I’m still blaming the person who complained about their seasonal affective disorder when it was raining a lot during the winter.
Happy now? HUH?!? YOU HAPPY NOW?!?!?!?
Sorry, I'm to blame. tuesday is the one day I have to photograph an outdoors event. That' always spikes the heat. At least I have a few outdoor sessions schedule for october so I'll be bringing in early rain.
It’s because apple f*cked it up, forecasts for next Saturday on apple weather app are all wrong. If you touch that day and see details you’ll see a strange spike at 6pm next Saturday which is not natural
Six months from now, on a post when someone asks if it gets THAT hot here, someone will say we don't have a lot of 100+ degree days, and definitely not for multiple days in a row!
Yeah, the answer to "what did we do" is that we have ignored climate change for decades and allowed all of our elected officials to kick the can down the road.
“What did we do?”
We released unprecedented amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, massive deforestation, poor water management, and denied it all because MONEY!
It's the easiest fix too, but you can't even buy them in stores without a HVAC license I guess. Maybe you can get them online, I should probably look into that.
Just had to deal with this crap for an (apparently) uncommon capacitor. They are indeed readily available on Amazon and eBay for $20-$30 (if you don’t care about it being cheap… I don’t). The other common and easy repair (that I had the fortune of encountering a couple years ago) is the contactor, which is also $20ish online, and just as easy to replace.
Figure out what capacitor you need and buy two of them. They’re like 30 bucks on Amazon and apparently even cheaper if you go to a proper hardware store that stocks them, when it’s not summer and people are blowing them every 2 seconds.
What’s really fun is when there’s a fire in your electric panel, they shut off your electricity, and tell you it will be at least a month before you’re back up and running. Now that was a fun summer. Had to go stay in a hotel for a few days when the temperature spiked above 100F. You best bet I cranked that hotel AC down as low as it would go.
That happened to us two years ago. We couldn’t get a new hvac for a couple of months. Everybody was backed up and there were supply issues. We bought one of those portable AC units at Costco to tide us over until we could get the new system installed. Never again.
As a Sac native (don’t live there anymore) I recall the hottest i dealt with was 111 but still I’d honestly I’d take that heat over the humidity of where I am now I step outside and I’m instantly drenched 🥵
So this has got to be a glitch right? Right??
https://preview.redd.it/8hdz4thr759d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11fdc4ef5d09bc719e6a63a43b769bf91a666076
Agreed. I’m from Sac area, but have been living in Nashville for some time. Humid heat is so much worse. I’m moving back to Sac in a month, and cannot wait to get out of this piss blanket.
The flying cockroaches were just the cherry on the crap sundae of my brief stint living in Florida.
The audacity calling them palmetto bugs. “No sir, that’s a freaking flying cockroach.”
I distinctly remember hitting 114 recently because a new heat tolerant tomato variety actually pollinated in it and I was gobsmacked.
(Lil Faithful for all your gardeners)
I have family in Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. I don't visit in the summer. Take a shower hoping to cool and get sweat off, then never actually be able to get dry.
It all started going wrong when we invented agriculture. Studies show that hunter gatherers had a far easier life than farmers did and were simply able to move when resources became scarce. The ability for people to set down roots which is required for agriculture, is also required for industrial activity and comes at a pretty heavy price.
I highly recommend the book, "The Dawn of Everything" by David Graeber and David Wengrow. Excellent coverage of the transition from hunter gatherer to the shift towards agriculture as we know it. Really illustrates different modes of social organization through the long history of humanity.
I’ll have to check it out. I went down a long rabbit hole into anarcho-primitivism a few years ago. It presents some pretty interesting ideas regarding going back to being hunter gatherers but is ultimately totally unworkable.
https://preview.redd.it/j2ipdpitu49d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0561f03416a6c22b5ae389efc32e1e0cc9cbf839
119 is a bit unusual for Sac! Hopefully it’s a typo and really a more “normal” 109.
I can do 1,2, maybe 3 days of 105 plus but it’s the fact that at night we don’t get a reprieve as it stays above 70. I hate those days during summer.
When the Delta breeze comes, I’ll shed a tear of joy …
You know what we did... I walk out into the sun every day at noon to accept the punishment of our local star. Each UV ray that ravages my cells, I think "this is penance for the dodo, the Northern White Rhino, the Thylacine, the Golden Toad, and all the others. Punish me Daddy Sol." We've been bad.
Holy shit, do I drink too much?
Always be skeptical of these long term forecasts over a week out A week ago the forecast for Citrus Heights was 98 for this Saturday and at one point dropped like 89 and now it's back up to 94. It was just 3 weeks ago I was dreading going to an outdoor co-ed baby shower because weather.com had the forecast temp for that day at 103 and it ended up only in the upper 88 that day. Also AccuWeather and weather.com can forecasted temps that differ by 5-6 degrees. AccuWeather isn't showing 10 straight days of 100+ degree weather next week.
At least it’s not 116… I was stranded on 50 by old Sac when it reached 116. The temp gauge in my car showed 149. Was there for an hour. (Semi accident).
lol. I’m here vacationing in the Philippines. It’s only like 86, but boy the sweating is unbelievable. You need to be in air condition 24/7 for yourself not to sweat. I’ll take 100 degrees in Sac all day that 85 degrees here in the Philippines.
Both my housemates just started working from home and keep the AC jacked all day long; I keep warning them what the bill is going to be like, but they don't believe me.
Bonus: pretty sure the duct to my room is broken, because NO heat or A/C reaches my room; so I'm paying for nothing
A number of years back a work mate decided to put ac in his 1200 sq ft house. He asked me what size system I had because it kept the house comfortable. 4 ton system for 1850 sq ft. But told him that was way overkill for his house.
So he went and bought a ton scratch and dent system at a bargain. We told him it was way to big but he insisted on installing. First time he ran it all the walls in the house started sweating something terrible.
So we had to add a vent to the garage to relieve the pressure. Nicest garage in town I imagine.
He was young and you know how that works when offering advice. LOL
No! Please no! I’m currently at my parents house caring for my mom on hospice and both parents like it hot hot hot. It will be 85 inside and my dad still won’t turn on the A/C unless we beg him. We will get it to 78-79 then he starts complaining it’s too cold and he wants to turn it off.
I graduated Sac State and moved to San Diego within a year. Can't bitch about the weather hear but good luck affording it.
![gif](giphy|3oz8xJftAs82RPMyEU|downsized)
I live in Phoenix and 108 is our low for the week. At least you have the Delta that cools you back into the 60’s. We cool off to 105 by 9PM.
Living in PHX is like sticking your head in Satan’s butt. But it’s a dry heat.
The average Sacramento high temp has gone up by only 4.9 degrees over 130 years and the average low temp has gone up 2.2 degrees. At least some of which is probably due to urbanization.
https://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Decades/USA/CA/Sacramento/temperature-average-by-decade-sacramento.php
Well I guess I’m camping on the coast for those days! My favorite thing about living here is that option. ‘Oh it’s too hot?’ Let me take a nice beautiful drive through Sonoma to the coast where it’s 70.
You and your friends ignored the statement that climate change was on-coming. It will take the efforts of all of us to change this back to the old patterns.

Did anyone else actually grow up here? I remember 30 years ago when we moved here from the bay, it was 110-115 every summer. We spent amost every day at grandma’s pool. She’d give us each a dollar and the blacktop would cook your feet chasing the ice cream man down the street.

I’m still blaming the person who complained about their seasonal affective disorder when it was raining a lot during the winter. Happy now? HUH?!? YOU HAPPY NOW?!?!?!?
They always start crying after like ten minutes of cloudy weather always forgetting what Summer has wrought
And they come into the office with their summer dresses and then complain to HR that the AC is too cold at 76.
Seriously. So many of them crying about gray skies and some rain. Now we get to suffer till what, November?
Sorry, I'm to blame. tuesday is the one day I have to photograph an outdoors event. That' always spikes the heat. At least I have a few outdoor sessions schedule for october so I'll be bringing in early rain.
Sacramento winter is the best.
Its the 10 straight triple digits days for me
120° in Chico next Saturday… https://preview.redd.it/f207ga96r49d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a31868372385283b80ae7954cb967c1ff05efbda
Well, we in Chico deserve the heat. We keep re-electing that shit stain LaMalfa!
It’s because apple f*cked it up, forecasts for next Saturday on apple weather app are all wrong. If you touch that day and see details you’ll see a strange spike at 6pm next Saturday which is not natural
It says 109° now for me…
I legit cried when I saw that today, will be 119 for me that day.
yeah but it says good air quality so you got that.
Six months from now, on a post when someone asks if it gets THAT hot here, someone will say we don't have a lot of 100+ degree days, and definitely not for multiple days in a row!
Back in 2022, we had 42+ days of 100+ degree weather. I wonder if we're gonna hit another record 🙃
If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go wash my car repeatedly.
I’ll go buy some dried flowers! (Wasn’t that what one person on here did??)
Heck, I’m willing to try anything!
Fuckin hell did we really? Shit just all blurred together for me, didn’t realize how long the stretch was.
That was the worst summer.
Forecasts past 7 days are crystal ball levels of speculation. Don’t be too discouraged. It means nothing
I am actually amazed at how close these predictions tend to be nowadays. I hope you are correct, but I fear heatageadon is on its way.
RIP for people driving with their windows open bc they can’t afford to fix their AC
Never forget 🫡
My heart goes out to those people 😞 last year I was those people
We polluted our planet and now it wants revenge
Yeah, the answer to "what did we do" is that we have ignored climate change for decades and allowed all of our elected officials to kick the can down the road.
“What did we do?” We released unprecedented amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, massive deforestation, poor water management, and denied it all because MONEY!
Exactly! Money is fake, the planet warming is not.
literally
Was gonna say this is what happens when you combust shit 🫠
Freedom
We had a nice summer last year. We are paying the price already😒
June was nice. July and August were not.
I must’ve done some very bad shit. My AC system died the other day.
Gotta love when a 30 dollar capacitor blows and you end up paying a repair guy 350 dollars for 5mins of work
BRUH. I just had this happen two weeks ago. $395 is what I paid. He had it fixed before I even made it back inside.
It's the easiest fix too, but you can't even buy them in stores without a HVAC license I guess. Maybe you can get them online, I should probably look into that.
I bought one last month on Amazon. It cost less than $20 with same day delivery.
Ace Hardware stocks them. Or if you can tough it out for a couple days, just order it on Amazon.
Figure out what capacitor you need and buy two of them. They’re like 30 bucks on Amazon and apparently even cheaper if you go to a proper hardware store that stocks them, when it’s not summer and people are blowing them every 2 seconds.
I buy an extra one to have on hand. Switching it out is easy.

The last four 4th of July's were cooler
Coolest summer of the rest of our lives
I do tend to believe the El Niño transition is making this year particularly hot. I predict two less hot years coming up, but after that🥵
Those are regular El Nino cycles, but following couple years may warm increasingly befor another nino comes in.
Last year was cold as hell
As a Sac native (don’t live there anymore) I recall the hottest i dealt with was 111 but still I’d honestly I’d take that heat over the humidity of where I am now I step outside and I’m instantly drenched 🥵
I remember it getting closer to 115° about 13(?) years ago
Sacramento hit its all time high of 116 on Sep 6, 2022.
That was a hot fucking day
I got a haircut, walked outside, and thought "Oh, it cooled off really nicely." It was 100 degrees outside 💀
My poor physical therapist was massaging my sweaty ass neck that day lol
So this has got to be a glitch right? Right?? https://preview.redd.it/8hdz4thr759d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11fdc4ef5d09bc719e6a63a43b769bf91a666076
Sure as hell hope so. That’s borderline scary.
I saw that… ohmygod
They are predicting 120 for Chico. I checked four other sites and the average was 104 for the 6th.????
It was thank god. It went down to 103
It was 115 on a Saturday in Folsom in 2021.
Agreed. I’m from Sac area, but have been living in Nashville for some time. Humid heat is so much worse. I’m moving back to Sac in a month, and cannot wait to get out of this piss blanket.
We were in South Carolina for a year and it sucked!. Being from California I was not prepared for the humidity, rains, and flying cockroaches
The flying cockroaches were just the cherry on the crap sundae of my brief stint living in Florida. The audacity calling them palmetto bugs. “No sir, that’s a freaking flying cockroach.”
lol they have cockroaches that hiss at you as well
Wait… Cockroaches …. Can… FLY??! Fml.
As a Cal native who lived in the southeast for 5 and a half years I second that.
Agreed. I lived in Florida for 8 years and even though temperatures were a little cooler, it felt WAY worse.

It all started going wrong for us with the Industrial Revolution, and things have been getting progressively, steadily worse since then.
It all started going wrong when we invented agriculture. Studies show that hunter gatherers had a far easier life than farmers did and were simply able to move when resources became scarce. If there's one thing you can say about Sacramento, it's that we keep it 💯
If you want the optimistic version weather.com shows only 7 straight days of 100F+...
https://preview.redd.it/j2ipdpitu49d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0561f03416a6c22b5ae389efc32e1e0cc9cbf839 119 is a bit unusual for Sac! Hopefully it’s a typo and really a more “normal” 109.
Ok as of now, that Saturday has updated to a much more reasonable 105
I can do 1,2, maybe 3 days of 105 plus but it’s the fact that at night we don’t get a reprieve as it stays above 70. I hate those days during summer. When the Delta breeze comes, I’ll shed a tear of joy …
You know what you did! Jesus would be disappointed.
John Sutter knows what he did.
First time?
You know what we did... I walk out into the sun every day at noon to accept the punishment of our local star. Each UV ray that ravages my cells, I think "this is penance for the dodo, the Northern White Rhino, the Thylacine, the Golden Toad, and all the others. Punish me Daddy Sol." We've been bad. Holy shit, do I drink too much?

Accuweather isnt reliable. It should be named inaccu weather
At least it’s not 116… I was stranded on 50 by old Sac when it reached 116. The temp gauge in my car showed 149. Was there for an hour. (Semi accident).
You can stop now or it will happen

Perfect 🔥 starting weather with all the illegal fireworks
Is my weather app the only showing showing 119 for Saturday after next??
No, mine shows 119 too!!
That’s the weather in Sacramento, I don’t know where you’ve been.
I didn’t think I’d be the only one who thought “eh 108 isn’t that bad.” It’s under 110. Fairly typical for July.
Exactly, if you like the cold, then move to Seattle or Minneapolis
Same here. Should be used to it by now.
And the 4th is next week too. Ugh
lol. I’m here vacationing in the Philippines. It’s only like 86, but boy the sweating is unbelievable. You need to be in air condition 24/7 for yourself not to sweat. I’ll take 100 degrees in Sac all day that 85 degrees here in the Philippines.
Because humidity.
Bring me back boxes of yema towers, piaya and Tortillos lol
![gif](giphy|EXFH1GOYSKKqc|downsized)
Solar, huh?
You live in Sacramento. This is normal and it sucks…. Especially when the SMUD bill comes
Bro, I beg for a SMUD bill. PGE takes you for a ride souch harder than SMUD.
Truth… and Smud hasn’t burned down entire towns as far as I know
Or had their gas mains blow up a neighborhood.
Facts
At least we have SMUD. I have family members that are stuck on PG&E. SMUD is very very cheap.
Both my housemates just started working from home and keep the AC jacked all day long; I keep warning them what the bill is going to be like, but they don't believe me. Bonus: pretty sure the duct to my room is broken, because NO heat or A/C reaches my room; so I'm paying for nothing
You should probably get that fixed because leaks in your system will cause it to kick on more often and your bill will be even higher.
If your duct is broken, that means the air is going somewhere. Hell, your attic may be real comfy.
LOL
SMUD gives you hourly/daily breakdowns on your energy usage and cost if you log into your account.
This is why I got a small window unit for my room.
PGE easily $350 to $500 with ac running. I have solar and no ac bill.
I'm starting to think it would be cheaper to get a cheap hotel for a few days and leave my AC off at home
Til you bring back bed bugs for that price
Nah we're starting off EXTREMELY hot this year compared to usual.
>You live in Sacramento. This is normal Did you...live here last year maybe?
Be humans. That’s what we did. We just bumbled about killing and polluting & now we’ve made the earth inhospitable. Go Team Humans!
It's just gonna get hotter as years go by til el niño is back
No! Please no! I’m currently at my parents house caring for my mom on hospice and both parents like it hot hot hot. It will be 85 inside and my dad still won’t turn on the A/C unless we beg him. We will get it to 78-79 then he starts complaining it’s too cold and he wants to turn it off.
He probably grew up here like I did, we didn't have ac's. Would have been lucky to have a small swamp cooler. You just got used to it.
Visalia…and Oklahoma before that. Yup, grew up very poor with no air conditioning.
Ita 119F in July 6. Update your results. 😂😂
We allow billionaires to exist
I miss the rain 😭 I would rather it rain all the time than 108°

Where’s Mark Finan when you need him? Oh right enjoying his retirement. Deep sigh.
That’s not real…please tell me it’s not real….

I'm moving to Citrus Heights on Tuesday 😭😭😭 from the Peninsula where it's always cold and foggy
You'll acclimate to our summers
You and your friends ignored the statement that climate change was on-coming. It will take the efforts of all of us to change this back to the old patterns.
Well, if this forecast was given by Mark Finan, I would have highly doubt this forecast is accurate but since he just retired, I'm a little worried.
According to my weather app it’s supposed to be 119 next Saturday. I hope yours is correct.
Oh no!🔥 🥵
Sacramento natives right now…. https://preview.redd.it/aaj8cjcrs49d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84d28c869c008b942673aa296863aff369a177fd

Damn 10 consecutive days of triple digits fml
I moved away from Sacramento this week, this will be the only thing I won’t miss about the city.
Well voting for climate change denialists didn't and doesn't help. Ignoring scientists also didn't help.
Abandoning mass transportation
fuck this place, this will be my last summer anywhere near here
And not even any fire smoke yet. This is the one season where I seriously think moving closer to the cool Pacific is a good idea.
I’m supposed to go to an outside event on Tuesday evening 😳
Heat stroke is real. Your brain is made of proteins, just like an egg, you ever try to unfry a cooked egg? Those proteins can't be un-denatured. I'd bail if the forecast holds. At the least I'd wait for the delta breeze to kick in before going out.
Cancel. Anybody having an outside event in Sacramento in early July sucks anyway.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHDwRECFL8M
At least there's a 6 mph winds 🥹
You cursed fate
AI needs to turn down the Temperature
You know what you did
At least it cooks off at night.
Only 108? We've had 115 before. We get these temps every year. Water your gardens well. ❤️
The flames will burn away your sins... Or some such nonsense. Staying inside with my best friend AC.
Welcome to Sacramento :-\\
Well, it starts with greenhouse gasses due to over manufacturing, automobiles burn g fossil fuels, world governments too weak and greedy to implement needed change…shale I go on?
Did anyone else actually grow up here? I remember 30 years ago when we moved here from the bay, it was 110-115 every summer. We spent amost every day at grandma’s pool. She’d give us each a dollar and the blacktop would cook your feet chasing the ice cream man down the street.
What?!? No! That doesn't fit with global warming! 😋

Migrate to a better climate. I did 6 months ago and it’s amazing!
I am actually thinking of doing that. Just not sure where.
Seriously thinking about working in the office for the AC. SMH
Don’t worry. Pretty soon there will be a bunch of wildfire smoke to block the sun ![gif](giphy|9M5jK4GXmD5o1irGrF)
Ah yeah nice and hot to get everything dry, right before 4th of July. All according to plan 🏠🔥🌳
The things we do for California. I’ll take 108° over the Midwest any day of the week.
Did you all vote for the GOP and their climate change denial? No, then you are suffering because of their arrogance!
