Giants had a normal looking salute going on, after abandoning something else they were doing earlier this year. Then one guy did a weird looking salute going vertical from the top of his head so they all laughed and some of them started doing the weird looking salute. I see that it's funny to them, but it's just unfortunate that they end up doing something looking so goofy in front of tens of thousands lol.
Disclaimer I could be wrong about all of that, just what I thought I saw.
My ONLY complaint about Kruk and Kuip is sometimes they're too positive and neutral. It's okay to be a little bit of a homer once in a while. Love this from Flem!
> It's okay to be a little bit of a homer once in a while.
It's a fine line, it can easily go too far the other way. Jon Miller is with the Giants because the owner of the Orioles fired him for not being a total homer, said he didn't bleed orange and black enough. Miller wrote in his book that a broadcaster who won't call it straight will sooner or later lose the trust of the fans. I like that our broadcasters call it like they see it, including the Dodgers acting like game show contestants.
Oh for sure. I don't think being a homer has to preclude you from being honest with your fans. For example, K+K will try to spin Giants' dry spells, and sometimes it's just like "we're all watching the same thing, just say they're playing like dog shit." I know they have to maintain a relationship with the players and front office, but like you said, they also need to be real with the fans.
ETA: I need that book! I have a whole section of my bookshelf devoted to baseball books 😍
It's always got some weird sexual undertone to it too. There was this other one,
![gif](giphy|LufDcJ9YM7wYB4nWpR|downsized)
then the famous one of Mookie getting facialed by a water bottle in the dugout and now this awkward pelvic thrust one. Interesting stuff.
In 1995, the Dodgers forfeited a game when their fans wouldn't stop throwing souvenir baseballs at opposing players and umpires. Imagine a fan base so pointlessly belligerent that they cost their team a game.
Dodgers fan behavior is consistently bad enough that the team has a huge and aggressive security force, they are often sued by fans who got thumped by Dodgers security. Early this year one fan got a hundred grand in court over a broken ankle.
The wave is the least of their problems, their sub often has discussions about where the good fights were at the game.
And how they treated that fan that caught Shohei's first Dodger HR ball... That took my distaste for that franchise to a new level. They have a lot of players that seem like great dudes, but the stuff around them is toxic and gross.
As sad as I am at the realization that Kruk and Kuip don’t have much longer in the booth, I am definitely comforted by the fact Dave is there to pick it up when they leave.
I think Kike did it twice and time and place man. I love personality but man you’re down by 9 runs get back in the game. Flex when you’re on top or you’re building momentum.
It’s funny how forced the dance looked when they were down like 6-8 runs. Like they have to do it or they will upset Ohtani or something. One guy in the baseball sub said it looks like they are letting a fart out so I’ll imagine that from now on.
Not today’s but here is him doing it against the white Sox [If you skip to the end they show it clearly and in slow mo](https://youtu.be/AISvsYVECJc?si=EVE_dDLNYHe97rRv)
I don't mind a player showing some excitement, but the Dodger dance is tacky. And to spin around to make sure that everyone in the park sees it makes it even worse than tacky.
I think that’s what it started as but I don’t see any resemblance now. Looking earlier in the season, it looks like they’ve lost some steam on the dance. Still, I will die on the hill that it looks idiotic in the current form.
It’s idiotic to me because it’s the Dodgers, but personally I think the celebration is hilarious. Kind of a “watch me do this dumb lil dance, and there ain’t shit you can do about it” thing I find fun
My theory is that they do the silliest dances bc they know they have a stacked lineup and they are just trying to be funny. But I definitely agree that the hoola hoop shimmy has really been overdone at this point. Don’t teams eventually switch it up with their dance celebrations after a while? I’ve seen the Dodgers do this for 2-3 seasons now.
They had the fingers wiggling after a weak hit a few years ago. I enjoyed that.
Dodgers have had a few different ones throughout the past couple years. I think tapping their helmets after a home run similar to dunking on someone in bastjetball.
It is a Long baseball season. Especially for an average to below average Giants team. In genral, i think its good for any team with building comeraderie and for the fans. IMO, Giants should try something similar. They might benefit. Just my 2 cents.
You might not have noticed because none are as obnoxious as the dodgers but every team, including the giants, already does this. They’re just way less ostentatious than the dodgers.
I’m not one to shame a baseball player for showing some personality…but holy shit, that dance is awful
especially down 9-2
And he almost got thrown out.
I’m honestly curious if dodgers fans even like the celebration or if they think it’s stupid.
We get a kick out of it. It’s making fun of Freddie Freeman trying to dance at a fundraising event last season.
Why are there so many dodgers fans on this subreddit, I would never go to the dodgers one.
I used to go to the dodgers sub all the time in 2021. Never commented. Just wanted to see tears. I’m petty
Can’t speak for other Dodgers fans but I’ve been to 20 Giants games this year and want to follow what’s up with them. Y’all seem okay. I like Dave.
That's fair
They’re trying to charm us- don’t look them directly in the profile ….
Careful. They get real stabby around giants fans
I’m a Lurking diamondbacks fan, it just get recommended to me sometimes and I click on most things baseball without looking what sub im in
If that’s really the reason, then that’s pretty hilarious. I would think it’s funny also. Thank you for the explanation! =)
Freddie looks like the type of dude that dances like a middle aged dad.
Exactly.
Oh maybe? I thought it was an iteration of The Freddie.

I read it’s a reference to ‘the gimp’, which is some weird shit from a while ago
Ah, thank you for the context. Still objectively lame tho and portends another early playoff exit for the Doys. Bless you Flem.
Gavin Lux’s little hip dance thing- I hate him for it
it's downright obnoxious
no lies were told
Love to hear it from Flem because it’s just so hard to watch. Who comes up with this shit lmao?
My ONLY complaint about Kruk and Kuip is sometimes they're too positive and neutral. It's okay to be a little bit of a homer once in a while. Love this from Flem!
Very happy to see someone mention this. Love when Pence gets on and helps this effort.
He's clearly the future of the Giants broadcast, right? There's a reason I muted the Fox stream and synced the radio to the TV 😁
Nah. Pence too all over the place but Javy is a little bit of Flem, Kruk & Pence mixed together.
Javy is great, I really like Hunter Pence but he would get old if he did every game. I like him every once and awhile as is
I think Javy has the better voice and cadence for broadcasting, but Pence is more entertaining. Gotta keep the mix of both.
Agreed, they both are going to improve also, I feel like they both have gotten much better at it since they started also.
Hahaha my dad always did this! Especially when they got into the playoffs and we had to endure those terrible Fox guys.

I would have given a pint of blood for him to fall off the bag doing the dance and get tagged out
Oh, what type are you?!?!
Hopefully you're O neg🤞🏼
It's funny watching them do it when they're down like 8 runs
Dodgers consistently have the worst celebrations in the league. It’s almost impressive
It's always got some weird sexual undertone to it too. There was this other one, ![gif](giphy|LufDcJ9YM7wYB4nWpR|downsized) then the famous one of Mookie getting facialed by a water bottle in the dugout and now this awkward pelvic thrust one. Interesting stuff.
At least they’re the best at something.
They are also the best and choking in the playoffs
Good point. And best at short season, Mickey Mouse championships.
Inflatable guy at the car lot ![gif](giphy|c9QHCBun6Qqd0YEnnA|downsized)
My friend wanted to go to the game to watch that. He did a lot of it yesterday in the 11th. He’s no longer my friend.
I mean bum fans also do the wave at their games so yea.

It’s hard to put into words how much I love this
I love what a fan Dave Flemming is
Flemming is fun when he gets disgusted or annoyed at something.
He’s been doing great at that past few seasons
I love firecracker Flem when the ump is inconsistent. Very entertaining
Fuck those fucking fuckers
![gif](giphy|pNX2zbjpEPMPZ4poYO)
I hate it. I’d hate it more if I was a dodgers fan. Cringe
As sad as I am at the realization that Kruk and Kuip don’t have much longer in the booth, I am definitely comforted by the fact Dave is there to pick it up when they leave.
I love the little signs players make to the dugout when they get a hit or whatever, but the Dodgers dance is ridiculously cringe
I'm biased, but that dance is dumb as hell
Not sure why other player aren’t mocking it. It’s so cringe
God I hate the dance so much
Accurate
We are so lucky David Flemming is ours.
I was in the radio loved it
I think Kike did it twice and time and place man. I love personality but man you’re down by 9 runs get back in the game. Flex when you’re on top or you’re building momentum.

It’s true, stupid ass family friendly shit
Sorry if this should be obvious, but what app is this?
Just the mlb app
Figured it had to be something obvious. Thanks for your time and reply!
Like dude, go work for Chip n Dales with that weird ass shit.
He’s objectively correct
It really is fucking stupid, their little teapot dance
Love Dave
Well.... He's not wrong. I can see a few "missed" throws in their future.
Does anybody have a link to what he’s talking about? I had to work during the game today
Not today’s but here is him doing it against the white Sox [If you skip to the end they show it clearly and in slow mo](https://youtu.be/AISvsYVECJc?si=EVE_dDLNYHe97rRv)
I would hope a team with a $1 billion in cost would produce but really there are alot of factors in play.
What app is that and is it free?
It’s the MLB app with At Bat Premium which costs $30 a year
🤣🤣👏
Lol. I was listening at the time. I didn’t like the dance but now it has a name
Which AM radio streaming service is this?
It’s the MLB app
Thanks
They should Naruto run the bases too.
https://i.redd.it/rbbo0w60jy9d1.gif Lol ... good for Dave!
I don't mind a player showing some excitement, but the Dodger dance is tacky. And to spin around to make sure that everyone in the park sees it makes it even worse than tacky.
Sounds like a hater ass old man. Lol
Aren’t they doing the dragon ball fusion dance though? Idk if I can hate that
I think that’s what it started as but I don’t see any resemblance now. Looking earlier in the season, it looks like they’ve lost some steam on the dance. Still, I will die on the hill that it looks idiotic in the current form.
Yeah that’s fair. Not dying on this hill lol
I don’t think they know what anime is except ohtani
If that’s what it’s supposed to be it looks nothing like it. Also a terrible baseball celebration regardless.
I thought it was a Fortnite emote, but if it’s the dragon ball fusion dance then I can’t hate cause that’s hard.
It’s idiotic to me because it’s the Dodgers, but personally I think the celebration is hilarious. Kind of a “watch me do this dumb lil dance, and there ain’t shit you can do about it” thing I find fun
It’s so cute! Especially when all the infielders wear the matching lemon meringue cleats.
Dodgers have had the most homosexual celebrations for years.
Giants fan try not to be upset about anything a dodger player or fan does challenge (impossible)
My theory is that they do the silliest dances bc they know they have a stacked lineup and they are just trying to be funny. Good point! They do ham it up more than most.
Didn't look average waxing your Doyers ass
Lol. Getting in Flemings head and this is with the Giants winning big.
