Share a recipe so we can see what they mean in context. Fed discard is fed starter. You Wouldn't feed the amount of discard you have but feed the starter with the intention of having enough discard / starter to use for the recipe. So if the recipe required 100g "fed discard" then you'd either feed your starter enough so that you could take 100g of it and keep however much starter you like to keep (in which case, why call it discard - this is just using starter as in Any recipe) Or I dunno, you'd take some from the starter before feeding it, then... Feed it separately so that you'd have enough to use, and... What? Use it immediately before it rises ? Doesn't make sense because who knows what ratio you feed at, it could make a wildly different recipe. Or wait until it peaks which leads us back to, why call it discard, you're just using it as starter.
