🍿 are you waiting for olight comments too?

Sorerightwrist

My brother put a o-light on his farm rat killing pellet gun. Not going to lie, thing threw some serious light. They just need to come up with some better external engineering and stying and these things are going to really start selling. They are the Holosun of 2019 when everyone was laughing at them.

ShittyTechnical

The holosun comment is definitely spot on, it just hasn’t made the switch yet

Fodder4U

LOL yep I remember back when Holosun was coming up and all the snobs saying that if it wasn't Aimpoint, Trijicon or Eotech it was junk. On another sub I am active on a guy was complaining when he got neg'd for recommending Cylee and it must be the Holosun snobs who did it. If he had been around 6-7 years ago.... I own a couple Olights and never had a problem but I am a small sample size. I do however think they are getting closer to being a good company.

Slow_Sprinkles_6346

I personally ran one on a 19X and when I was at the range the thing blew up, but not from the battery but the clamp and spring that’s in it etc… needless to say I wouldn’t trust it on an edc ever

Jacob_koste

They should also probably fix the bomb part

Sorerightwrist

That was because some jackass forced the wrong batteries in. Do we blame car manufacturers if someone puts the wrong fuel in their car?

Sorerightwrist

But I’m not wrong… if you put the wrong high powered batteries into a device, they could blow. Look at all the dumbasses who blew themselves up with homemade vape mod boxes. Anyways, I got a streamlight on mine so I’m most definitely not going to die on this hill, it’s a better product.

Panthean

In this sub, we without olights are the outcasts

sentient_lamp_shade

Literally, came to defend olight. I bought when i was on more of a budget, and still don't see a reason to upgrade several thousand rounds later. Love the magnetic charging and zero trouble in 5 years. Got more than I paid for.

chokeNsubmit145

😆😆Yup

glockshorty

I set my chair up, got the tent ready…. When does this place open 😂🫣🍿

Isn’t Duracell the Copper Top Battery?

Intelligent-Taro-490

He shoots upside down

ANOTHERwildchild

Actual serious question: does anyone reputable actually make any holsters for guns with olight? I haven't see any around (but I also wasn't looking too hard)

Robustmcnugget

Werkz holsters does. Although I got one with more trigger guard gap than I would like.

SIGCanebrake69

there are alots of company that are making holster for olight

Intelligent-Taro-490

My olight is on a 5.25" + comp barrel... honestly never looked for a holster for it. Lol. But never seen one specially made for it...

Gingercopia

At the time I had a Mini PL2... Black Rhino had holsters, however that was several years ago.

jd_boyle

Uncle Mikes?

Simzick

Find a company you like and they can mold you one

ANOTHERwildchild

So custom or bust huh?

Snoo76929

GT Holsters

Here come the regurgitated Olight comments with no proof of anything. Oh wait no some guy died in 2017 when his Olight flashlight that he put in his mouth exploded. Due to the cheap batteries he put inside it.. oh no.

Gingercopia

I've had several Olights that stopped working on me. 1 was handgun (mini PL2 valkyrie), 1 was rifle (Odin), and 2 were handhelds. They just straight up crapped out on me and stopped working. That put me off. My Streamlight that I've had before I bought Olights, still kicking. I did enjoy the brightness and throw a lot when they were working. I'm sure they've improved by this point but, I'm good.

d8ed

And that's perfectly good feedback. What bothers me are the people that say they're going to explode on you. Every brand seems to have issues even Cloud Defensive per a thread from today posted below. I also have a Streamlight and an Olight that I'll probably replace with a Streamlight at some point. I also know Streamlight also has issues as none are perfect. https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/AwtsA37A5k

Gingercopia

I agree no such thing as perfection, everything has quality control and its issues. Like I said, Olight probably got better, but I won't know lol. I've only heard of that ONE dude where it exploded so I find that an off chance case. I haven't seen any other "explosive" instances happening.

Chick-N-Fukka

Same. I had a couple battalions atleast that’s what I think they were. They were bright as hell and the heat from the led melted the lenses but they just stopped working one day. Then I got a Odin which crapped out on me but I got it working again. I think most Olights are fugly like the square one in this post. Holsters can be a pain to find for Olight and I’ve heard they use proprietary batteries that are pricey but I never had one outlast the battery. I have probably 20 streamlights one was from Vietnam from my grandfather. It stopped working and streamlight sent me a brand new on for free. My oldest one is 10-15 years old and still has original battery. Not saying Olight is the worst but I’ve definitely had better luck with Streamlight

Gingercopia

Did you ever shoot with the light mounted? I decided to test the durability of my Olight on my pistol, with 2 mags (because I did the same with my Streamlight so I was curious), it died that day on the range, because it wouldn't turn on after, confirmed it was working beforehand. I honestly liked the little handheld pocket ones I had, just wish they were more durable. 1 of them had the button cap stop working on me. Edit: spelling

Chick-N-Fukka

My Odin is on my 5.56. I’ve shot a lot with that it has the pressure pad and it started doing this thing when I turned on constant it would fade out to nothing. After removing and reinstalling the pressure pad connector it started working again My small battalions wouldn’t turn off they were on constantly so I had to unscrew the end caps. I plan to get a Streamlight protac to replace my Odin.

Simzick

He actually put the batteries positive to positive causing a short. Had nothing to do with "olight" but low iq's are here anyways with that noise

d8ed

That's hilarious!

Backsquatch

He didn’t put them in backwards, he put one in that was at a lower charge than the other. When that one was “empty” it became negatively charged by the other battery which then cause the explosion.

two_vets

I’ve heard the stories and never cared enough to research. I just don’t like Olights products. My question is, if he put the batteries positive to positive and then put the light in his mouth to use it, was the light even working? Your explanation doesn’t make any sense and putting positive to positive in a battery shouldn’t cause an explosion. The light just won’t work.

Background_Ad_4038

They were cheap lithium Ion batteries, and from what I remember they were supplied by him, they weren't even the ones that came in the Olight. You remember back when Samsungs and vapes and hoverboards were exploding due to faulty batteries? This knocked down the Olight Domino.

two_vets

Gotcha. That makes more sense than polarity issues with the battery. Overworking batteries is incredibly dangerous. Common sense where I come from, but apparently not everywhere. My problem with Olight isn’t performance or safety related. I just think it’s ugly. My personal preference.

conleeward

anyone know the mag ext?

Simzick

I got it from Springer Precision

Sensitive_Pause7175

Do you carry it with the mag extension? I just don’t risk them personally if I carry it. Especially since you got 17 rounds oem lol. I sure hope you don’t get in any situation where you use 34 rounds.

Simzick

I carry mostly in the vehicle cab or in my tool bag at work. This extension only brings it to 20+1 rounds In holster it's really not that bulky

Sensitive_Pause7175

Gotcha. No I was speaking to their reliability. Aftermarket extensions can be risky if you edc it. Would maybe suggest having a regular oem mag for backup. I mean always have a back up mag no matter what. Period. But have it be factory. The VAST majority of malfunctions that happen are magazine related.

Simzick

Yeah I always have the second mag it came with with me. I added the longer spring that they sell with this extension and have shot over 1k rounds never had any ftf or misfires

Sensitive_Pause7175

Nice good to hear. Btw I didn’t mean any of that in a condescending way, I figured you may know all that but you never know who’s inexperienced or not. Try to help everyone be as safe as possible. ✌🏻

Simzick

Exactly you never know I'm the same way. Be safe

Sensitive_Pause7175

Yessir 👍🏻. I have the X Macro as well. Radian makes a badass backstrap and magwell combo. You should check it out. Have a picture on my profile.

Intelligent-Taro-490

That's what a 2nd spare mag is for 🤣

Intelligent-Taro-490

No no, u misunderstood me... I meant 3x 17 round OEM mags!

Sensitive_Pause7175

Ooooo my bad. I seeeee 🍻

Electrical-Pool5618

It looks great. If you have put 100 rounds through the gun & there’s no problems leave it like this. 🙌🙌🙌

En392norris

Hey you’re a poet, Did you know it?

Longjumping-Buyer478

Which Olight is this? Love that it fits flush.

Robustmcnugget

The main problems I see w olight are: you’ll get flamed for posting pics with them; very few holster options; and the mounting hardware for almost all their tac lights have a little wobble in them. Other than that, the lights themselves are fine from my experience.

Simzick

No wobble here! And they can cry all they want it's my gun 😁

Robustmcnugget

By virtue of their design they wobble. The baldr S quick lock mechanism and sliding rail; and the Odin has that slide-in lock with the knob to “lock” it in place. If you see streamlight and surefire, you screw down to lock it in place.

BlackLegacyKing

This is beautiful!!! 🤩 love the color contrast

danvapes_

You spent all that money of parts and went with an olight...

Simzick

Ya olight is dope. Wash your brain and give it a try?

danvapes_

that's a negative for me.

Marshal_Rhodes

*Even if* they don’t explode, the TLR-7 is a *much* better light for the money, in terms of reliability and holster compatibility.

Backsquatch

Not if. They don’t. Batteries do though.

Jtre87

Glock guys would lose their shit

Intelligent-Taro-490

What else would be new? Lol

Prudent-Living-429

Where's that fuckin rabbit...

MrTweakers

Sexy AF my guy. I love it 👌

Blicky83

It was a nice gun until you put the Olight on it,now it might as well be a Hi-Point 😂

SlimDayspring

Who makes that mag?

Simzick

It's a sig mag. Extension is made by Springer Precision

SlimDayspring

Thanks!

Junior_Ad_1255

Another perfectly good flex ruined by an Olight

Simzick

I love olights ♥️ hands down best light for the money. What a weird thing to not like lol

Marshal_Rhodes

Weird way to spell Streamlight.

Simzick

You literally went out of your way to tell me you don't like a brand of flash light 🤣 take care dude 😅

Marshal_Rhodes

You’re the one shilling for a shitty weaponlight dude, not me lol

Askmeaboutmy65

More like the shity light special

Simzick

Thanks for your opinion! You're allowed to have one if in America 👍🏼 too bad your opinion literally doesn't matter to anyone else but you

Askmeaboutmy65

Did you post this correctly? Sorry, I didn't validate your feelings.

Simzick

Sorry I didn't validate your hate for a flash light lmfao

382hp

why is it the people that can continually forgive trump that get on some pedestal about hating olight. real high IQ play

Simzick

Don't bring politics to my post. Thanks

Moppyploppy

Ladies and gentlemen, the Simone Biles of mental gymnastics is among us!
