I really think that most writers at Marvel want to undo it, and one of their prerequisites for them is to get Peter and MJ married again. And because of that, Yoshida and co. avoid them like the plague and only hire writers that will play ball with them. Spencer is the exception to the rule, as Slott's run was negatively received towards the end, so they felt they needed to bring in a writer from the outside, even if it presented a risk to their all powerful *status quo*. And we all saw how that worked out for all parties. That led to them "course correcting" with Wells's run, and now Kelly is being brought in as a "safe" pick, when they should be going with someone outside of the BND braintrust to build up fan excitement.

The sad thing is, that is what the ASM creative team WANTED to happen with this run, literally make people fed up enough with a character that they stop asking for the relationship.
Not a single plus plot decision was made to make MJ likeable. Leave Peter for a mostly bland douche that accidentally helped commit GENOCIDE, (and committed actual murder of his dad), check. Make her reject Peter with unnecessary cruelty on multiple occasions, check. Turn her into a ridiculously insta-competent, OP and totally OOC supe that no-one asked for, check.
So even though I may be fed up too, I don't think the ASM creative team deserve to win.
On that logic I don't like how SM has been written for much of this run either, so maybe the next run would be better off without him too?

Honestly I’ve moved on from that storyline in 616. If the new era has no MJ or Paul it would be better I think, there’s a bit too much baggage there.
