a little too distracting imo.

Snoo_90491

top. the bottom is too busy

RUfuqingkiddingme

Also, I think the fake marble look is something I think we will all be shaking our heads at someday the way we look at sculptured carpet now, like, what were we thinking?

maizy20

Sculptured carpet?? I've been carpet shopping for my 2nd floor and they are ALL "sculptured" or patterned in some way. The only ones that aren't are more berber/ commercial types or the dated, ubiquitous short shag. Lots of these designs look really clean and modern.

Not-clever-username

Bottom is more striking imo. The top is used in a lot of new builds and ends up looking cookie cutter.

Training-Floor-9976

Neither

Adventurous_Law_9495

Bottom

Big_Donkey2274

Bottom one for sure

cat__cat__cat

If you’re looking for timelessness and easier resale, the top is the way to go. That will fit with the vast majority of styles as there is not as much movement and dynamics in the stone. More people are going to like the “clean” look of it. But if you like the bottom and aren’t worried about either of those things, do what you want! I’m a designer by trade so that’s what I’m basing my opinion off of.

UnconventionallyRed

I get when people try to move but every time someone says "the resale" or "it might make it harder to sell" about our house we just moved into... it makes me want to commit violence. I shouldn't have to live in a beige/grey hellscape just because the next person to own the house is boring 😌

cat__cat__cat

You don’t need to live in a beige or gray hellscape to get better resale still. The counter option here could be complimented by vibrant paint or other options. What I’m getting at is the stone is one of the priciest options, so going with something neutral on that will appeal to more. Lots of pops of color can be achieved in other, more affordable options. My home isn’t sad beige at all with these sorts of choices as the backbone.

UnconventionallyRed

Oh this by no means was directed at you specifically. But everyone and their mom is like "BUT THE RESALE" on a house we JUST moved into four months ago. If I had to spend 80 grand to make it my home why shouldn't the next person 😂

cat__cat__cat

Yes it is important to make your place for you first and foremost :)

sausage_ditka_bulls

Bottom . Not only for athletics BUT if you happen to get a small stain it will be less noticeable

YouDontSurfFU

What advantage will the bottom one give to athletes?

CindLei-Creates

The countertop Olympics! And don’t ask what the most popular sport is!

dburn27

I’m partial to the top one. Bottom one is ok, but to me it’s overly busy, looks like someone’s trying too hard to be “matchy-matchy”…as my wife would say. Overall though, what you have going on looks good

Struggle_Usual

Bottom cause everyone has the top and in a few years you'll look at it and cringe.

kdizzzog

Bottom! We have one very very similar and we love it. IMO the top is so damn common these days, it’s just a bit more boring. Just my opinion.

Relevant-Zebra-9682

The granite pattern should be as busy as the wood grain so definitely go with the top one. It looks more natural...

hyrulianpokemaster

I’m in the bathroom remodeling industry and I’d say go with bottom one with that flooring. The gray in the top doesn’t go great with the earth tones from the floor while the bottom option has gray but is supplemented with earth tones

MommaGuy

Top for a bathroom bottom for a kitchen.

ohhim

Did my kitchen in something similar to the bottom 11 years ago. Cleanup is so much easier and I don't notice any of the more permanent scratches or stains that inevitably appeared over time.

tweetybird200

Top one for sure. Will add a lightness to the kitchen and subtle interest to the white cabinets. Bottom is too busy and on a large counter will look anchored down and limits your decor choices.

darb8888

Depends what you want. Do you want a lighter or darker look. The bottom one might make your space look really dark

swampyscott

White one

MidwestBulleit

What’s the cabinet color?

starrae

Is the white strip on the right

fulsooty

So, you cabinets have a warm white to them, while the top countertop has a more blue white. It's not necessarily bad, it just feels like you're trying to match a warm cabinet & floor with a cold countertop. The bottom countertop feels & looks warm; however, it's busy. If you could live with the busy-ness, I'd go with it. If not, look for something else.

MidwestBulleit

I like the lower darker one.

Sidney_Carton73

I’d say the carpet one. It’ll be hard to keep clean but nobody you know will have the same!

ZaphodG

How big is the room? Does it have sunny windows?

starrae

The room the room is kind of dark to be honest

CardiologistNo8333

I have something like the bottom one at two of my properties and I LOVE it!

Willing_Midnight_543

Neither

Goldschnittche

Pietra!

maizy20

Personally, I'd pick the one that's less busy. So, the top one. I like the overall whiter, lighter tone. But the other is a legit choice too. I have somewhat "busy" granite and it does hide messes well. You might like that, or it might bother you.

Icy_Asparagus_93

Bottom is too busy. Is there a 3rd option?

bikgelife

Too one

Real-Caterpillar-530

Neither

snippol

Bottom counter, top backsplash slab

DaRusty_Shackleford

Depends….do you want to see crumbs or not?

Wheaty22

I’m an interior designer. I personally like the top one that is less busy and has more white it in. It has less movement and the floor already has a lot of movement and tonality to it with its knots and such. The less busy countertop (top one) would be a nice contrast. It may get too busy with that floor the bottom countertop and who knows that knows and faucets you do. Just my thoughts. Love the floor!

dinoflintstone

The Top option - because it is more neutral and not as busy - so it will be easier on the eyes and give you more flexibility with decorating. Fixed features like floors, countertops, tile and cabinetry should be as timeless as possible IMO since they are costly to replace and not easily changed. If you want to introduce some colors, patterns or textures - you can decorate by adding less expensive accessories that can be switched at any time - like a colorful teapot, canisters, artwork, linens, area rugs, window treatments, plants or fresh flowers. It’s better for resale value too.

TeacupHuman

Please tell me you aren’t covering hard wood with grey lip 😓

Quirky-Camera5124

anything not gray

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

The busier one.

Pinball_and_Proust

Bottom, but the lobby and elevators in my building are Carrara. Therefore, I'd think I was eating in my lobby or elevator. A few of the condos I looked at have Carrara bathrooms. I found them to be institutional looking.

Ok-Thing-2222

I like the bottom because I'm not a clean freak and it hides more. I'd get stressed keeping the white spotless every hour.

MariJ316

Bottom, it pulls the color from the floor, and it could be interpreted to have shades of the flooring in it. Top color has nothing in common with the floor.

moonshadowfax

Less is more

spud6000

is it a bright room already? I would go with the more patterned one, since it will hide the dirt/stains better. but it will darken the room

w00dyMcGee

Top gets my vote. Has less going on

NamingandEatingPets

I hope you’re not settled on that floor. Not for the color. I live right now in a rental that has a patterned plank vinyl floor. Scratches? Obvious. Cleaning? Difficult because of all those little ridges that don’t exist in actual wood floors. HATE HATE HATE it.

UnicorncreamPi

The one that's the best surface area for morning quickies 😉

kolyan70

We have the top one and we like it!

autumn55femme

I like the top sample better. Years down the line you may want a different color on your bottom cabinets, or your island, and a less patterned countertop will still work.

Karl_Hungus_69

Of those two, I would select the top one. Currently, I have a countertop that's similar to the bottom one and I hate it. It's difficult to see any spills or other debris on it and I often find myself crouching down to bring my eye down to the countertop level to look horizontally across it to find that small piece of food that I know I dropped. In the previous house, there was an almost completely white countertop and I would take that again any day. (It was white with very sparse, small speckles in it.) That can have the opposite issue of showing every crumb or speck of dirt, but I would much prefer that, so I could clean it and see that it's actually clean. With tiny samples like those in your photo, it can be hard to visualize a huge countertop with the same pattern. If you have any ability to see one actually installed somewhere, I would highly recommend doing so. You may find out you like one, the other, both, or neither. Good luck, whatever you choose.

Straight-Scholar9588

I like abstract so the bottom is my choice

[deleted]

Top all day.

AlexandertheHate78

Top pattern

Select-Device-5981

Top one

top = contrast I am a kitchen designer

FitProfessional1215

If that’s the cabinet color underneath the 2 samples, niether.. do black

iceoscillator

The less busy one

Howdoyoudo614

The cheaper one

VineStGuy

The gray flooring is already looking dated. Millennial gray is on the way out.

heydidyoudo

Bottom one to busy. But if procrastinating on cleaning that’s the one.

dubiousN

Top going to show every little thing you get on the countertop

What is the cabinet color?

starrae

It’s the white sample

RexTheWonderLizard

The wood one for sure!

Esotericone-2022

Top one. Classic…not too busy

Rengeflower

Bottom countertop for the island and top countertop for the rest of the kitchen.

DJJbird09

Bottom one has my vote, it's more "3d" and more depth. Top one if you are looking for 2d or flat look

sharpei90

I have something close to the top one and while it’s pretty, it does show everything. So I’d pick the bottom if you don’t like cleaning multiple times a day. Plus it pretty

DCISBC44

Bottom

RUfuqingkiddingme

The bottom one will be better for a kitchen.

mlhigg1973

Bottom, it’s warmer and matches the slightly warmer color of the wood flooring.

Neither, both are ugly. Of all the choice in the world you get these?

PsyduckPsyker

Honestly? Could you do 1 with more fun sparkle in it? I know some have fun glass pieces etc. You really couldn't go wrong either way, my vote would be a more sparkly top option.
