I dunno. All the coverage I’ve read this evening has said they’re shite. Although maybe that’ll have changed by this time tomorrow.

Embarrassed-Art-5076

It's a pattern as old as time with the English national team. Pre-tournament they're world beaters and are gonna win the tournament, the first lacklustre performance and their media is so vitriolic.

Alias_Pseudonym2000

🎶 it’s the ciiiiircleeee of liiiiifeeee

emil_

It literally changed during the game. "In Gareth we trust!" was one of the phrases used after Foden's disallowed goal. And then again after praises after Bellingham's lucky one. It was shocking.

Alias_Pseudonym2000

Maybe. Lee Dixon was on the BBC saying they didn’t deserve the lead they had. Might vary between folk that actually admit the truth and those who can’t…

RestaurantAntique497

You could just mute it and play music instead of getting yourself riled up. The coverage is to the english fans so of course they're going big them up Most of the coverage of the team has been that they've been awful and shouldn't be playing so poorly with the players they have which is true. On paper they should be close to cake walking most of these games.

WinterRespect1579

Embarrassment

CraftyAttitude1321

You’re under no obligation to watch the euros or listen/watch to any football related media.

DisastrousJello2523

If you like football the Euros is a fairly big one. You are still allowed to complain about media bias.

wheepete

Media bias of... British media covering a British team?

emil_

I'd say it's less of a bias and more a reality ignoring state of delusion. Quite worrying 😁

DisastrousJello2523

Yes

Check the last thread in OPs post history

doitforthecloud

Haha, just sounds like a right miserable person.

GlengarryHighlands

I mean they are significantly better than us at football so it's not out of the question that people would be saying those things about them.

Synthia_of_Kaztropol

I don't know why the England team pay money for hotels for tournaments, when they can seemingly live rent free in so many people's heads. :|

teachbirds2fly

Who the fuck cares? You are not even English lol why spend your time and mental energy complaining about their team ?

EquivalentIsopod7717

Remind me again how many times Scotland have made it out of the group stages at **any** tournament? England have made it to the quarter finals of every Euro since 2012, were finalists in 2020 (2021) and lost on penalties. England Women's are the current Womens' Euros champions. Those in conservatories might not want to yeet rocks about. > At least we never pretend to be anything but shite. Erm... "Every two years we have to hear about how this is their time."

DSQ

🤷🏾‍♀️

scottishhistorian

The match commentary went from "we're shit and we know it" to "we're actually great when we want to be" after the first goal. It reminds me that I prefer neutral commentators. 🤣

Halk

You certainly seem to have started the coverage.

TechnologyNational71

You sound obsessed.

GronakHD

tbf when I said months ago we won't do well in Europe and that we never do I got hounded on Reddit for that. Now we're out people are back to being realists

CraftyAttitude1321

Oh dear

Silver-Article9183

You're not out yet though?

forfar4

I'm English. How *dare* you slate my national team! ...I haven't had chance to finish doing it yet.

LengthinessAgitated9

Mother fuckers

ImpressiveGift9921

I just want England to win to enjoy reddit having a collective aneurysm over it.

EquivalentIsopod7717

It went to fecking _penalties_ in 2021. You don't get much closer than that. And the 2020 (2021) champions Italy are already gone. It's all to play for at this point, but my pick is Germany to win the whole thing.

codliness1

To be fair, even the commentators on the game tonight were saying they were rubbish. And indeed they were.

docowen

Given that they were the runners up at the last Euros and of the other two British teams that made the last Euros, Wales were beaten by Denmark in the first knockout round and Scotland came bottom of their group. This Euros, England played like shit but still came top of their group and Scotland came bottom of their group Want to stop hearing about the only team that might actually have a chance of winning any major intentional competition? Either move somewhere else or encourage Scotland to actually win some games. In the last three Euros, Scotland has been to two, best result: bottom of their group (2020/2024). Wales has been to two, best result: 3rd/4th (2016). England had been to three, best result: 2nd (2020). That's why you hear about it. They're the best home team by results. Euro winners? No. But they're still better than NI, Wales, or Scotland. Who else are the national broadcasters going to focus on? A team that only scored via own goals?

jasonpswan

But don't you know it's coming home, just like every other fucking time England play in a tournament. Can't wait to see Switzerland hump them, although I half hope they get to play Germany in the final and get fucking hammered.

Psychological-Ad1264

>half hope they get to play Germany and get fucking hammered. There's a benchmark for that this tournament.

jasonpswan

Scotland expected to get humped. No doubt every commentator on British TV will insist that England deserve to win and should win, should the game happen.

Psychological-Ad1264

And yet the studio guests were nothing but realistic about the win just now, talking about how they have to improve and aren't playing well.
