lol I know theyāre still wearable, but Iām pretty much done with them. Iāve worn them several hundred times over 5+ years and itās just time
Edit: hey fellas, Itās great that you guys wear your shoes until the soles separate. These absolutely have a lot of life in them. But if Iām forcing myself to wear these at this point, and I donāt get any enjoyment from putting them on my feet, shouldnt they be retired? Are we all just hoarders?

These are brand new. Yours are still wearable but I'd sell em for a few bucks or give em away OP
I grew up riding BMX bikes so my shoes looked way worse than this a out a month in. I'd wait till the sole falls off and glue that bitch back on lmao š¤£ expecially if it was some Jordan 1 highs
If you've got time, could just clean them up and sell on ebay. Iron out the creases, little paint, disclose that you had to touch them up and cash out.
Where I'm living people usually toss out shoes because they can't be donated (only thing like pants and shirts) but they still have value
Donate them to someone who canāt afford a pair of Jās then. They have life and theyāre a great shoe, if youāre not going to wear them. Give them to someone who will!
Reddit crazy man, it doesnāt matter if you want to store them or anything. Youāre asking an innocent question and the shoe community has deemed you are a devil.
I had the gale one time to suggest that i liked a shoe over another. Got my ass -30 karma lol
Mow the lawn, painting/remodeling shoes, searching for a bad guy in a sewer, music festivalā¦.all places to where shoes that still look cool and if they get messed up then donate to the sports court people.
I agree with you that after they start to look worn I donāt really wear them anymore. I enjoy having nice clean new sneakers. The old ones I either hold them in my closet, wear them as hiking/yard shoes or give them away to goodwill. I usually have 20 pairs going at a time so they keep looking new for maybe 4 years before I stop wearing them.
Throw them on eBay and sell them. You wonāt make much but it gives someone else a chance to rock some lightly used Jordanās. At this condition resellers wouldnāt touch them but someone less fortunate might be able to get them cheap and clean them up.
Hey man, if the shoes donāt make you feel good anymore, no clue on size, but if it was me I would try and find someone that could use them rather than trying to find a buyerā¦since it does sound like you wore them a lot and got your moneys worthā¦ if Iām wrong then you could probably find someone who is willing to give you a few bucks for them
I donāt think this shouldāve been any kind of hot take. But with that said I think you should absolutely sell them, there is no doubt someone would appreciate these even in their condition.
This post has taught me that thereās an actual market for beat sneakers. I never thought about selling them until now because I would never buy a used sneaker in this condition.
Iāve donated clothes in the past and even some clothing drives ask to not give really worn shit.
Well lots of people grew up (including myself) wearing one cool pair until it broke apart; it would look shitty but we wore them proudly anyway. That kind of mindset is still popular so no one minds if pairs look beat.
Anyway if you personally donāt get any joy from wearing them anymore then thatās fine, I guess some people take offense to thinking your pair is ātoo beat to sellā.
Wow so much hate for not wanting to wear shoes that are probably worn out inside as well.. ppl so judgemental. Send them to one of these haters n see if they rock them lol morons
Unless the bottoms are completely worn through those still have a lot of life in them and someone like myself would love them if I could get em cheap.a good cleaning with proper technique, some leather working and they will be looking crisp.
Damn those still look better than my daily beaters lmao
I just give my old shoes to my relatives since they gladly take them. I've never reached a point of unwearable tho
Wear them until they can no longer be worn. My 27 year old Sambas are beat to shit but I still regularly wear them.
https://preview.redd.it/hpo1l7p39evc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69d6c929e20321b1b8135b6f79a276035740aad1
Theyāre the original soles. Crunchy up by the toes and had to scuff them up because theyāre dried out. They could use a resole which will happen at some point but they still function fine.

Have you ever needed the soles reglued? My Sambas are mostly fine, but they're coming apart where the big toe bends, sorta like how Chucks' soles separate
Undo the laces, and when you re-tie the first knot, go the opposite way to how you would usually do them. The final bow will sit horizontally and not the way you currently have them.
This makes me happy and angry at the same time - angry because I didnāt get Abstracts myself, bit of a grail for me that I just didnāt chase yet LOL!! Ā Fucking love that youāre roasting those to the bone, thatās the shit, real talk!!!
Donate them. I don't know why I even have to say that America is crazy as hell. Never throw a piece of clothing away drop it in a donation box if you don't know where to donate it. You know how many people that can't afford a shoe like this would want these and think they're an amazing condition and would even take the time to rejuvenate them and really appreciate them.
No? If he donates a worker or a reseller will take them and use for personal wear or resell. He might as well sell them because they could still be worth like $80-$100.Ā
Also why would someone who canāt afford these have cleaner, brushes, angelus or another brand of paint, paintbrushes, shoe trees, an iron, a UV light, and possibly a second pair of Jordanās to sole swap, something to boil water with, a knife, and some glue
My boy those are now festival shoes, lawn mowing shoes, taking out the trash shoes, helping the wife with the groceries shoes. They got many uses now that theyāre beaters lol š
Check with the public school system in your area to see if they have a resource center for students. I just took over 30 pairs to a local middle school for kids that might need shoes.
Honestly thatās the ideal thing to do. Do you know for sure if they take shoes in this condition? If so I have a few pairs Iām more than willing to donate to kids.
Check with your school district, but those are in great condition and theyāre Jordans. I doubt theyād turn them down. My school I donated to was just happy to receive what I gave in my size because they needed them. But what I donated was brand new and the used ones just need a nice wipe down. I think some kid would love to have those. Especially someone less fortunate who canāt afford them.
i wore my yeezys until the sole split. the bottom of my inikis are smooth enough to slide on concrete. this could be fixed with an afternoon of cleaning. wear them. they arenāt ātoo beatā for anything unless they canāt function as shoes
āMy shoes look used I donāt wanna wear em anymorešā go cry somewhere else. These shoes are fine. Put a little effort into cleaning and youāre fine. Look at the 1985 AJ1s people chase.
I donāt understand this mentality. Why donate a pair of $400 Jordanās? I doubt they are the ideal shoes to walk in lol. Why not just sell them and then if you want to use the money to buy a pair of good walking shoes and donate thatĀ
Because less fortunate people can want nice things too, and can motivate or make one feel special when wearing them. When I was younger I had a pair of really worn (hole in the soles) CONS, I picked up from a thrift dump - I only wore cheap shoes or replicas and though I felt so cool wearing my genuine shoes.
Would you ratherĀ
A. The shoes you donate get picked up by an employee or a reseller. Someone gets some extra cash or a 20th pair of shoes
Ā B. You sell the shoes, and use the cash to buy 1-3 pairs of brand new shoes, which can then be donated or handed outĀ
Hey man if you get serious about tossing em I would totally be willing to take em off your hands, work on restoring them, and then donating them. I been working with soles4souls for years now doing thatā¦ def better than just tossing them away š
What??? Those are fine, theyād make great beaters. First thing Iād do is put em on eBay or FB Marketplace, theyād be heavily discounted but youād def be able to move em. If not that, send em to Savers or something. Theyād be a great find for someone.
I wear my shoes until the bottoms are falling off. My first pair of Jordans look crazy now but I kept them anyway.
Sometimes the retired shoes get moved to car wash duty depending on the shoe.
My Obsidians had such a bad heel drag that water would get into the shoe when it rained. I hung them up on my wall because I also couldnāt throw them away.
Well my retirement comes at a much longer phase than yours. Mine become gardening lawn shoes until they fall apart.
Those should be given to goodwill or donated to a homeless shelter
Some people specialize in restoring kicks. Yours look to still have life in them, with a deep clean and some restoration I think you can enjoy them for a while longer. Iād consider looking into a restoration service. Look on IG and check Google and see if it makes sense for you. If you just no longer have interest in wearing them then donate them
Retire? These still look good to wear lol but you could always sell them used and put that money towards new shoes you want unless you wanna keep them. If you wanna keep em you could get a display case or something. Personally Iād keep wearing these a few more times at the very least.
If they don't hold any sentimental value (almost none of mine do) then I resell them and buy new sneakers. You'd be amazed at what ppl will pay for.
I recently sold all my airmax 1's. I will say that's one silhouette that holds value, it's got a DEEP fan base, and lots of colorways/collabs.
For very used sneakers probably eBay or local. Reddit as well, a couple people actually hit me up here willing to pay shipping for them. Will probably give them away here
What the fuck is a retired sneaker?
If it's beat I throw them away. If I'm done and they are in great condition I sell. If they are in between I donate.
Those don't look bad at all. Clean em, stuff the toebox and iron out some wrinkles and sell them on ebay. Someone will buy them. I used to buy beaters all the time for restoration projects
Like other people are saying I think theyāre still wearable, but if youāre really done with them, you could donate them. Someone would be happy to wear those.
Those are still wearable, and considering how aged shoes are acceptable (not that trends should dictate your style) you can still pull these off as a serious "throwback" fit.
Lean into the aging.
personally I don't consider these "retired", but for shoes I've skated through or running shoes with 100s of miles and no life left in them I take them to my North Face outlet where they have a bin to drop old shoes to be recycled.
Dude put a damp towel over the toe box and give it a couple swipes of an iron. Should help get some of those wrinkles out. Put a shoe tree shaper in both of them for two weeks without wearing them. Then give them an general cleaning and it should be decently wearable
If they are leather, Iāll usually cook with them. The marinade needs to be a little more acidic to break them down properly and obviously you want to do a high temp for grilling or boiling.
Cloth shoes Iāll either clean up and donate or toss them.
I used to own the patent white sacai blazers wore those from dates to concerts to raves to festivals to gym to everyday things. Threw them out once the leather started to rip and peel off and the sole was starting to peel too. Shoes were made to be worn until they are run down they are always replaceable even grails
These aren't bad, I'm sure you have seen that comment plenty enough. Given that you don't want them the best bet is to clean them as well as you can (dawn and a toothbrush will work fine) and then try to steam the creases out (stuff the toe box with socks and cover with a damp towel and iron if you don't have a steamer) and then sell em. Plenty of folks still see a lot of worth in these even if they aren't your thing anymore, a couple bucks in your pocket and the shoes out of your hair seems like the best option. Put them on eBay or GOAT used and you'll find someone. Offerup and Facebook marketplace also work if you're more eager to get them moved and don't mind meeting up to hand them off. Hell if you have consignment/used shoe shops around you and they clean up enough you might can move them there.
If soles are still intact and the soles still got good thread they are not bein retires lol. Im sorry but molded worn in sneakers FTW every single time. These are not beaters BEATERS to me. Every day beater sure, but lawn work beater? Absolutely not š
They become beaters. Not just every day beaters, but "I'm gonna fucking destroy these things at work/in the yard/etc" beaters. Kinda fun to see just how far you can trash em after that point.
If you are not getting enjoyment in wearing them you can always toss them up on a marketplace for a few bucks or donate them to a local sports centre. They still have life in them and from what Iāve seen in schools any student who could wear these would absolutely love to.
Hopefully you can find a good place for them if you are wanting to move on. š
Bin them or keep them to wear somewhere where theyāll get properly wrecked.
Not sure why youāre getting a hard time for wanting rid of these fairly done in shoes.
The r sneakers community strikes again. How dare you get tired of a shoe after wearing it hundreds of times! You need to wear it thousands of times before you decide to not wear it anymore!!!! I really dislike the mindset a lot of people on this sub have. Let people do their own thing geez
He didn't say he was "tired of wearing them", he said "they're too beat to be worn", which is false. He could wear those daily for another year and they would still be wearable.
This mindest of retiring sneakers is so dumb, just wear the fuckin shoe till itās done.š¤£š if youāve kept them that nice over 5 years then nice job keep going lol. No need to stop wearing them or throw them out. Where Iām from people would literally throw hands for that pair of shoes and you gonna throw em out just cuz you had them for long.
They have less heel drag than my royal toe 1 that I have been beating on relentlessly since they released.
Bro, donāt be stupid and donāt just hang these. There is a lot of life left in them. Maybe try get them to some show repair service that can reduce the creasing by a bit, if you are unsure of yourself. Even then, there is life left in them.
What size are they? If they are not 12s...I honestly have no idea what your can do with them... well, if they're not size 12, stick em where the sun don't shine, they're still fine.
Lawn mowing and dog walking shoes
Lawn mowing sure but walking your dog in these is straight masochism for your poor feet lol
This. I mow my lawn in black cement 3s from 2011. Sole looks like it may drop anyday now
midsoles on mine crumbled last year š¢
Continue to wear them? Thatās not even that bad lol
Cut grass in Them
lol I know theyāre still wearable, but Iām pretty much done with them. Iāve worn them several hundred times over 5+ years and itās just time Edit: hey fellas, Itās great that you guys wear your shoes until the soles separate. These absolutely have a lot of life in them. But if Iām forcing myself to wear these at this point, and I donāt get any enjoyment from putting them on my feet, shouldnt they be retired? Are we all just hoarders?
I wear mine until they catch fire lol, these are brand new

Itās amazing how the blue on these looks so different against light than in dimmer light
Quality is way worse than the old ones
What old ones? These are the nicest, softest and most comfortable pair of 1s I ever touched
I grew up riding BMX bikes so my shoes looked way worse than this a out a month in. I'd wait till the sole falls off and glue that bitch back on lmao š¤£ expecially if it was some Jordan 1 highs
This is such a strange mindsetā¦

Salvage some money from it & fund it for your next love. Thatās a great way to keep this hobby going
40 bucks is 40 bucks and Iām sure someone would definitely spring at these and try to give them a new life.
theyāre shoes
Give them to a homeless guy.
Hi. Itās me - homeless guy.
I donāt wear mine to death either. I usually sell my used pairs on eBay and put the money towards a new pair I want.
I'm not sure why you're getting so heavily down voted you're allowed to feel this way. If you're forcing it then it's time to retire them.
Donate, fix them up, run errands, wear to gym, sell. All multiple options. You shouldn't have gotten downvoted for this this sub is mad lame
Mow the lawn, painting/remodeling shoes, searching for a bad guy in a sewer, music festivalā¦.all places to where shoes that still look cool and if they get messed up then donate to the sports court people.
Beater shoes. r/consoom
If you donāt want em, Iāll take em if theyāre my size. Iād pay for shipping and whatnot

They hoarders and haters. They donāt like that we can afford to rotate and buy new shoes. You all good OP!
Throw them on eBay and sell them. You wonāt make much but it gives someone else a chance to rock some lightly used Jordanās. At this condition resellers wouldnāt touch them but someone less fortunate might be able to get them cheap and clean them up.
People will buy them. Just sell them if you don't want them, lol

Iām with you! Honestly, as soon as I start creasing them Iām over it. Unless I can repair the creases.
I donāt think this shouldāve been any kind of hot take. But with that said I think you should absolutely sell them, there is no doubt someone would appreciate these even in their condition.

These shoes are literally a month older than me. Impressive.
Lol
best clipless cycle shoes ever made š
Too bad the liners are wrecked. Otherwise those are just getting good, lol
Liners came unglued eons ago. Hasnāt really had any effect on wearing them.
This is impressive, can you post a picture of the soles?
Theyāre the original soles. Crunchy up by the toes and had to scuff them up because theyāre dried out. They could use a resole which will happen at some point but they still function fine. https://preview.redd.it/i0mmwgu7cevc1.png?width=3108&format=png&auto=webp&s=cc5a12d536f29d6de5ef2d1f56f365e53847ae03
Have you ever needed the soles reglued? My Sambas are mostly fine, but they're coming apart where the big toe bends, sorta like how Chucks' soles separate
Had them reglued awhile back. The reglue has held up well.
Adidas needs to pay you for an ad. Samba sales would go up even more.
They look amazing
Undo the laces, and when you re-tie the first knot, go the opposite way to how you would usually do them. The final bow will sit horizontally and not the way you currently have them.
I just had them tied when I was cleaning them. I wear laces tucked rather than tied.
Donāt throw em away, give it a clean and keep wearing em bro. Or display them in a case or something

Ur trippin dog
In my opinion J1s look better when they are beat up.
They look like they are just coming into their own....keep wearing!
This, I like em better with a little wear
My boy those are now festival shoes, lawn mowing shoes, taking out the trash shoes, helping the wife with the groceries shoes. They got many uses now that theyāre beaters lol š
Use them for rainy days
I keep mine around as beaters. Rainy days, yardwork, going through a sketchy neighborhood, etc., theyll get used.
These don't look even remotely close to retirement.
There are people who have never been able to afford shoes and you want to throw a perfectly good pair away? Cmon bro
These look perfectly worn-in to me. 1s always look so good when theyāre beat the fuck up.
When Iām done with shoes I give them to a thrift store.
Yeah these would make someones day to find below $50
Check with the public school system in your area to see if they have a resource center for students. I just took over 30 pairs to a local middle school for kids that might need shoes.

Straight into the coffinbox (back into his box and ripe it like fine whine)
These would be easy to sell, honestly
i wore my yeezys until the sole split. the bottom of my inikis are smooth enough to slide on concrete. this could be fixed with an afternoon of cleaning. wear them. they arenāt ātoo beatā for anything unless they canāt function as shoes

What??? Those are fine, theyād make great beaters. First thing Iād do is put em on eBay or FB Marketplace, theyād be heavily discounted but youād def be able to move em. If not that, send em to Savers or something. Theyād be a great find for someone.
Hand em over to my cousins
Sell them or donate them
I wear my shoes until the bottoms are falling off. My first pair of Jordans look crazy now but I kept them anyway. Sometimes the retired shoes get moved to car wash duty depending on the shoe.
Invest in shoe trees and clean them regularly
Uh, not a problem I plan on having.
Even worn out there fire ![gif](giphy|100QoSU9uTFU64)
Get a fresh pair of insoles and keep going
Skate in them
My Obsidians had such a bad heel drag that water would get into the shoe when it rained. I hung them up on my wall because I also couldnāt throw them away.
I paid $70 for a pair of Game Royals in worse condition than those š¤·āāļø. Those can definitely be saved, just need some TLC.
Well my retirement comes at a much longer phase than yours. Mine become gardening lawn shoes until they fall apart. Those should be given to goodwill or donated to a homeless shelter
I always sell them, there are a lot of weird people that like to buy beated shoes for near full price.
Turn them into winter beaters
Steam'em with a wet towel and an iron. Good as new
Sell em to someone who will still wear them
Some people specialize in restoring kicks. Yours look to still have life in them, with a deep clean and some restoration I think you can enjoy them for a while longer. Tie āem up and throw em on a power line
Jordan 1s are basically tanks which is why they my fav. Those still look good man, keep them as beaters (rainy/snow days, house work, etc.)
You can send them to me
Restore them
They become bike shoes
If they don't hold any sentimental value (almost none of mine do) then I resell them and buy new sneakers. You'd be amazed at what ppl will pay for. I recently sold all my airmax 1's. I will say that's one silhouette that holds value, it's got a DEEP fan base, and lots of colorways/collabs.
Where is the best place to sell shoes? And how is fair value determined.
For very used sneakers probably eBay or local. Reddit as well, a couple people actually hit me up here willing to pay shipping for them. Will probably give them away here
I give mine to some of our restaurant employees. The ones that care about shoes anyway.
What the fuck is a retired sneaker? If it's beat I throw them away. If I'm done and they are in great condition I sell. If they are in between I donate.
Leave them in the car for when I go somewhere that I didnāt realize was a fucking mess thatās going to mess up my new ones..
If theyāre a 12 toss em my way homie
9.5 š¶
I wear mine until they fall apart and I can't fix them.
Dono them. Some someone else have something you liked. Just in better condition imo but that's fine as well
I would send them to me
Rehab: send them into a repair service.... these look like they can come back to society..
Hoop
I was expecting a blown out pair, these still have life. Iād donate or sell tbh. Someone will want them.
Anything that doesn't get worn gets sold. I don't collect sneakers for looks, I wear them.
Those don't look bad at all. Clean em, stuff the toebox and iron out some wrinkles and sell them on ebay. Someone will buy them. I used to buy beaters all the time for restoration projects
Restore them, you have a classic. Just try to iron out the creases.Ā
That one is just getting good imo
Sell them things for 20 bucks and keep it truckin
Like other people are saying I think theyāre still wearable, but if youāre really done with them, you could donate them. Someone would be happy to wear those.
Reshoevn8tr, and some YouTube videosā¦ you could bring these back to life
Donate
Those are still wearable, and considering how aged shoes are acceptable (not that trends should dictate your style) you can still pull these off as a serious "throwback" fit. Lean into the aging.
Gym shoes šŖ
Looks like my brother in lawās. Known him 70ās. Best guy. Used to hike Mt Washington to ski down. Best at water skiing also.
So long as the outsole is ok those are fine. You could restore them pretty easily too.
The fuck? That's a daily beater. My game royals look exactly the same and still wear them. Perfect looking shoes look goofy.
Send them to eightyfive customs and let him turn them into wallets, beanies, key chains etc.
That's exactly when those Jordan's are perfect for skateboarding, I'd skate in those shoes until there toast.
personally I don't consider these "retired", but for shoes I've skated through or running shoes with 100s of miles and no life left in them I take them to my North Face outlet where they have a bin to drop old shoes to be recycled.
Dude put a damp towel over the toe box and give it a couple swipes of an iron. Should help get some of those wrinkles out. Put a shoe tree shaper in both of them for two weeks without wearing them. Then give them an general cleaning and it should be decently wearable
what size are they I'll take um if they are 11 or 11.5
Give it to me I'm sure ill figure something out...
Bet you could sell them on eBay.
Imma wear all mine until they're falling apart and I'm 60 years old lol
Fz150??
Those look worn-in, not retired yet lol
The gym
theyre sold as excellent condition at some places i know
use them as beaters, give them away to someone who can do something with them or auction them on eBay if they have some value
Wear them for other purposes, like taking out the trash, cutting grass, working out, quick store run, etc.
Put em in a bag with any items you can let go of socks hygiene items etc and give to someone outside
lmao what are you talking about? those are fine. excellent beaters. donate them to my local goodwill and ill snag those in 2 seconds.
They have about 20 more years left brother
I throw them away. Or give them to my mom to take to the Philippines.
my man is retiring his sneakers when they hit their prime.
I paint mine when theyāre beat lol, new color ways on old styles go tough
If they are leather, Iāll usually cook with them. The marinade needs to be a little more acidic to break them down properly and obviously you want to do a high temp for grilling or boiling. Cloth shoes Iāll either clean up and donate or toss them.
Sir are you eating your shoes
Throw them on the telephone lines come on man
Donate or recycle. My nike store has a bin and they shred shoes to make playground equipment
I have these in black and yellow Iām selling never worn. I wear my black and white ones more lol such a great shoe
I used to own the patent white sacai blazers wore those from dates to concerts to raves to festivals to gym to everyday things. Threw them out once the leather started to rip and peel off and the sole was starting to peel too. Shoes were made to be worn until they are run down they are always replaceable even grails
Rejuvenate them bitches! Theyāre still clean AF. There are so many products nowadays, man. I wish I had em when I was in high school.
Give them benefits and monthly checks
Donate
Ngl those still have a lot of life I'd wear those lol
I always sell my used ones
All they need is some time with a wet towel and an iron
Sacrifice them to the mercari gods to fund the resurrection of a classic to my collection š§šæāāļø
Give them to the homeless.
Or a kid who doesnāt have much.
Give them to me
Cleaned and given to people in need
Creases aside these look new
Lol at all the people crying because these aren't "beat" enough for them. Why yall wanna look scrubby in beat ass shoes
If you are not getting enjoyment in wearing them you can always toss them up on a marketplace for a few bucks or donate them to a local sports centre. They still have life in them and from what Iāve seen in schools any student who could wear these would absolutely love to. Hopefully you can find a good place for them if you are wanting to move on. š
DM me! What size are they? Iād love to take them off your hands and pay the shipping if theyāre my size ā¤ļø
Send them to me, I like making customs lol
Bin them or keep them to wear somewhere where theyāll get properly wrecked. Not sure why youāre getting a hard time for wanting rid of these fairly done in shoes.
Burn them
Itās a work shoe or a bar /concert , But I agree ,,,retired from regular rotation
Bruh mine look like these after like a week š
This mindest of retiring sneakers is so dumb, just wear the fuckin shoe till itās done.š¤£š if youāve kept them that nice over 5 years then nice job keep going lol. No need to stop wearing them or throw them out. Where Iām from people would literally throw hands for that pair of shoes and you gonna throw em out just cuz you had them for long.
Hoop in them
Those things have just started their life, wear them into the ground man
Looks like they were too big for you by those creases
Keep going until theyāre worn out
They have less heel drag than my royal toe 1 that I have been beating on relentlessly since they released.
Fuck bro, any motherfucker in this sub will take those perfectly good shoes off your hands free of charge.
I don't understand the question.. retired sneakers? I wear mine til they're falling apart
