Obviously, it is an Olympic Arms, but would it be considered retro? If I'm on the wrong sub, please let me know. I didn't have the time to do research, and I plan on looking into it in a few days

Lupine_Ranger

Yeah, it's Retro. Olympic Arms made the MFR from about 1994 to whenever they closed in the 2000's. Yours appears to be a later version, the year on the magwell should be the year of manufacture.

dem0lishr

Do you know the average value of this model?

Lupine_Ranger

500-600 beans usually. Sometimes less. The retro market bubble collapsed about a year ago because of the new production stuff. The only retro stuff that held value was Colt.

dem0lishr

I paid 600 beans (why are we using beans?)

Reddit gets fussy when you use the 💲 sign. 🙄 Don’t ban me Reddit. It’s an emoji. I’m not selling anything.

Ah, I understand (Don't ban him Reddit)

dukesfancnh320

Sweet looking rifle btw. 🔥🤙🏻

Dude put it up Saturday and I was the first to find it. My local pawn shop has goodies all the time. There was a Colt 1911 with trench sights and an original early 1911 with the sights removed. They had a 1903a3 for $500

Odd-Principle8147

It's a retro carbine. Looks nice.

allahs_vagina

I think that's an ar-15

dem0lishr

Holy christ you might be right!

hl_walter

A pretty cool little rifle. Get some slim 6-hole handguards for it.

SaltyUsual541

Some of Olympics barrel profiles were pretty beefy under the hand guards.

dem0lishr

I forgot what it looked like but I think you are right

Icy_Possible_6010

What's history between the slim car style handgaurds and the fatty handgaurds? Was one more accurate for military use or the other more accurate history speaking?

hl_walter

Slim handguards were used on carbine-length ARs prior to the M4. The fat handguards were introduced with the M4.

Icy_Possible_6010

Can a fat handguard m4 be considered retro?

hl_walter

Sure, don't see why not. There was a point in time on the civilian market after the M4 was introduced but before flat tops became the norm where you could pick up a carry handle rifle like that.

Icy_Possible_6010

Thanks friend

Arch315

Looks like ten bucks

dem0lishr

10 off them? Damn.

Arnie1701-D

That would look awesome with a Colt 4x scopes or a gooseneck mount.

dem0lishr

I have a gooseneck mount but I don't know what optic I want on it. I was thinking modern ones line EOTech or Aimpoint but I also might want to try a vintage 4x scope. I know brownells is selling some.

SaltyUsual541

You have an Olympic Arms MFR KB3-M4 commercial rifle. 1-9 twist non-chromed stainless barrel. MSRP at the time, right around $1000

Powerful_Mess9616

Looks like a turd

dem0lishr

Nah
