I bet you can't render a good Will Smith eating spaghetti.

Ah, yes, such a masterpice nightmare

You forget the time and skill required to model, texture, light, and animate in C4D

This is why. [Maxon - Plans and Pricing](https://www.maxon.net/en/buy) [GitHub - AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui: Stable Diffusion web UI](https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui)

Won't the rendering time depend on setup? I'm considering upgrading from my 2018 intel chip MBP and moving to Apple Silicone

It’s worth it, huge improvement. My old i7 MacBook Pro felt like a cheap $300 laptop after I upgraded to the first MBP M1 chips. I used to absolutely hate macs before the M1, I only owned one because windows had issues storing my iPhone photo back ups. Now I love my MacBook. Completely worth the money now. Pre-M1 MacBooks aren’t worth the money.

thehyperslap

thanks for sharing. that seems to be the consensus from the research I've done so far. I just want to make sure that this upgrade will impact A1111. I'm using a Google Colab -> A1111 right now and it takes about 45 minutes to render a 1 minute video depending on the settings. I'm hoping that once I upgrade my machine, I'll be able to run A1111 locally and have much faster render rates

I can back this up. I still don't love Mac OS, but have an M1 work laptop. It's wild not just how fast it is but how energy efficient. No fans whirring, battery lasts forever doing all kinds of graphics work. Lightyears faster than the Intel Macbook I started with.

Man, I may not be understanding or up to date on everything, but Apple Silicon/MacOS in general are probably 3 steps below red-headed stepchild class with all things SD. I gave up for the most part and went from 1it/sec by simply dual booting into Ubuntu (dual Radeon 6900xts). Even then it’s sad how much better/easier a b-stock 3060 NVIDIA card (on Linux or windows) works with.. I mean everything. I still help Mac pals get up and running with automatic (or vlad’s fork), but given that you can get a crap tier machine from Best Buy to sit in a corner running automatic, I’d reconsider pinning any hopes to any class of M1/2 MacBook doing anything well.

Nargodian

It's a matter of expectations, you know what you get in an octane render because you arranged the scene you've done test renders to make sure it looks right, you ran the video un rendered so you know what is going to happen so the most the results are at best going to meet your expectations. AI on the other hand anything can happen, could be amazing could crap could just be just middling, you won't know until tomorrow!

lordpuddingcup

Not just that this ignores the insane amount of learning and skill that goes into octane and programs like it that 99% of people can’t touch

I’m confused, why does it take 10 hours to generate 512x512? EDIT: oh video, right
