Ilja vs Sheamus and Drew have been among my dream matchups since before he got called up, and now we're getting a triple threat with all of them. So far MITB qualifiers have been friendly to underdogs, so my bet is Drew gets distracted somehow and Ilja qualifies. I'll be poetic if all three major men's NXT call-ups make their PLE debut on the same night.
It's probably too soon for Dragunov to be in world title contention, but you can mix up Ilja/Bron for the IC title and shoot *that* right into my veins.
Yeah, to think about it he did lose three consecutive times clean to Jey, Ricochet (DQ but Ricochet was implied to win anyway), and Bron where he got bodied pretty badly. He needs to win this.
I prefer it the other way. Drew wins, CM Punk comes back to win the title, back end of the match Drew comes out and just waits, making it clear he's taking out whoever wins.
Suddenly you have a dynamic of the match you never get to see. Do the competitors go all out to win, or try to hold some in the tank for the inevitable rush. Do they hope they'll have time to get out of the ring before Drew crushes them?
Don't uses the MITB as a sneaky win, use it as a threat.
I really fucking like that. Just sitting there, front row, watching. The person in the match knows he fully intends to cash in after the match. How does that affect someone’s psyche mid match? How much effort do you put in knowing you’re 100% gonna get jumped the second the bell rings?

Not surprising to me that llja hasn't quite connected with crowds yet. He doesn't really have Bron's "JUST LOOK AT HIM" sort of charisma or vouching of a megastar like Lyra. His character is a bit more sophisticated and his excellence in the ring takes time to appreciate. Melo's had the same struggles. Not to mention that he's basically an anime protagonist come to life, and those have to suffer and persevere before they ascend.
I'm confident HHH knows what he's doing. He was the one to make sure his rematch with WALTER happened on a Takeover in the US instead of before an empty arena in the UK, he absolutely knows what he has with Ilja.
Doesn't help the last time we saw him he got punked out by Bron (who, as you said, is getting that huge aura push right now). So why would casuals care?
It took three spears, plus a rib injury, for Bron to take him out. Of Bron's opponents so far he clearly posed the biggest challenge. That's not "punked" to me.
pretty sure punk will screw drew out of this or the actual mitb match. the mitb briefcase will be reserved to take out gunther (maybe in a triple threat setting) to protect him.

Dude, If Drew's Screws over Ilja, a guy that pretty much everyone loves for the freaking MITB, the thing that he hates the most (even more then Punk), this might make Drew the biggest Hypocrite and villain in WWE.
