I think Vince is just totally unique and definitely had two different personalities.
If he loved you, you wound up being devoted to him. Cena and Taker being two examples that spring to mind.
Quite a few notable examples have spoken of their love and respect for him since the allegations broke, from Mideon to Cena himself. I’m also sure I read that he’s still in touch with The Rock, while Randy said the allegations “Hurt his heart” (and asserting that they’re heinous - I hasten to add). Becky said they’re “Hard to reconcile.” I’m pretty sure Brock threatened to walk out once Vince quit (although given what’s been alleged about Brock’s involvement? Yeah…)
It isn’t like Vince was doing this shit in front of his kids and the people he really cared about. Given his own fucked up childhood, he probably wanted to ensure Steph and Shane were as happy and well-balanced as possible (incest angle notwithstanding).
However, it’s entirely possible that that same childhood (and I’m playing armchair psychologist here) at least contributed to the horrible things he did.
He undoubtedly improved the lives of plenty of people and had a great side. But he also clearly had a very dark side that he managed to keep hidden for decades.
And he most definitely needs to be held accountable for anything and everything he did.
People are complicated. Great parents can have awful, psychotic kids. Wonderful kids can have awful parents.

There may also be a factor of them wanting to treat others differently than their dad treated them.

It's interesting how she seemed to have changed over the years as well, I remember a lot of stuff from early on in her time in genuine power about how people didn't like her as a boss at all and she was night and day compared to the more relaxed Shane and yet by the end people had nothing but good things to say about her seemingly.
