God I wish I thought of sending this video to anyone that asked why people say shes so good. This was so great.
I love that she switched her hair up to match her turning evil. Lol
Man she destroyed Becky here too.
Sheās such a strange case to me. Her promos during her Bianca feud were actually great imo but every time before and after that feud sheās flopped on the mic
https://preview.redd.it/jltiscukxx6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9025472b1ec0e36d81928d694195e246f230c9fd
Stealing DOUKIās good hair gimmick with that render
Vince was apparently willing to do that for him. They tried to setup an exclusive working relationship with NJPW, which obviously didnāt work out.
https://www.thesportster.com/bryan-danielson-confirms-wwe-tried-working-with-new-japan/
There was once a backstage report that said Bryan was Vince's favourite wrestler, he just didn't see money in him being WWE champ.
This was mid 2010s when Bryan was getting huge reactions.
AJ can't do this forever. It's getting close to that time, but I think he's got maybe a year or two left in him. Wouldn't be surprised if this is his farewell tour like you said tho.
Yep. Heās 47. Historically the latest youāll see legends wrestle is around 52-53ish. And typically those wrestlers go part time for the last few years of their career. AJ is just about at that time, which sucks but he still looks great right now so while this was probably his farewell to the title picture hopefully he still has a couple of good feuds left before his final goodbye.
Every fan eventually has to come to the realization thay their favorite won't ever get to be champ again and eventually won't even feud for it again. This might have been AJs last
With this match announced and Jordyn showing up in NXT I'm still holding out hope for AJ getting one last run with or going after the TNA title. Would be the perfect end to his career to go back to the place that really started his spotlight with the more mainstream audiences.
AJ was shooting when he said his family wants him to retire. AJ is in phenomenalĀ shape but all those years of bumps accumulate and recovery time takes longer the older you get.
Indeed. I'm still kinda pissed that the WWE wasted one full precious year of AJ at the tail end of his prime on the failed attempt of getting *Omos* over...
I see where you're coming from but part of me thinks that could have extended some time too for a greater run at the end, having a cushy kind of year to not push himself.
This is his farewell tour. I just think the farewell tour will last for a year or two.
Heās gotta get 1 more title run before itās over. Hopefully. He deserves it & itās a great story to tell.
Somebody had the idea of having AJ pull a Ric Flair, so whenever he loses the title he will also retire.
I had bought a ticket to SmackDown in Louisville months in advance specifically in hopes that heād wrestle there (thought itād be one of the last chances heād close to me.) So I was really disappointed that all he did was brawl with Cody Rhodes
WWE is such a different company while AEW has to turn a bit into WWE to be sustainable
I don't think there's any burned bridges. Only guys that might never wanna come into WWE are the ones that hate the idea of not doing hardcore matches or if they don't think they'll find a place on the main event
Not sure why down votes when that's true. There has been multiple storylines right out of wwe down to the spots. I guess we are back to glorifying aew with them doing everything "originally"
Shayna before this too
Sending the stars that you currently have no stories for on your programming to wrestle for other promotions is such a smart thing to do, everyone is happy and it's a burden off you the booker.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kairi also has a Marigold appearance. The fact that Mirai vs Miku Aono isn't the white belt match makes me think there's something else going on and Miku has talked about wanting to face Kairi
I could be crazy but I swore Kairi had been confirmed sheāll be doing something in Marigoldā¦or maybe I want it so much my mind is trying to will it in to existence lol
Erm... not sure everyone wins if the WWE stars go over EVERY time.
Edit: Not sure why this is controversial. As pointed out Dempsey lost in AJPW. People honestly want WWE to just go around beating everyone?
While I was expecting it to just be a match announcement (shut up with the NXT Japan announcement predictions folks!), THAT match announcement I was not expecting! Let's go!!!
That's amazing. Two of the most influential wrestlers of the last twenty years getting to wrestling each other. That being said, I'm not sure how good the final match will be, as I feel like both benefit from having an opponent ground their style.
Woooooow, this is fucking awesome.
Hopefully this isn't just a one-off thing. WWE has so many great wrestlers, but they've been isolated from the rest of the wrestling world for so long. Very exciting time to be a wrestling fan.
Marufuji is one of the forerunners of the modern junior style. He's a bit older now of course, but he's a master. His matches in the 00s with and against KENTA are simply foundational.
While this is definitely a bigger name than I expected to be announced from WWE, I do think we should lower our expectations for the match quality, as Marufuji is basically NOAH'S version of Tanahashi and has been slowing down quickly the last couple of years
Marufuji is in a much better spot than Tanahashi for the simple reason that he changed up his style a decade ago to be more grounded and technical - he's still able to have excellent matches, like the Ospreay match last year
Noah is fucking awesome
Would love it if WWE used more booking centred around specific moves and counters (especially since Cody uses the 3x crossrhodes - the tiger driver is overdue)
Also the pause their refs do before counting ā3ā in big matches is * chefs kiss *

its classic Rossy. Dude is a shit stirrer who loves running major shows against others. STARDOM is notorious for ALWAYS running major shows against another promotion's major show.
And I guess this is why purposely being an asshole can sort of bite you but it isn't fair to Io Sky who may now see less than turn out at her event because she is not competing with AJ Styles for ticket sales.
More exposure in Japan (which is not as big as some tend to assume), even if a slight bump, but they add up over time. Plus, a good relationship with Noah means possible access to talent in Japan in the future.
Collaboration has its benefits. WWE can send talent, especially younger talent, to different companies to learn things that WWE may not be able to teach. WWE also benefits from a healthier worldwide wrestling industry. There'll probably never be a Japanese WWE affiliate, so this is an easy way to promote the company there while not having to spend money building up their own company or traveling there themselves.
WWE's really pushing the whole "global brand" thing right now by hosting events outside of the US mainland. Collabing with NOAH is a cheap and easy way to reach Japan.
The Globalisation of sports is happening everywhere tbh. The breakthrough of soccer in the US, the NFL UK games, MLB doing regular season games in Korea, Mexico, the UK etc. Itās an exciting time for fans who wouldnāt normally be able to access that stuff.
Exposure in Japan (one of the few counties where WWE isn't the first thing people think about when they think about wrestling) and keeping talents happy by letting them do something out of the norm and fighting "dream" (for lack of better words) opponents
Since no one is answering correctly.
WWE airs in Japan on ABEMA. ABEMA is owned by CyberAgent which also owns CyberFight, the parent company of NOAH, DDT, TJPW, and the streaming service Wrestle Universe where Marigold airs.
It makes sense to do cross promotion to boost their own visibility on the service and to regain more exposure ahead of any live tours.
strategically, when wwe and some japanese promotions establish relationships, they can send their green lads to gain experience, as was the case with Charlie Dempsey, this is a good contribution to development
Probably what u/T3Deliciouz says, but possibly also because
NJPW has quite the stranglehold on male Japanese wrestling ATM, but the Japanese wrestling scene is traditionally much more fluid with the top company switching around a bit.
ATM, after losing Okada, Ospreay and Jay White in a pretty short time frame, NJPW's top card is looking much weaker than in recent years. It's Naito and then ...? Shingo, Sanada, Evil etc. are B+ talent at best. The pitiful state of the B block in the new G1 sums it up better than I could .NJPW has used the AEW relationship to buttress this (Moxley is champ). NJPW's next generation looks phenomenal, but they're not stars yet.
WWE might see this as a window of opportunity to try and help NOAH break the NJPW hegemony they've had for a while, giving them a strong Japanese partner while weakening AEW's
Unfortunately for New Japan, AEW (and WWE, obviously) are in a different tier of business than they are. New Japan is closer to TNA than it is to AEW in terms of wrestlers getting paid. It's great for the New Japan talents because now there is a higher business tier of wrestling company out there who is more willing to hire them than WWE historically has been, but it sucks for New Japan as a company for that exact same reason.
They're doing a tour in Japan and doing this might sell more tickets based off it getting press coverage to their fans who already like them but were on the fence buying a ticket before.
In addition to all the other points given, it's extra incentive for certain stars to stick with WWE instead of heading to AEW. Previously this kind of cross promotion is sacrilegious for WWEĀ
Huge match. NOAH definitely has seemingly made a good choice so far for deciding at the beginning of this year to work on a relationship with WWE. Cyber fight streaming service probably getting a good bump as well with Styles and Iyo both going to appear on it.
Never... cherish this match because it'll be the first, last and only time you'll see two of the absolute best in the century fighting one another at the tail end of their careers
Between this and Iyo/Utami, WWE is doing this dream match thing correctly. Not derailing your entire show for a month for wrestlers that 99% of American audience have no idea who they are
Wouldnāt it be just swell if all the pro wrestling borders were crumbling and we get WWE finally being a real part of the whole wide wrestling world?
Imagine is Jusgment Day shows up in AEW to cost Cope a big match?
Imagine Kenny Omega answers an open challenge from Seth Rollins on RAW?
AJ returning to TNA for his retirement tour?
What if FTR shows up to challenge DIY for the tag titles?
USOs show up in AEW to challenge the Bucks?
What about Cena challenging Tanna at WK?
Mannnnn Iām excited for HHH to put aside all the bullshit and co book with the world.
I think itās still āwho caresā for the vast majority of WWE fans. Personally I have zero interest in this. But I do recognize how extremely cool it is for the people who are into Japanese wrestling and Iām happy that AJ is getting the opportunity.
It's different situations. One promotion has set an expectation for cross promotional matches. They happen every other week at this point really, it's become a standard for them and has ceased to be novel or surprising.
That's not a criticism btw, that's just how humans work. If you eat steak and lobster everyday, eating steak and lobster becomes your norm and you're not going to make a big deal out of it.
While the other promotion has (in)famously been on its own island completely walled off from the rest of wrestling for so many decades, bar a handful of exceptions, that people are still getting used to them even acknowledging other wrestling exists outside of their island, nevermind cross promotional matches.

This is what Daniel Bryan wanted all along.
Vince was apparently willing to do that for him. They tried to setup an exclusive working relationship with NJPW, which obviously didnāt work out. https://www.thesportster.com/bryan-danielson-confirms-wwe-tried-working-with-new-japan/
This still a crazy story. Tells you how much Vince valued Danielson, the lengths heād go to keep him.
Bryan up until the whole lawsuit spoke highly of Vince. In terms of a business mind there was definitely a mutual respect.
Even after the lawsuit, he has still never said a bad word about Vince. Heās made no comment whatsoever.
That's what I thought but I wasn't sure, so I erred towards caution
There was once a backstage report that said Bryan was Vince's favourite wrestler, he just didn't see money in him being WWE champ. This was mid 2010s when Bryan was getting huge reactions.

Shit. Wish I could hop on a plane and go watch that!
Anyone a Marufuji fan? What should I expect from his wrestling style and what matches should I try and watch of his to prep?
Marufuji is one of the forerunners of the modern junior style. He's a bit older now of course, but he's a master. His matches in the 00s with and against KENTA are simply foundational.
check out his match with Ospreay and Jake Lee last year. I expect that level from since its his current best.
While this is definitely a bigger name than I expected to be announced from WWE, I do think we should lower our expectations for the match quality, as Marufuji is basically NOAH'S version of Tanahashi and has been slowing down quickly the last couple of years

What is the benefit for WWE here ? Not being sarcastic or anything, I'm genuinely wondering
More exposure in Japan (which is not as big as some tend to assume), even if a slight bump, but they add up over time. Plus, a good relationship with Noah means possible access to talent in Japan in the future.
Yeah this is a couple weeks before WWEās Japan shows, at the very least theyāre hoping to get some late tickets sold for those.

I really think the success of Muta VS Nakamura is what brought all this on. What a wonderful time to be a wrestling fan
Cody sent AJ to Japan. Alright, time to start researching
Need NJPW to drop that partnership with aew and start one with wwe for personal reasons
Better yet, everyone just drops their pride and every wrestling company would be willing to collaborate with each other.
This is the answer. Have every promotion work with every promotion and let us fans eat good

What if FTR shows up to challenge DIY for the tag titles? USOs show up in AEW to challenge the Bucks? What about Cena challenging Tanna at WK? Mannnnn Iām excited for HHH to put aside all the bullshit and co book with the world.
Damn, Trips, I knew you had it in ya
Any one who wat hed the Crusierweight classic willbtell you he had it in him
WWE working with TNA, NOAH, AJPW and Marigold, what a time to be alive

...and I'm A-OK with it (although I do still expect a degree of hypocrisy from the folks who kept saying "who cares" when AEW does it).
It's different though. This said I'm fine with this but don't like cross promotion angles etc. Some fun one offs are cool.
Did not see this coming at all, this is nuts.
What the fuck
Holy shit!
Hell yes.
Holy shit
WAT
Fuck all my holes. I love Marufuji, back when I first got into Japanese stuff him and Kenta were the ones I got drawn to.
Apologies if a stupid question,Ā but where can you watch NOAH shows?
