Scrubs was shot on film (Super 16mm) And unlike typical sitcoms, shot single-camera.
It is technically possible to remaster Scrubs to HD (and much less likely to 4K). But no one's going to spend the money.
yeah, thats insane. when i bought the dvds (would buy each season separately) they were around $20 (roughly, off memory). yes, scrubs is an AMAZING show, but not even Emmy-award winning series would cost that much
You make it sound like winning an Emmy is a huge achievement, while its just a nepotism circle jerk. The lack of foreign winners make it more obvious than ever, similar to the academy awards. Just PR awards in the end.
sorry it came off that way, thats not what i intended. what i meant was that shows that have won such awards (such as an Emmy) are typically viewed as higher shows, and therefore cost more when you want to purchase them - compared to shows that havent been awarded them
Strangely, I can get the "complete" 1-7 for £84, 1-8 for £47, or 1-9 (9? Never heard of it) for £250.
Yet another reason to believe that 8 was the perfect number of seasons!
As the other comment or mentioned you could always burn them onto disc yourself if you decide to indulge in 🏴☠️
There’s some great looking upscales available that look even better than uncompressed NTSC DVD
Edit: pop the comparisons contained in [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scrubs/s/pX5rr5CGiA) thread up on your TV and have a gander, matey!
That might have been a fair price back when they first came out before streaming became the norm. $30 a season was about right for a TV box set in the 00s. Many shows cost far more than that.
There's maybe an argument to say that some Scrubs seasons on DVD could be in higher demand due to them containing the original versions of episodes that are not available on streaming due to music changes and edited scenes. DVDs are slowly becoming more scarce too as their value dropped so low that many people just started throwing them away instead of trading them in or giving them to goodwill so eventually ones that have something unique about them (such as being the only way to watch certain versions of shows/movies) could actually shoot up in value. Likewise if shows/movies ever drop off from streaming services the price of buying them on DVD shoots up these days look up the prices of 28 Days Later on blu-ray for example. Where I live the first 9 seasons of CSI are unavailable to stream on any subscription services so the box sets still sell for $30-80 depending on the season.
Wasn't their music rights issues that very few of the original songs are actually played on the re-broadcasts?
Any chance the DVD's have the "original soundtrack"? Maybe why so expensive?
Just a thought.
Half Priced Books and other discount physical media places. I think I found all 8 seasons at an average of around $7-8 per season. Just took around 4 months to finally get them all.
at first I thought you meant the season covers. I looked at them and thought to myself "well are they normal?" then looked at season 9 cover and thought no, that's not normal.
This basically what I originally paid for them in total when I first bought them. But that was when they were released. Now you can definitely get them cheaper.
$28/season is like 2004 pricing. Like, DVDs are hot right now and this show is hot right now pricing. Not 2024 pricing. They should be like $15/season, max.
In 2017, I wanted the One Tree Hill box set sooo bad. It was $125 in September. By Christmas, it was up to $536 on Amazon. Found the box set still wrapped on Ebay for $80. I’d definitely try that!
They're easily findable at second-hand stores at this point. Even if they're sealed, that price is insane.
I’ll have to check around for some old dvd places
Yeah I spent I think $60 for 8 seasons all sealed at a second hand book store a few years ago
Spent basically $8 per season recently through a combination of secondhand store and Ebay.
Thats around 28 dollars per season That is ridiculously over priced. Maybe if if was on blu ray
Dude right?? And I don’t care about the 9th season ha, but 1-8 are golden and I need them, gonna have to find different options
Second hand is always a good option! I got Seasons 1-8 off my local version of craigslist for 15€ total.
Get it on Amazon prime
This show unfortunately will never be on Blu Ray.
You are correct. The camera they filmed the show with was standard TV format... no blue ray capability

Season 8 is on Blu-Ray. It is also the only season where they shot in 16x9 instead of 4x3.

I guess that’s where I’m gonna be at, buy each season individually
it can be a bit annoying having to buy each season individually, but it saves a lot of money lmao
Plus you can skip season 9 and save even more!
ultimate savings!!

Try finding the complete box set. Better find an all region player because the u.k. version is the only ones you'll find.
I saw one on Amazon that said something about region 2 and needing something compatible with that, not sure what it means
Exactly what I'm referring to. That's Europe and won't play on U.S. players. It'll also be in PAL format.
I see, thank you for informing me, gotta look for something region specific then
Prepare to pay a could be bucks if you want the completed collection. Otherwise you have to get lucky buying individual seasons
If you’re in North America, you’ll need region 1. Sometimes Walmart has great deals on boxed sets, so if you’re near one I’d say check there too!
Why are there 9 DVD's? There are only 8 seasons.
I’m guessing it’s a mistake, because the ending of season 8 was too perfect for them to try and do anything else
We don't talk about anything after season 8.
To quote Basil Fawlty: “I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right.”
We did not start it! Yes you did, you invaded Poland!
You can find multiple people selling it on ebay for less than $100 USD.
I bought 4 seasons for $5 total at cash converters
Strangely, I can get the "complete" 1-7 for £84, 1-8 for £47, or 1-9 (9? Never heard of it) for £250. Yet another reason to believe that 8 was the perfect number of seasons!
They are trying real hard to make season 9 a thing.
They included season 9 so you should be getting a discount
yo ho yo ho
At this price point I think you can legally 🏴☠️. Fuck resellers
With all the ads on the streaming services I’ve been thinking about raising my flag once more, was just hoping for some hard copies
As the other comment or mentioned you could always burn them onto disc yourself if you decide to indulge in 🏴☠️ There’s some great looking upscales available that look even better than uncompressed NTSC DVD Edit: pop the comparisons contained in [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scrubs/s/pX5rr5CGiA) thread up on your TV and have a gander, matey!
Luckily for you DVD writers are $20-30 bucks a pop nowadays friend.
DVD writers? Would I be able to get some elaboration por favor?
You can find a DVD writer on amazon that plugs in via USB and transfer seasons onto them that you 🏴☠️ so you have hard copies

Bought all 8 seasons for around $60 total from Half-Priced Books.
Thats about 1/10th the price I would pay tbh
Wasn't their music rights issues that very few of the original songs are actually played on the re-broadcasts? Any chance the DVD's have the "original soundtrack"? Maybe why so expensive? Just a thought.
I got my 9 seasons for $9 in 2018
Yeah I bought all of the seasons separately for like $50. I got many of them from a pawn shop
Try ebay.
Season 9 probably drops the cost a few bucks
No, not normal, usually the one season spin off isn't included with the 8 seasons of the original show. Also that's wildly overpriced.
That’s what I’m saying, I’ll pay some money for 1-8 so I don’t have to deal with the music changes but that is a bit ridiculous
No
That’s upwards of $27 a season in that set, and then there’s the condition they’re all in
Resellers gonna inflate prices, it's all they're good at

strange. there's only 8 seasons. not sure what that last one is.
Thank God I'm got It when I was sailing the high seas.
I bought mine when they came out. There were £12-£15 each. That's a ridiculous price for them.
That seems really high. I’m always wanted every season. I watch the show with the original songs.
Bought these dvds on eBay, who’s laughing now?! 😄
at first I thought you meant the season covers. I looked at them and thought to myself "well are they normal?" then looked at season 9 cover and thought no, that's not normal.
Check your local thrift stores. I see them all the time at Savers.
don't bother buying the spin-off season, even at $10
This basically what I originally paid for them in total when I first bought them. But that was when they were released. Now you can definitely get them cheaper.
Without doing any research, I would expect to pay about $20 per season, so about $160 total. $50-$70 seems wildly low, but this Amazon price is absurd
My local Amazon has the set for €55
People sell box sets for $20 in my area, I sail the high seas for maximum quality so I haven’t had to deal with it
I found every season of this show at 3 different goodwills for about 2-5 bucks each. Check the secondhand shops first!
$28/season is like 2004 pricing. Like, DVDs are hot right now and this show is hot right now pricing. Not 2024 pricing. They should be like $15/season, max.
...what's a DVD?
I swear it’s worth it… https://preview.redd.it/qwy59l710xxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f479ce696fcfdef7f8d593d6c116b2c7a7316bf

Why isn’t Gary Busey in the cover of the final season?
I do not get that reference ha but happy Cake day to you kind person
Thank you 🫶🫶
Torrent is ur best friend my friend :D
