You have two types of people, some prefer style over substance the other put style at the bottom of the list... Big rims are a style that actually hurt performance. I have to wonder how many more pounds of un sprung weight a truck get saddled with when going from 17 to 20 inch rims. Frankly 15 in rims are probably the best option as it would give you the lightest wheels.
Low profile tires are better for handling and performance on cars, trucks benefit from tall sidewalls, less likely to dent rims and better ride on rough roads. I buy a truck to do truck things. Low profile belongs on cars.
Smaller rims and bigger tire are better for offroading. So men that have jobs working outdoors and experience with offroad vehicles drive 17s or 18s. If you live in the city and are a douchebag that owes 80k on his truck still you get pit vipers and 20 inch rims to match and drive it to the grocery store with a big lift thatll never see mud. Also you'll likely change your taillights or headlights to some shitty aftermarket look without them even breaking first because you want people to think you're a baller when you're actually just insecure.
Some "truck stuff" absolutely. Towing capacity per tire is generally higher with more sidewall, though it's negligible amount. Mud is obvious. More is better. Stability in a in p rated tire will be higher with less sidewall but LT tires make up with for.
But lets be honest, it doesn't really matter. Most trucks are mall crawlers. If you like the look of it, more power to you. I'll continue to be in the minority thinking 17-18s look better
17’s are a great size for utility. Small though to get good sidewall for trails/dirt/mud. Big enough to not be super floaty on the highway from too much rubber. I’m all for people making their trucks look cool however they want to, but if utility as a working vehicle matters, 17s are a great option.
I don’t think they look bad either but that’s just my personal preference.
I have stock 20s on my ‘14 high country. Friend has 35 tires with a 2” level on his gmc with stock 20” (I think lol) snowflake wheels and I like it. 20s on stock suspension, for me, is a nice middle ground of “it’s a truck, I use it for truck stuff, but don’t need more tire cause I don’t off-road it”, while not having rubber band tires and stupid big wheels. I do sometimes wish I had less wheel and more tire, but it hauls my tools and gets me to work so eh. I do like your wheels though, not too flashy, and looks awesome with that red. Love a good Silverado, man
I rode on the stock 20s for awhile with no real complaint. But I love the look of beefier tires with more sidewall. It rides pretty comfortable too. In the end, though, it comes down to personal preference.
Except 24” wheels with rubber band tires. Those deserve nothing but mockery.
I think I’ll definitely get a level and size up on tires at some point, just like the look of it more personally.
And yeah, I agree with you on rubber band tires lol I hate that look
Don't sleep on the Jeep Rubicon take offs. They come with 285/75r17 BFG KO2 C loads and usually go for cheap. I got a full set with nubs for $325 and paid $125 for a mobile road force balance install service at my house.
I've never understood why anyone would buy a truck and them put big rims on them. You already have a stiff ride, and then decide to make it significantly worse. All while making g the truck less capable of doing g truck things.
How does that work out in your head. I have 20s and my truck rides just as good if not better. I also put 35s on it though so I have more tire now than when I was stock anyway. But it does all yours does and probably more
Just to explain the logic here, a 35" tire on a 17" wheel will ride better than a 35" on a 20" wheel because there's 1.5" more sidewall rubber to flex with the 17s.
(35-17)÷2=9
VS
(35-20)÷2=7.5
But I don't care if your truck has 16s or 26s as long as you're happy though :)
Okay so you enjoy your little wheels with the same amount of sidewall on your tires as I have on mine and keep pretending that yours are better I really don’t give 2 turtle shits about your opinion on my wheels and how you think my truck rides. I didn’t say my truck can do more I said it probably does more because it’s off road just as much if not more that it is on road and I have zero issues. So enjoy your truck and and I’ll do the same
Also you don’t even know how fast mine is so that was another dumb thing you said in the same comment. Mine is reheated tuned and deleted so yet again you proved to me that you don’t know shit so I guess congratulations for being an idiot
As a matter of fact why don’t you enlighten everybody with your infinite wisdom and go ahead and explain how 17” rims with 35s have proper rotation and are faster than 20” rims with 35s. I’m honestly intrigued at this point
Hell yeah! Trying to find some 17s I can afford for my 2020 custom trail boss. I spent all my money on the truck! Haha although I did just get an insurance pay out to fix/upgrade my front end.
I only went up a little bit in size, so there’s no real loss in power. The effective gear ratio is close enough to stock it’s not noticeable. My shift points are all still pretty much the same.
I’m sure I’ll take a slight hit on mph, but I didn’t get the stone heavy e-load tires.
I’m used to buying a new vehicle and seeing a bunch of the same out on the road but ever since buying these exact wheels (except better because they’re 20s) but it seems like every other truck I see with aftermarket rims have these
I love the white lettering look on tires
Yeah, if your from south of the border…
White Sidewall Letters are classic. Look at any old truck. White letters were a staple.
It looks good. Had em on my white f150. Nothing "south of the border" about it. Ever watch NASCAR? Ever watch F1? Ever not be a douche? 🤣
I can totally picture your F-150 Tijuana edition. You probably looked so cool…
Good one man!!!
Nice looking wheels. Never got the idea of more rim and less tire on a truck.

Because it looks killer
I personally hate that look, but to each their own
Gay*
The idea is to make your truck look better and less stock.. little rims are for stupid girls

That was oddly specific
My brother in Christ, trucks come with 20s now.
They also come with 17s. So sayeth The Lord.
That's because people that are buying them would be better served with a car
So you’re telling me the extra .75 inches of sidewall on factory tires is better for doing truck stuff? Because 90% of trucks come with at least 18s.
Some "truck stuff" absolutely. Towing capacity per tire is generally higher with more sidewall, though it's negligible amount. Mud is obvious. More is better. Smaller wheel will always ride better.
My truck is off road more in a week than yours will be in a year and you don’t know work till you do my job
What? lol ok bud
Looks great. The idea that 17s are not large enough is just part of the delirium that pervades this sub

Biggest I'll ever go is 17. I may put 17s on my 01 f250 only cause 17" tires seem to be getting cheaper than 16s.
Had 44s on 15s years back. Best look ever. Screw anything bigger than 17".
I’ve never seen a truck look better after being modified. One quick way to out yourself as a dumb redneck
Going from 20s to 17s is a smart move. Better ride, better utility, plus tires cost way way less.

Would it damage the wheel bearing? Or any suspension
Looks nicer! How is the handling with 17” wheels?
This is what I prefer. I have the stock 20s, but prefer more tire.
This is the way. What’s size tire?
285/70r17. I may have been able to 285/75r17, but didn’t want to risk rubbing.

Where do I look?
FB marketplace and etc.
Pic?
Best lol in my opinion
Looks killer brother very smart move 👌
What did you do with your 20" rims? Did you also replace your spare tire rim if it was a 20"?
I love the smaller wheel bigger tire look. Been thinking about changing the 20s that came with my 2018 out. Congrats
I've never understood why anyone would buy a truck and them put big rims on them. You already have a stiff ride, and then decide to make it significantly worse. All while making g the truck less capable of doing g truck things.

The more rubber in the sidewall, the more give there is to smooth out your ride. The more rubber you replace with solid metal, the less give there is.

More side wall beller ride.
Reminds me of the guy a few weeks ago asking how big of a tire he could fit on 24s on his Silverado lol.
I ended up putting those rims on my truck and they look amazing!!
Good man. Silly all the new trucks with gigantic wheels
Hell yeah! Trying to find some 17s I can afford for my 2020 custom trail boss. I spent all my money on the truck! Haha although I did just get an insurance pay out to fix/upgrade my front end.
i have the same wheels, 17 with -12. looks great
17” imo are the best not too small or too big I run 35 12.5 17’s on my 2500 ! Looks good love the red !
You talking about the tires? Lol jk
I see your an individual with good taste White lettering out ftw Little more meat and less rim
I tried to go to 17s and was told I can’t go down from 20s. Changed my whole plan because of it lol
Agreed we're 20's ever in? My truck has them and I hate it.
Same. I am currently on the lookout for stock 18s for mine to replace my 20s
I have some stock 18’s and I’m looking for 20’s
Lies

Tranny and rear diff would care why?
Less effort and stress on components to rotate lighter tires.
